This is $25 dollars cheaper than at the printer dealer! However be PREPARED to carefully remove tape that has a wheel locked into place. It had melted and finally after an hour I got it off, but used myriad of products first. BE EXTRA careful not to scratch any of the plastic surfaces or this probably won't work. I also went on YOUTUBE to get Brother's instructions.

Final update: April 23rd. Starter cartridge finally says it's run completely out (though it still seems to print). That's a total of about 200 pages since I first got a message. The 3-times-Go printout shows a total of 730 pages - roughly what the starter cartridge is supposed to have, and I've now installed the hi-capacity cartridge ----- first update Update. It's now April 11th. I've printed at least another 100 pages and things are still going well. But I've discovered another feature. In addition to the 7-times-Go (described below), there's a 3-times-Go that will print a three page report showing everything you ever wanted to know about your printer, including the amount of toner actually left. (Note that I have a Brother HL-2270DW. The cartridge also fits other machines that may have a different way of getting the same info.) ----- original post Like others I started getting a 'toner-low' message after maybe 450 or so pages. In looking for a way to trick the printer, I read the manual(!). It said to press the Go button seven times in a row to clear the toner-low lockout, and that once that was cleared the cartridge would continue to print until the toner was actually gone. Worked like a charm. I'll update this when the thing actually runs completely out. Understanding this, the way they do it makes sense: really early warning that you should order another cartridge - and a lockout that you can't ignore, keeping you from having a really bad day in the future.

We have tried a couple different generic toner cartridges (Linkyo, V4INK) and I can't tell if they last longer, or even if they perform better, but Brother customer service/technical support won't help you if you don't use real Brother products. I buy the high yield (2600 pages) because it does last longer than the regular. But, why is any ink cartridge this much money? The generics are almost half the price. Plus, I still have to return the used cartridges to the office supply store for recycling. It would be cool if Amazon would recycle these. The Amazon delivery person is already dropping off at my house, so it would be awesome if they could pick-up a return while they are at at.

I LOVE that this High Yield Black Toner fits our printer and it really is HIGH YIELD. I print a lot of pages for my work (that just can't be helped) and this just keeps going and going! It definitely lasts much longer than the standard toner and, with running out of toner being such a traumatic thing, especially when I live in a small town without many choices for purchasing toner at a decent price, it's wonderful for it to last so long. If you are considering the High Yield Toner, I recommend it highly!

I started out using ink jet printers like most everyone else. And like everyone else, I spent a fortune on ink jet cartridges. I had been using laser printers at work but thought they were to expensive for my needs. I was soo wrong. I researched and bought a Brothers HL-2270 DW and couldn't be happier. The printer uses the TN450 cartridge. These cartridges will last for quite some time. With my printing needs we got almost 9 months from the last cartridge. Granted it's black and white but I am fine with that. The toner cartridges come nicely packaged and slide easily into the printer. I haven't used any other toners and won't. I am very pleased with this one. If you had any doubts about this product forget them and get this toner cartridge-- You'll be glad you did.

I converted to a Brother monochrome laser printer a few months ago after years of frustration with another brand's all-in-one printer that consumed huge amounts of color ink even though I printed everything in black and white. The toner cartridge that came with the Brother laser unit ran out quickly, as I was warned, and it took a while to figure out how to replace the cartridge the first time around but now it's easy. I've got the printer set for 300 dpi (and for text instead of graphics) to maximize my yield. Like others, I started to get a "low toner" warning around 1500 copies and if it weren't for seeing other Amazon reviews for other Brother cartridges, I might have changed the cartridge shortly after getting the first warning. Having read the other reviews, however, I removed the existing cartridge, shook it a bit to assure the remaining toner was well distributed, ran the "carona wire" back and forth a couple of times and returned the printer to regular use. So far, I've printed over 1200 additional pages since the first warning and everything is still printing fine, with no lines or other problems that come when the toner actually is low. I'm watching to see how much longer the old cartridge will work, but wow, the other reviewers definitely helped by warning of this problem. It's something Brother ought to correct. By the way, I didn't put tape over the holes as others have suggested since I don't want any complications from that, although may do so the next time around. As an additional note, unless Amazon has fixed the problem, ignore some of their drop down menus when selecting the right cartridge for the right Brother unit. They say the TN 450 isn't correct for a Brother HL2270DW when in fact it is.

