This is my 2 month review update (almost 2 months). This runs like a dream and shaves so close that I barely know my own face. My face is baby butt smooth. I watch TV while I shave. I clean it once a week MANUALLY by taking off the screen blade assembly and LIGHTLY tap it on my desk, then I use some can air to blow it out. I then use a drop of gun oil on my finger tip and massage it into the screen and blades. My wife tried it and she loves it. She can't believe how comfortable the shave is and she loves the slight vibrations. In my original review, I suggested that the user keeps it locked back but I now find it great to unlock it and let it float. TIP: NEVER PRESS HARD WHEN SHAVING, just go over the area in multiple directions till you don't hear any more cutting. Pressing hard will wear out the blades. If manually cleaning ALWAYS USE A DROP OF LIGHT HIGH QUALITY OIL EACH TIME. Cleaning without the cleaning fluid gives great results as long is it is a gentle and use some air to assist in blowing it out and oil to reduce blade friction. A Touch of alcohol and letting it dry before adding the oil can help sanitize. My original review is below and it still stands other than locking the head. Maybe this is too soon to rate but I will come back if this status changes. First: I have very light whiskers, but they are tough. I was previously using a great razor (old style butterfly twist to open double edge safety razor). I was using it because my whiskers would get stuck in the multi-bladed razors and I would go through blades almost every shave. My butterfly gives almost as close and allows me to open it up and clean it. Ok, I am old and getting lazy in my retirement so I thought about getting an electric. I have used several in the past but was never satisfied, but I figured the tech must me much better. I also realize most companies build very cheap now a days. So I considered it and took the leap. I bought this Braun 790cc7 razor using Amazon Prime. 2 working days and I have it. I AM SO VERY HAPPY WITH MY FIRST SHAVE. I opened the box, took inventory, started reading the booklet and then put the razor in the charger unit (without the cleaning fluid). 3/4 charge I pulled it and started shaving my 3 day old beard with out a precut. I half expected it to pull and rip the hairs off my face but SHAZAM, it was easy and no pain and my shave was faster than my butterfly and just as smooth. I KNOW, YOU DOUBT THE CLOSENESS. But it's true. For one, my butterfly with a premium expensive blade does good but not as good as the multi blade razors. But this Braun 970cc matches the closeness of my butterfly. I no longer have to buy blades each month. I no longer have to stop the bleeding on my face (mostly neck and around my mouth. I just have to charge it or use it corded, and then clean.... OH! BTW! I opened it up to clean it manually and this fantastic machine ground the whiskers so fine I barely had any hairs to clean. I tapped it as the instructions say and then blew out with some compressed air (just a 2 second burst) and it is spotless. After assembling the head back to the body, I added a drop of oil as the book said to do and lightly rubbed it in and then ran it for about 20 seconds. The oil I used was a light gun oil. One thing I recommend for anyone using this... DON'T PRESS THIS HARD AGAINST THE FACE. Lightly go over it and go over in small segments, not long strokes. I also found that I did better by locking the head back so it didn't float. That way I could angle the blades as I felt it across my face, and I can control the pressure. If this shaver poops out on me, I will update my review.

This is the BEST electric shaver I have ever owned. I have been using electric shavers for nearly 45 years and tried all the major brands - Phillips, Norelco, Panasonic, Remington, etc. By far, the Braun is tops in ergonomics and shave quality. This device feels hefty and well made. Fit in my hand is perfect. Cutting heads do a terrific job, and cutting a four-day growth is a cinch. I found the mode setting to be valuable so I can reduce power when shaving around sensitive areas (i.e. upper lip), and turn it up when hogging out the rest of the beard growth. And like any other kind of shaving, you get the best results when you stretch the skin tight and shave against the natural grain of the beard. I was skeptical of the need for a cleaning station, but it really seems to work well to clean and sanitize the shaver head. When done shaving, pop the shaver in the cleaning station where it being to recharge. Push the button on the front of the station and it automatically powers the shave on and off and dousing the shaving head with cleaning fluid from the reservoir as needed.

