I had a prior 455 Husqvarna which came to its demise after many years of amazing service. For some reason it bucked while using and the Carb blew the hoses out of the intake and fuel draw. After some research it would have cost almost 30% of a new saw in repairs versus a new one mainly due to the fact that the repair required a full tear down of the saw to get to the items. While very handy, I wasn't going to spend the time to tear down and rebuild it. This saw gave me 10 years of use, so I let it rest - LOL I purchased a new one the very same one. I have two saws this one and a STIHL. The STIHL is definitely more powerful BUT the Husqvarna still beats ALL the rest hands down. This is totally a work horse that is up to any cutting task you put it to. Keep a sharp chain and let it rip. I cannot say enough good things about the Rancher 455. The diff of .10 HP to go to the 460 makes no sense on the price diff. If you want to increase Bar Length a 24" will work just fine on the 455 Rancher.

Put in the gas and oil, primed her, started on like the 5th pull. Regularly starts on the 2nd or third pull now when cold. Idles rock solid. This is my first "large" saw (by home owner saw standards) and everything is going great so far with a couple hours on her. Way more power than my smaller 35cc husky, and she cuts through 18" of rock hard elm without bogging.

No idea why other folks say this saw is underpowered, yadda yadda. I've owned a few husqvarna saws and this one for its price bracket is awesome period. In 6 hours I cut 34 8 foot pieces of Douglas for into 16 inches for the woodstove. That ended up being +/- 425 cuts! Saw never wavered, spit, sputtered or otherwise. No issues with the auto oiler etc either. If you treat this saw with respect...it will likely outlive you. As a side note I highly advocate the use of ethanol-free fuel in this saw. Update....8/8/16 this thing while not a "pro" saw will most certainly fulfill even the crustiest customers expectations! I've run this thing through 11 cords of wood and ZERO issues. I do however baby my saws...meaning I do the required maintenance on em like clockwork. That said this saw or a comparable Stihl will be awesome period! Again I'll reiterate; if you treat this saw well it'll treat you the same"

I live in firewood cutting country. There are only two saws used here. Husqvarna, and the orange and white one, you know which one I mean. This is my third husky, second of this model, and all four have given flawless service. This one started right after assembly and servicing. Idles smoothly, and cuts very well. After a cord of firewood, it's still looking and performing like new. It joins its twin keeping our house warm. I replaced the two earlier saws was because they are from the 70s. They both still cut well, but are getting pretty geriatric. By the way, I keep one of these saws with a 24 inch bar, makes it easier to fell some of the larger trees. Great price as well.

I have a small farm that with a lot of trees on it. I have use for a chainsaw at least once a week if not more. I purchased this saw about 8 months ago and here are my thoughts: Pros: 1) This saw is easy to start 2) This saw has more than enough power for almost any tree that you will cut. (Last weekend I cut a fir tree that was over 100' tall and was over 3' in diameter that had fallen across the road. In addition the I had to cut the oak that the fir fell on which was as tall but with a slightly smaller diameter this saw handled both with no problem) 3) This saw is intuitive to use. 4) I sometimes cut trees with someone who swears by Stihl, yet he always shows up with his Husqvarna 460 as one of his 2 saws. 5) It seems to me that the Husqvarna is easier to start, has fewer problems and is less expensive than the Stihl. Cons: 1) This is a heavier saw... As a further endorsement of this saw, I bought a second 455 Rancher 4 months after the first I highly recommend this saw.

Great Saw! STARTS EASY! RIPS GOOD! I like this thing, although I'm only about 4-5 tankfuls of gas into run-time I am impressed. It's fairly heavy, but that's standard with a larger chainsaw. There is ample power. And even "big" logs like 18" diameter live Oak, this saw buzzed right through. I pretty much had no problem ripping through any length up to the full 20" bar length. I have to mention a few of the gripes of other reviewers which I think are unfounded. Feel free to skip this part as it's not directly related to the chainsaw or you just don't want to hear the b*tching. To the person that said the saw comes with a "SAFETY CHAIN". I award you no points and may god have mercy on your soul. What in the f is a "safety chain"? Is that the one that doesn't cut you really bad if it makes contact with your skin??? There is no such thing as a safety chain.... something like this should not have to be explained. For the record, the chain the saw comes with cuts absolutely great and is not a so called "safety chain" to the best of my knowledge. To the person that said this saw is hard to start. You either got a defective saw or you really have no idea how to start a chainsaw. This saw starts very easily right out of the box. I found the starting instructions superfluous. Because every time I've started this saw I've simply done it through intuition and it started almost immediately or with some quick adjustments. So OVERALL I really like this saw, it seems capable of handling almost anything I will need to cut. It has good power and it cuts really fast. Everything on the saw seems to function as it should, the oiler at the medium setting seems perfect, the chain tensioner is easy to use and works good. The chain brake works as it should, I hit it with my hand or something and it engaged at one point locking the chain in place. I simply unlocked it and it continued cutting. I of course accidentally dipped the bar into some mud and it bound the chain. I took the cover off and simply cleaned out the mud then I spun the chain a few times and the saw was good to go. Easy and efficient to remove cover and remove clogged wood chips etc. Oiler never stopped working, chain tensioner also never stopped working. Engine is easy to start and I've had no issues to report in about the first 5 hrs of run time. It's about average on fuel efficiency expect something like an hour (if cutting the whole time) for a full tank of fuel. I like Husqvarna in general and I like this saw, I hope it holds up well over time. If I can I will update this review in a couple years or so. Thanks for reading, leave me a comment below and I will reply if I can. THIS SAW IS LOUD YOU WILL PROBABLY NEED OR WANT HEARING PROTECTION

Third Husqvarna saw. Bought this as replacement for ageing 460 and 142. This 455 is sufficient for cutting big trees but hard on the back for stripping limbs. Regarding Oil leaks - It only leaks if I store it leaving dust between the blade and the body. Then the oil siphons through the dust and drips out. It does not leak if you clean your saw after each use. I always disassemble the blade and blow out the saw after use - never had an issue since.