After having issues with either printers or cartridges I've found this combo works well. I've also monitored the pages printed. I get slightly less than the stated total, but I likely have more than 5% coverage on a notable percentage of pages. I was just about to change the current cartridge and thought, even with the heavier print, it was a bit too early at just under 1500 pages for a TN450. The prints were low on ink in some places, and almost blank in others. I removed the cartridge and tilted it to the L and R a few times to sort of redistribute the toner inside. Sure enough, the next print was perfect: still like new after 1500 pages. Very impressive and 5 star rating warranted. (nb. using a 2280 with 10,000+ printed to date, all perfect) Further update: 5th replacement also yielded almost 2200 pages, this time 2,198

My history with the HL-2270DW and the TN-450 cartridges: Starter Cartridge - 751 pages, changed 12/27/2011 2nd Cartridge - 1,999 pages (total printer count 2,750) Changed 03/29/2012 3rd Cartridge - 2,559 pages (total printer count 5,309) Changed 07/24/2012 4th Cartridge - 2,627 pages (total printer count 7,936) Changed 11/19/2012 5th Cartridge - did not record 6th Cartridge - Approx. 2,300 pages (total printer count 12,585) Changed 08/14/2013 (DRUM IS NOW GIVING WARNING OF 0% LIFE LEFT) DRUM UNIT REPLACED AT 14,908 PAGES 12/21/2013 7th Cartridge - 2,537 Pages (total printer count 15,122) Changed 01/03/2014 I run them until I notice a problem with the output itself, the low toner message comes on long before they actually run out. You can press the GO button 7 times in quick succession to do this. As of now I've stopped counting page output, I think the results are reliable enough to form an opinion. My printer is still rocking on just like it did on day one!

Toner is fine and I've been using this model for several years now with no issues. What was amazing about this purchase was the same-day delivery by Amazon. I ordered it on a Saturday at about 11AM and it was at my front door by 5PM. Amazon never ceases to amaze me. The only thing that could possibly have been better is if a drone dropped it off at my window with an order of some Amazon Fresh items. One thing some people might forget to do is to recycle the used toner. All you have to do is go to the Brother website and go into your account and just printout a free return label and drop it off at the post office. I'm big on doing my part to protect the environment and I just cringe at the thought of someone putting a used toner cartridge in the trash can.

Other people reported that they received third-party, recycled cartridges. I'm not doubting them, but I thought I should report that I did indeed receive a brand new, genuine Brother cartridge. Here's how to tell if yours is genuine: 1) confirm the box looks like the one shown in photo 2) check that the packing tape is not tampered with 3) on the outside of the box, look for a security hologram sticker with a QR code on it (about the size of a postage stamp) 4) use a QR code reader app on your smart phone which will display a Brother web page that confirms the cartridge is genuine -- the web page also gives tips on how to confirm that the security hologram is genuine. The cartridge works great so far (will report back if there are any problems). Great price with free one-day Prime shipping. TIPS: 1) Be sure to follow the directions for changing the cartridge -- for me, it was significantly different from my old printer -- the toner cartridge is actually housed within a bigger cartridge (called a "drum") that you remove from the printer. 2) Be sure to follow the step where you slide the little green button back and forth several times to clean the drum -- ALSO when you are finished sliding the green button, return it all the way back to the "home" position until it CLICKS into place. Sorry if I made this seem more complicated than it is -- it's really easy -- just follow the directions. P.S. I love, love, love this multi-function printer -- I use it for printing, faxing, and copying and it does all those things flawlessly and quickly (I have the MFC-7860DW model).