The Shaver just arrived yesterday, two day shipping of course, and after reading the instruction guide plugged it in and charged for about 1 hour. Then shaved last night. What a fantastic result. It was a very close shave even though I used little effort. The moving head made it so easy. I have been using a rotary electric razor for years so my beard was set up to use the razor. Using the cleaner/charger was a snap. It can't be any easier than this. Plus it really is nice to use a clean, like new. razor every shave. The look and feel is perfect and I believe this will be my final razor. Thanks Braun for making my life a little better.

My second (2) Braun Series 7... My last one lasted me nearly five (5) years, finally died when I tried to replace the blades. Three (3) things I love... 1. Extremely close shave. 2. Extremely gentle shave, especially on the neck. 3. Does not leave me with bumps, red marks, or ingrown hairs. Three (3) things I like... 1. The blades last me between 12-14mo. I shave every 1-3 days. 2. The shave solution lasts me between 3-5 weeks, on average. It smells good, leaves the razor with a pleasant odor. 3. The battery lasts me several days on a trip without additional charging.

I've used several different kinds of electric shavers over the years from the Norelco rotary to various foils and the Braun 790cc has been the best performing shaver of all. The high speed movement of the blades allows for it to lift and cut my face hairs like no other foil has been able to do. It does especially well on the hair under my bottom lip which has proven difficult for other foil shavers to remove. The hair on my jaw line has also proven difficult for foil shavers to remove cleanly but this one does the best of them all for me. I don't want to have to use two different models to shave my face, such as a rotary for my jaw line and a foil for the rest, however this unit is able to meet my needs. It also doesn't require multiple passes like my Remington F5 5800 did. Could you imagine mowing your lawn with a mower that required you to make multiple passes over the same patch of grass to cut it cleanly with new blades? I know that Braun has recently released a higher performing model than this one at a much higher price but this unit performs great for me. I briefly considered the Panasonic arc 4 & 5 models but the awkward heads on them make me hesitate especially the arc 4 where only one side benefits from the extra blade forcing them to even the head out with the arc 5. This is the second 790cc I've owned and I'm sold on the Braun line of shavers and will never stray again.

I was given my first (corded) Norelco rotary shaver when I was 15, and have used Norelcos ever since. As I bought newer models after the old ones wore out, I was less and less satisfied. The motor speeds were slower, and the quality of the shave worse, particularly when Norelco moved to softer metal cutting heads (quite a while ago now). I even bought used older models on eBay to keep with a model that I was (mostly) satisfied with. Changing the cutting heads from time to time helped, but there was a limit to the closeness of the shave I could get. I decided to try a Braun Series 7 model 2 months ago, with some hesitation. People say there are rotary shaver men and back-and-forth shaver men, and if you are one, you won't be the other. But, in my case, after 50 years of using a rotary shaver, I wish I had tried a Braun earlier. The shave is closer and more thorough. I was worried about shaver burn on my neck, whose hairs grow out in all directions, but I had no problem at all. For me, the Braun 790cc was a good mix of value and features. I've read that the Series 9 is supposed to be even better, but I wasn't inclined to pay the extra cost.

I have used a rotary razor for decades, owned a few. I used them because I wanted my face to be used to it enough so that I could go without a regular razor when water wasn't available (when traveling sometimes). But they never shaved well enough to use alone on a regular basis. I decided to give this razor a try after reading a professional review and because Braun offered a good return policy; so I figured it was worth the risk. I know my face would need a couple of weeks to get used to a different way of shaving. Wow, this is amazing. From the first shave with this razor several weeks ago, I have not picked up my regular razor. This simply shaves better. I can easily get around my nose, up close to my ears, and everywhere in between. My skin is less irritated and looks better throughout the day. I have always needed to get a quick touch up before going out in the evening, and this does it beautifully. The charging and cleaning system are great as well. I usually put mine in the cleaner once a week, and that seems sufficient. I'm not sure what the 900 series offers that this one doesn't for almost twice the price. I'm glad I didn't spend the money because I couldn't get that much better results than what I'm getting with this.

