perfect top of stairs gate

I needed a gate for upstairs where the gate needed to be mounted to two banisters that don't line up. I didn't want to have to drill into anything and I wanted to be able to keep the gate open when we're not upstairs (not autoshut). This is perfect. It was easy to install although the adhesive on the corner protectors don't do anything at all (they stick to your banister but not onto the actual piece!) and I dropped them downstairs a couple times while trying to strap them on. It locks up just fine although it takes a little wiggling to get it shut. One of my banisters is crooked or something because there is a leveling bubble on top of the two sides of the gate and I could not get one side level and attached to the banister for the life of me. No biggie though, everything still works wonderfully and does what I need it to do!

Great gate... very sturdy

This baby gate is great. I bought two of them.... one of them I attached to the wall and the other between two bannisters. Both were easy installs. Tip... use heavy duty sheetrock anchors for a wall installation. They'll hold up better than the ones provided against rough toddlers. The gate only comes with one bannister attachment but when i called the company for an additional one, they shipped one out within a couple of days free of charge. Great customer service. As for as the gate, I've had both of them up for almost a year now and my toddler hasnt been able to break through either one yet. He's 30 lbs now and shakes and hangs off of it every day... the gates haven't budged. I've read other reviews of people having a hard time opening up the gate. Guess what... they're baby gates. They're supposed to be slightly difficult to open. Install them leveled and the right way and any normal, functioning adult won't have a problem opening them. I would recommend this product.

Very versatile with several mounting options

Got this to go on our stair banister that isn't the strongest and had fairly skinny poles, so a typical baby gate that stays in place by pushing against each side or screwing into place wouldnt work. I used the option to mount with the included velcro straps which wrap around the banister poles and tighten down really well. Comes with lots of rubber brackets to protect your banisters, and a wide range of mounting options.

Secure, heavy duty material.

A little tough to latch, takes some practice, but that’s probably a good thing for preventing little ones from getting through. Feels secure, and love that all the hardware is included. Have used on stair top with thick posts like product photo, as well as on wall and one post, both installations have been easy and secure. I will say though that our first one of these was purchased about 4 yrs ago, and the most recent about a month ago for a grandparents house, and the newest one has a handle that feels less heavy duty than on our original, like it slips off alignment more easily and needs to be shifted back. Didn’t affect the ability to lock, but will have to wait and see about durability. First gate is still going strong with daily use and two toddlers.

Love this fence

Love this fence, so much so I bought another one for the basement stairs. Going through the reviews most people gave this product a low rating because they were not able to install it correctly or believed that the product was invincible to abuse. Yes there are parts on it that are plastic like most things but if you treat it correctly and use it properly it should not break. The basement stairs was a basic install and the Gate works brilliantly. Its super sturdy, looks good, and very minimal. The best part about this baby gate is there is not crossbar that goes across the bottom so it is a clean passthrough. Other gates have this crossbar and it can be a tripping hazard for adults and kids alike.

Great gate, Regalo's Customer Service is the best!

We purchased two of these gates when our son started crawling. One for the top of the stairs and one for the bottom. The gate was easy to install and meets our needs perfectly as we have spindles on both sides of the stairs at both the top and bottom. Our spindles are square at the bottom and round at the top, so the round adapter was great, but we needed 2 for each gate and they only came with one. After scouring the internet for an additional round adapter to purchase, I ended up just e-mailing Regalo and asking how I could get 2. They e-mailed me back the next day (I e-mailed them on the weekend) and asked for my address and sent me 2, no charge! They were super easy to work with and the gates so far have performed fantastically.

Excellent stairway gate for round and square banisters.

Excellent gate that connects easily to a round or square banister. Perfect for our use to keep a toddler from going down the stairs. HOWEVER, if you need to open and close it frequently this gate is not for you. Takes two hands to lift the gate and position the locking pins. I'm fine with that so I still gave it five stars for the quality and the excellent system of attaching to a banister that is round at the top and square at the bottom. Another plus is that there is no stationary bar at the bottom which is a trip hazard. Gates that do close with one hand have a stationary bottom bar that you have to step over. Not a good idea at the top of the stairs. This gate swings completely out of the way when open. Very easy to install, even comes with built in bubble levels to help position it correctly. Gate comes with numerous adapters to allow installation with different round or square banister shapes. For attaching one side to a wall with baseboards, there are spacers that keep the gate support clear of the base board.

Perfect Solution for us

This gate is a perfect solution for the top of my stairwell. I recommend it to anyone looking for gate that takes up very little space when not in use. It was super easy to install, but it has a little learning curve to the latch. However, now I've done it a few times it's simple. Best part is, I have my hallway back. I bought this to replace a different Regalo gate that had only a small portion to step through - while also having to step over the bottom part of the gate... do this with a squirming toddler in arms and 70lb dog trying to get through simultaneously for a few weeks and you start thinking it's time for a change. I'm thinking about replacing all my gates with this one now...

Great gate for stairs!

I bought this gate for the bottom of my stairs, which has banisters on both sides. I found it strange that the gate comes with 4 square banister adapters, but only 1 round adapter, however, I was able to install the gate pretty easily with just a little bit of improvisation. The gate opens and closes pretty easily, and I like that it can open up wider than a normal walk-through gate.

Searched in every store for that one perfect gate that can keep my kid safe, All I could find is something that does not fit my need (Wall and Stair Railing). Finally stumbled on this product. It has a lot of extra pieces to support different type of need you may have between walls / stairs or both. It is very sturdy and not heavy. Assembling was very easy and in fact if you are installing it to stair railing you dont have to punch a single hole. Great Buy and I recommend this product.
