great childs drum, but not a toy. its a real djembe.

bought for my small child so he could play it standing up. its perfect for a child. Light wood, long cup relative to the base, and what seems to be decent skin. only thing i dont love is the super stretchy skin. I like a high tone on the djembe, so i had to add some extra tuning rope after completing the first line of weave. I pulled an entire row of diamonds to get it to sound right. other than that, i can say its a great value, and I appreciate that its supposedly made in africa as opposed to somewhere else.

Amazing sounds, for all ages

I have been collecting Djembes for 15 years, from all over this globe. This was a Bday present to myself and WOW did it not disappoint. I would support this company even if the drums were subpar, but these beautiful creations belt the most heavenly tones and are of amazing quality. Right out of the box no tuning needed, perfection packing and blazing fast delivery. Aloha to all the folks at AHP for the work they do and this amaizing birthday gift!!

Great for toddlers and adults alike!

This is so much fun to play! It was meant for my toddler, but I have found myself playing it more than he does! The sound is crisp and fresh and you can easily play around to find new beats. The quality of the products used is clear. We plan to buy more instruments from Africa Heartwood in the future.

Wow ! totally surpassed my expectations. I've been drumming for 15 plus years and own various drums. The drum sounds very nice great tones and snappy lil slaps, bass is adequate for the size of the head. I ordered this for my grandson and he loved it .. So happy.

I got this as a gift for my boyfriend and he said it was the best gift he ever got in his life. He showed me that it was hand carved and that the drum was real skin, not rubber or plastic or whatever mass produced drums are made of. I don't know anything about drums, so I was very happy to know that I did get what I ordered, and even happier that he liked it so much.

Good for kids and adults, beautiful sounds

This is a great drum and we will be using it in our youth group at our church. It's small enough for child to play but big enough for adults, too. The sound is distinct and beautiful (and LOUD), and although I've never heard actual djembe, it sounds authentic.

Nice

I bought this for my wife who is a professional percussionist. She immediately named it "Reggie." She plays it on T.V. nights to add to the music behind the story lines of our favorite shows. (No, I am not kidding) It is well made and has a very nice sound. She has played it on one gig so far and received many positive comments.

Best drum at an amazing price

Absolutely amazing drum. Just got into hand drums and I made the best choice ever in buying this djembe. Very nice craftsmanship, love every bit of it. Sounds very nice too. You can hit the middle for deeper tones or the rim for a high pitched sound that sounds like a steel drum. Super fun to play. Would highly recommend this djembe to anyone wanting to get into hand drums.

Great little drum!

Great little drum! Sounds amazing for such a small diameter. Way more bass hit than you'd expect. It looks good and the strings are very tight, so I am hopeful that there won't be much stretching. Good stuff, especially for the price.