Long time user of electric razors going on 40 years+ and I do have hair more on the course side. In this review I am not comparing a used razor blade to a new one I comparing getting new blades in present razor and this new razor. My very first electric was a razor like this one, foil. I didn't think it was great and switched to rotary/Phillips/Norelco ever since. Though not all models excelled over the years most were pretty good and my Norelco Speed XT shaver was excellent, close overall comfortable shave. But that was then and this is now as they say. In my opinion Norelco rotary razors don't cut it. (Yes I know) The Speed XT shavers used an HQ9 blade system that while not as kind to sensitive skin did a great job of cutting the hairs with minimal overpasses. Other of their shavers and those since either use the HQ8 or a variation of it, easier on the skin but nowhere near as close a shave even after going over the same spot several times. (You can use the HQ9 in some of their of razors for a little better result but still not up to the shave of their older Speed models.) Enter the reviews of the Braun 7 series that they were the best you can buy. While on the expensive side though not overly so of the higher end Norelco shavers and not as expensive as Braun 9 series that are not rated as high. But the chance at saving a total of $80 over the Amazon already lower price made me buy one hoping it was better than what I was getting from Norelco. (Cost ended up and excellent $89, $169 - $50 Amazon reduction and $30 Braun rebate) The Braun 760CC isn't better it is light years better. Very close comfortable shave with little overlap needed. I did my homework before buying to make sure I got what I wanted. I got the older model 760 that is not a true Wet/Dry model as all the 7 series are now. That's because I never shave wet, in the shower etc and much more wanted the shaver to be able to work while plugged in if needed. Wet/Dry ones for safety reasons do not work while plugged in charging. I would have bought the newer one if that was all that was available however. The cleaning system/charger stand that comes with it works as it should. And to my surprise I now have two back-up electric cords because the ones from my two older Norelcos are exactly the same - right down to the notch that is needed in the plug to fit in the razor or charging/cleaner stand. It feels good in my hand while shaving even though it is bigger than my older Norelcos. The built in pop-up trimmer is virtually the same as on my Norelcos also. Which is to say it works for trimming of side burns or mustache just don't think it will work like a dedicated hair trimmer. In the box is a nice travel case/cover for the razor and a small brush for times a light cleaning is all that is needed. This turned out to be a great purchase, both because the shaver is so good and the huge price reduction.

I shave my head and beard at the same time. Very smooth. I would say it is equivalent to a razor shave plus 4 hours. That is pretty amazing. It says that you get a better shave if you shave before your shower as the water softens the hairs and make them tougher to get down close. Why buy the more expensive Braun that can be used in the shower???? I use the cleaner only when I need to charge it. I have reused the same cleaner tray by snapping the lid back on the try for 8 months. Probably time to buy another, but the small amount of hair washed out sits in the bottom, so I am not sure that I need one more often. After shaving I take off the lid and tap it on the side of the sink and then turn it around 180 degrees and do the other end. It seems to get out 95% plus all the hair. It charges in the cleaner or with the cord connected directly. I shave every day and charge it around once every month.

LADIES yep LADIES and men hear me out. Guys if you don't like the furry burger look then get your girl this. Ladies if you are like me and like to keep the kitty clean or even go all bare down there then I totally recomend this. My hair is very thick and corase and this shaver does a wonderful job. The best thing about this is if the hair is a week growed out it will shave in one swipe no need to shave every day. But I would not reccomend your hair to grow out any longer. I have bought many of differant female electric shavers from panasonic to conair and was not happy at all. My first reason is that the battery would not hold a charge. The other reason is that I would get chewed up,,, the nicks and cuts,,,OUCH and at times the hair would even get pulled. Us ladies are all ways wanting to look good and clean. We do have thick hair in the bikini area so why would companies make such a chessy electric shaver that says it is for the bikini area and does not do the job. The cleaning station is a nother wonderful thing to have. It will not clean unless you press the button to clean and yes your shaver will charge in the cleaning station without cleaning your shaver. No need to worry about a dirty shaver going on you down there and getting infections because it is hygiencially cleaned. I know the directions says to clean it everytime you use it but that gets very exspensive with the cleaning solotion. So what I do is just clean it every 2 shaves instead of every 1 shave. The cleaning station will let you know if your shaver is very dirty. When I don't use the cleaning station I just take the head off of the shaver and tap it on the sink. I do not rinse it because I don't want to rinse the lubercation off. And then I just put it in the cleaning station for it to charge. The nice thing about the cleaning station is it will clean your shaver and lubertate it at the same time. If you are going on a vacation no need to take the cleaning station with you. Just take the electric cord that came with it and plug your shaver into the wall. I am a very happy owner of braun.
