  • Test for Free Chlorine, pH, Total Alkalinity, & Stabilizer

This really is the only hot tub test strip to buy. I've tried other brands, and the colors on the bottle's label are too difficult to read. PH, for example are just minor shades of pink. the Aquachek strips have a wide variation of colors, ensuring easy-to-read testing. PH, while still pink, will range from brownish, to orange to pink. Which is important when you're trying to dial in your numbers.

They work great, without a bunch of additional checks that I don't need. Some of the test kits have a bunch of extras that clutter up the strips, making it difficult to compare the colors to the charts. With these, I can quickly see the pH, Alkalinity, and Free Chlorine level, along with the stabilizer level. They are perfect for my swim spa, and can be purchased at a great price here on Amazon.

I usually drive to the pool store to have my water tested and it's a pain at times. I'm having pool issues right now and it's great to do a quick test strip at home. The test results were accurate as compared to the pool store's results. I used to struggle with the kit with the drops but this is so easy. I will be using these from now on. Highly recommend! *Edit 9/7/13 Pool builder came by to help me resolve my disappearing chlorine issue today. He turned his nose up at my test strips. His kit read a low free chlorine level while mine was high. He went out and got a different kit- the results matched my test strips perfectly. His other kit must have been defective he realized. Just ordered more of these little guys, such a time saver and super easy!

Holy cow is this EASY!! Everything very accurate as compared to my drop test. I'm buying more of these right now so I never run out. I learned the hard way to never have a spa/pool store test my water....they WANT TO SELL YOU CHEMICALS! My pool got so messed up from relying on the spa store, I had to pump and start over again. Now all I use is clorox bleach and kempro acid (I add a little CYA at start of the season). That's it. You can read a newspaper laying on the bottom of my pool (super clarity). So for me, PH and Chlorine are the key measurements, the others are nice.

These strips were recommended by our local pool company and are the most accurate to a liquid test kit I've ever used. We use a liquid kit after opening to make sure CYA and other levels (that the strips do not test) are in line, then use the strips the rest of the summer with no problems. I have other strips from other manufacturers that I've tested against these and there are too many discrepancies to trust them. Our water is crystal clear.

Always perfectly accurate testing my Salt water generated pool water, & everything else it tests is the same as when I used to occasionally bring my water to the pool store to have it tested. You can have 100% confidence in these strips. As for leaving the bottle in the Sun, even for a few hours, the chart on the back will fade, AS DO THE STRIPS (Although once dipped in water the results are still the same). After a while you may memorize the colors, I have, but still-keep em out of the Sun.

These are the only strips I trust. I have used many others and I have a Taylor testing kit. These are not pefect. But by calibrating with my testing kit I am able to get very close to where things should be with these strips. Other strips seem to vary between batches and even strip to strip in the same package. Not these. Always solid.

I used two of these today for our small pool and both strips were identical. I now know that I need to use a bit less chlorine to keep the pool balanced correctly. I'm a first time pool owner, so everything requires a learning curve. These strips are pretty simple and straight forward to use. You dunk it in the pool entirely, pull it out and wait 15 to 30 seconds to see if what color each little pad on the strip it. Then hold it up to the back of the bottle and match the colors on the printed guide to see the results. The bottle does say it needs to be stored indoors rather than in the container outside by the pool like your chlorine tabs and other supplies.

For the past 28 years I have checked our pool’s water using reagents. We’ve never had any major problems, and I attributed that success to a sensitive liquid kit and diligent upkeep. Not too long ago a friend stopped by—he owns a local pool and supply company. He casually asked how we checked our water. When I told him, he laughed and asked why when there are much quicker and just as accurate test strips available. He specifically suggested I give these a try. Having worked in a laboratory, I was highly skeptical of test strips in general, but after using these, I’m eating crow. Accuracy is top-notch and how nice that four tests are done in just 15 seconds. What I really like is a full description how to correct problems should pH, free chlorine, total alkalinity or stabilizer be out of normal range. The product insert that comes with the strips is invaluable. Don’t wait 28 years to change the way you check your pool’s water conditions. These truly deserve five stars. After repeatedly comparing the strips to reagent testing, I’m convinced they work just as well, are definitely a quicker testing method and in the long run, cheaper to purchase each summer season. By the way, Amazon’s prices were several dollars cheaper than anywhere I could buy them locally. Included is a photo of AquaChek’s water chemistry guide and treatment tables.

I was so pleased to find this item on Amazon, as I have been purchasing these strips from my local pool supply store at a greatly inflated price. These test strips are easy to use and easy to read with results available in about 15 seconds. I have taken pool water samples to the pool store for verification of my results with these test strips and the results have proven that they are always spot-on with their accuracy.
