At first I thought mine was broken but I was doing it wrong! 1. Cut the wrapper with the cutter that it comes with (little loop hooked onto the back of the charger stand). 2. PUSH DOWN ON THE WINE OPENER WITH PRESSURE while pressing the down arrow button as you hold the bottle as well. 3. Once the wine opener feels a little loose, that means the cork is out. 4. Remove the wine opener to reveal the open bottle. 5. Press the upward arrow to release to cork. CHEERS!

As a senior citizen, opening a bottle of wine can be a challenge using a manual corkscrew. This opener is great. You place it on the bottle with one hand while holding the bottle with the other and press a button. The corkscrew goes into the cork and will stop when it's fully inserted. Press the button again and it will remove the cork from the bottle and then continue until the cork comes off of the corkscrew. So much easier than doing it manually. I've used it at parties and the charge will last between 20-30 bottles. It also comes with a charging stand and a cutter for the paper wrapped on the bottle neck.

My old one finally broke after about 10 years of accelerated and VERY CONSISTENT use! I am buying another one because I loved it so much. I don't need the neon, pretty models that do all sorts of extra stuff. I just want my darned wine opened, and pronto. I am happy to report this opener is even easy for the wine opener operator to use after consuming many, many, bottles of wine in one evening. Just put it on the bottle and push the button and the cork is removed. Then if you have any left over energy and motivation you push the button in the opposite direction and the cork pops out of the opener. One night it was even tried it on a can of beer. However, it does not work as effectively on beer cans. It wasn't me that tried opening a can of beer with this wine opener. I am writing this review for a friend. (wink) Thank goodness for Amazon Prime and 2 day shipping!!!.....

Picture the scene: It's Saturday (after noon), you have discovered a fresh bottle of wine in the fridge and you have absolutely no responsibilities for the day. You go to the drawer to get your corkscrew and your osteoarthritis says, "OH HOLD UP! GO GET YO MAN TO OPEN THIS FOR YOU!" ...except your man is at a friend's house helping install a ceiling fan. The horror. The devastation. But wait! Enter the Oster electric wine opener. All my dreams came true. Simple and sleek design takes up little counter space. It works flawlessly and with ease. Be still, my wine soaked heart. True love does exist.

You're going to love this if you buy it. The unit is about a foot long and has an up/down toggle switch on it. ALso comes with a "foil cutter", which you use first to expose the cork. Next, just press the unit down over the top of the bottle, push the toggle switch down and hold it there. The corkscrew just drills down into the cork and will reverse itself (automatically) and pull it right out! Take the unit off of the bottle and push the toggle switch up. Hold it there until the cork drops off in your hand. If you want a fun gizmo, and something that is actually useful, this is it!

After using this opener for a month I can say it works better than the Waring Professional electric opener I used for 3.5 years before the battery went dead. This opener has performed as expected in pulling the cork out and then releasing the cork with just the touch of the buttons. Even the foil cutter works really well in cutting the foil with little effort. I leave the opener plugged in and charging all the time so I can't really give an estimate for how long the battery charge will last. My previous Waring opener would last a couple of months between recharging but I think the continual depleting the battery may have shortened the battery life so I'm keeping this opener charged all the time to see if it makes the battery last longer.

I like to keep a simple on my reviews and only answer what people really care about. I do not do pictures or videos as I have a job and this does not pay my bills, it is just a way to help the regular Joe like me make an informed decision. I do not get free or discounted products for review, you will get my unbiased review of product. Does it work? Yes, I bought this for opening wine bottles and it does not disappoint. Is it easy to use? Yes Pros: Works as intended Cons: None Note: Drink responsibly

I've had mine about 6mo. Best $18 I have spent on wine. I don't consider it a neg, but the screw will penetrate the entire length of the cork. If that's a thing for you. Arthritis got the best of me with a rabbit corkscrew so I bought this. I bought a second one for a white elephant Last Christmas. The owner of a winery snapped it up and declared it was going home with him . Period. :) The battery held it's charge for at least 10 bttls before I put it back on the charger. I am buying another right now for the motorhome.

This is our second Oster wine opener. We bought our original unit over 8 years ago based on a friend's recommendation regarding its durability; and it lived up to its reputation! After being constantly plugged in and in use on a regular basis, the battery is finally showing signs of weakening and having difficulty with harder corks. Plus, the case is showing some signs of being sticky. Over the years we have given numerous friends the same opener and all sing the praises of this unit. It's easy to get spoiled.

I love this product so much, I bought one for my parents. It is easy to use and convenient enough that it doesn't take too much room on the counter. It also comes with a foil cutter to get the foil off the top of the wine bottle. I like how quiet it is when I am using it and the cork comes out whole 98% of the time. I have had a few times the cork has gotten cracked but not sure if it was the wine opener or the wine bottle having a dry cork. It takes the hassle out of opening wine bottles!