This is not a top end saw however it performs very well. Out of the box I put fuel and bar oil in it and ran it. Other than adjusting the chain tension (expect this with a new chain) didnt have a single hiccup. Good power for general use...again, this is not a top end professional saw but for half the price of the Stihl I was looking at I figured Id give it a try. Not disappointed so far. Well see how it handles being beat on over the next few months. UPDATE: 9/10/17: About 6 tanks of fuel through this saw on two separate cutting sessions. No issues. Absolutely had a go of it taking down some 6-24 inch trees in the yard today. Pinched the bar/chain a few times working too fast, cut up a huge 4-5 ft diameter stump...basically beat the heck out of it and it kept asking for more. The only time it got a break was for more fuel and bar oil. Did buy the Husqvarna sharping kit with the little jig that fits over the chain while on the bar...nice. Took 15 mins and sharpened the stock chain and it bites beautifully...nice big chips. Very pleased with this saw so far. I will be looking into other Husqvarna machines because of this. Definitely likes to work. The 20 in bar is a bit much however its nice to have for that bigger tree or stump work. No regrets over not going with a Stihl so far. If I kill it Ill post again...not sure thats going to happen though. UPDATE 10/28/17: I have continued to show this saw no quarter. Guys who run saws all day would probably slap me if they saw the abuse I've put this thing through. It continues to work without complaint cutting Vermont hardwood. I do notice that the Husqvarna bars seem to get beat up a bit more than Stihl? I do use the Stihl pre mix fuel as I've noticed some machines are real sensitive when just a little off mixing your own. This saw is a beast. It retrospect I probably would have gone for a 16 or 18 inch bar. Just dont need the 20 and I feel the extra length robs power at times and just gets in the way...It is nice to have for stumps however. UPDATE 9/25/18: No problems to date. Original chain is almost done and Ill probably just buy another OEM to replace for this fall. I blow out the filter and under the main side housing after every serious use. OEM Spark plug is still very clean using quality pre mixed fuel. I've let a few trusted people borrow it and they come to the same conclusion; a little heavy, but overall one of the better saws they have ever used.

Cuts through trees like butter. I bought this chainsaw to upgrade from my newbie 18” Poulan Pro, which has been a very durable saw and great for me to learn from and become comfortable with. I wanted a newer, better branded saw with more power because my wife wants us to clear out multiple BIG trees to get more sunlight on the pool. I’m not a veteran lumberjack, but I have common sense and can be handy. I have been able to fell several 28” diameter + trees WITH THIS SAW! And as I said, I don’t front as an expert. But I take my time and careful measurements, cut my notches, and have great success dropping them down. Cutting them up goes by smooth as the power and husqvarna chains just rip through the wood leaving nice, BIG, chips. It’s almost too good. In the beginning I kept accidentally cutting all the way through it seems to cut so well and fast. Consequently, I nicked the ground on a few occasions. I eventually started letting off the throttle much sooner which meant the last few runs would stop the cut perfect for either turning the tree or just kicking the piece off. The ONLY thing I would make other less experienced chainsawers like myself award is that it is DEFINITELY a big step up from an 18” saw. The extra 2 inches and power definitely required me to adjust my handling and operating. I found I was getting more fatigued quicker trying to adjust. However, by the end of day 2, beginning day 3, my body became more accustomed and I have cutting stamina similar to when I was using the 18” 42cc Poulan. All in all, I am very glad I purchased this saw. I also purchased 3 extra chains, both products were through fix_my_toys, whom I ALSO HIGHLY RECOMMEND. I won’t tell the whole story, but long of the short is my purchase of the 3 extra chains were never delivered with my chainsaw, but according to amazon status both products were shipped together under the same tracking number which said they were BOTH delivered to me in person (in actuality it was my wife who was home for delivery). When I got home from work and inspected the delivery, I found I had actually ONLY received the chainsaw, NO extra chains. I contacted them experiencing high anxiety thinking, “I’m screwed. No way are they going to believe me when the tracking order says they were delivered directly to the customer.” I messaged them what happened and my thoughts of why It would appear that it WAS delivered because the chainsaw made it fine, but the chainsaw and extra chains BOTH shared the same tracking number. Make sense? Anyways, I messaged them a day before Easter no less and they responded back to me not more than a few hours later apologizing for the mix up and the promise they would resend the chains ASAP. No questions asked. I received the chains 3-4 days later. I could NOT have been a more satisfied customer. I was so worried they would think I’m some slime ball guy trying to milk them for free chains. But thankfully they trusted me and made good in their order. So not only am Zo happy with the products I purchased from them, but I am MORE than thrilled and impressed with their customer service and dedication to their patrons. They have definitely made me a customer for life!

I have an older model 455 which I have used for many years at my farm in North Florida. Hurricane Michael left us with many trees down which I had to clear to reopen access paths and trails and fix fences. I decided that I would need a back-up saw to assure continuous progress. My successes with my old saw convinced me that this was a good option. I prefer hard nose bars in this kind of work and immediately replaced the sprocket nose with a hard nose. Having that choice in the initial purchase would have been preferable. It worked fine out-of-the-box and continues to do so.
