This is a fine kettle, and all the 'cons' in other reviews seem silly to me. I drink a lot of good tea, use good water, and I want a good kettle--and this one is it! (Isn't it crazy how hard you need to shop for a simple water kettle? Well, search no more.) The PROS: 1. Solidly made: 1-piece body construction (i.e. except for spout) with no bottom seam to get messed up. 2. Heats quickly: wide bottom is smart design. 3. Easy to fill: handle moves correctly, lid correct tightness. 4. Easy to use and pour. 5. Good whistle that fits well. About the supposed 'CONS': 1. NOT 'non-stick': The inside is simply not highly polished like the outside. Think about it: Why would a manufacturer spend extra to polish the inside or add an insanely useless non-stick coating?? (and I NEVER use anything 'non-stick'!) 2. NOT a rigid handle: Mine moves with an easy push but also stays upright, as it should. Do you want a loose handle that will drop to the side of the pot and get hot while heating? 3. Sharp edges? None on mine. Smooth as silk. 4. Leaky pour spout? Not on mine. Seamless, perfect construction. 5. Bubbles over? Read the filling directions! It fills my big English teapot. 6. Hot to open or pour? Not mine, not at all: spout opens and closes cool. I'm not searching for the 'perfect teapot,' whatever that might be. (I've had both cheap and expensive pots. All I care about is function, though this one is stylish, too!) I'm absolutely delighted with this--A GREAT WATER KETTLE!! (UPDATE JULY 2013) After using this pot for two years now, I must admit that the 'gurgle' or 'blub-blub' does sometimes happen, and it can be annoying. But it's easy to fix, and the great, simple solution posted in the "Most helpful Negative Review" takes care of it fast and easy. (Thanks for the tip!) The pot's seal just works too well--it prevents air from coming into the pot as you pour, so it sometimes goes 'blub-blub.' As the reviewer suggests, just pop the seal out and the problem is solved. As for the rest of my review, I stand by every word: the pot is still working great!

Great kettle and easy to clean. The whistle is not as loud as I thought it would be but I'm actually glad so it doesn't wake the whole house when I use it. Love it. I have an electric stove and it works just fine; that was a big concern of mine.

I read the reviews other people had written where they talked about some mysterious coating or something that came loose when this kettle was used, but that didn't happen to me. I tested it by filling it to its maximum fill point with distilled water, bringing it to a boil, and pouring the water into a white ceramic casserole dish. Any floating material would immediately be obvious, but I looked very closely and saw nothing. I rubbed the inside of the kettle with a damp paper towel and also got nothing at all. This kettle was given a top rating by America's Test Kitchen / Cook's Illustrated and I see no reason to argue with that.

I like that it has the increased capacity over most tea pots we’ve purchased in the past. It’s much more sturdy and heavy duty than typical tea pots. Easy to clean and looks good. We had the advantage of seeing & using our daughters several times during visits and had been impressed with its performance, looks and construction. We have not been disappointed.

Hard to find a reasonably sized pot with a spout long enough for pour-over (how I make coffee), a whistle and handles that do not need a pot holder to use. And a nice shape. Holds about 1.5 quarts to center of spout line, as recommended by manufacturer. 1.7 to just below top of spout opening. Quite heavy stainless steel. Flat bottom, all one piece. No separate bottom plate or inserts. Assembled with rugged looking rivets. Handle and spout opening lever barely warm after boiling water! Whistle is high pitched at first and then turns to a deeper and louder tone. Fine with me. Spout stays open when pouring. Seems to be all metal, no plastic other than the grips. No coating inside, just the expected industrial spun look. I have not had any stainless steel pot or pan rust, ever. Not likely this either. Lid fits tightly. Won't fall out, which is good, have to be careful messing with it when the pot is hot, which is not good. I used a little screwdriver to leverage in the three tabs just as hair and all is perfect. That's why I like metal stuff... Top handle pivots to side enough to clean and fill. Will not flop over. Pours nicely, handle well positioned for this. I like the design. Straight forward, perhaps a bit industrial in a fashionable way. Fits on the burners on my vintage gas stove, not very wide. Looks easy to clean with a generous top opening. Price is upper middle class in the World O Pots. Hecho en China. The directions are in proper English. I presume the French directions are in proper French. Seems like they are. "Inoxydable" says it all for me. There are about 956 hot water kettles on Amazon. I analyzed each one, often more than once. Chose this and am very happy.

I've waited awhile to review this kettle, just to be sure that its a good one. I am completely happy with this purchase! The whistle is loud enough to hear anywhere in my apartment, although not too loud. If you live in a large house, you may not hear it on another floor. The swing handle is a nice feature. I like how easily you can move the handle out of the way for filling purposes. (The handle stays in place when you want it too!) The handle has a "good grip" that stays cool to the touch, even at full boil. The spout opens easily with a light touch on the thumb button. No chance of steam burns. The capacity is perfect for my needs. It easily holds enough water to fill my 48 ounce coffee press. I liked this kettle so much that I bought another for a friend. I'm happy to report that he really likes his too! After a few months of heavy use, there are still no signs of rust on either kettle. All the moving parts work well without being to loose or "rattle-ly".

It took me two night of reviewing all the kettles on Amazon. So what do I do? I buy this kettle which at the time did not have any reviews. I am not sorry because this is a great kettle. First of all the brushed finish matches my GE Profile stove perfectly. I love the spout and it does not drip when you pour hot water in your cup. It does have a large capacity but so what just don't fill it all the way if you don't need to. When the water starts boiling you get the whistle like you would with most kettles. What's also nice is when the kettle starts to boil and steam is coming out the cover on top the cover is large enough so that the steam comes out the sides which allows you to pick up the handle without burning your hands. Another point that I don't want to forget. The inside of the kettle is a one piece mold. Along the bottom of the kettle there is no seam along the bottom edge which means that this kettle is very easy to clean. Most of your cheap kettles have a seam in the corner which allow deposits of some kind to get stuck in the corner. You would not think this would happen with just plain water but it does. I gave this kettle to my wife for Christmas and she was very happy with it. It is a well made kettle that is very nice to look at when it is sitting on top of the stove. It is well worth the price.

I spent a lot of time picking what seemed like the best kettle on amazon. I specifically wanted a seamless bottom and a full stainless steel construction (at least where the water contacts. This fit the bill perfectly, and I was not disappointed. It even does great for pour-overs, since the spout's shape lends nicely to that. It's not as easy to get a slow consistent flow as with a kettle made for that purpose, but it isn't far off!

honestly, i didn't know how great of a tea kettle this was because we got it a year ago from our registry at BB&B. one day i left the tea kettle on the stove on low heat and came home to a house full of smoke! the tea kettle was black and it was done (as it warns on the manual, not to use it after dry boiling it). i ordered another (cheaper) tea kettle on amazon and it sucked. it was too small. the handle didn't move. once the tea was ready, the handle was as hot as lava. it was then and only then that i realized how awesome this tea kettle was. i see why it was $40. before that experience with that terrible tea kettle, i would have NEVER spent this much on a kea kettle. however, after that experience, i immediately returned it and purchased this one. and i'm never looking back. this really is a great tea kettle and i highly recommend it.
