Takes time to figure out what this software can do.
I only paid $27.99 for HGTV Home & Landscape Platinum Suite 5.0, the highest quality renders take a long time even on my i7 but are worth it, they look so good. If you have $500 then you can buy Chief Architects top of the line software which is more stream lined and has better real time graphics but the final renders don't look as good( I'm probably not doing something right), I downloaded and tried everyone's demos and for the money I'm very excited by what this powerful software can do but you have to go into sub menus to get everything out of it which is sometimes a pain. Pros: Beautiful renders allot of tools available, but must be discovered by trial and error or by reading the manual if you have the patience. Very low price if you use an online coupon (download version). It does have log home graphics but you have to search for them. No limit to how many floors you can build. Cons: I was disappointed there was no electric baseboard image but now I realize you can just use a modified wood baseboard as substitute. Painful having to read tiny descriptions and click to be able to see windows, doors etc.. that are available but at least they're there, for the low price I can live with it. Maybe not a con but I did get totally black renders, I finally figured out that the software was using my computer local time for the renders and it was night time. In conclusion I just bought a townhouse that is in worse condition than I thought (vendor take back, beggars can't be choosers) and I will use HGTV software to realize my interior decoration plans, will also look into Total 3d Home and Landscaping since for the price it looks easier to put together dream home mansions, plans just for fun but I don't expect the renders to be as nice.

Great Product, Angled and Curved walls and all!
I must admit, when my husband and I first purchased this product, we didn't really read because we were so excited to get started and figured that we would just learn along the way. I found it to be very difficult at first and became discouraged. Then, later on we decided to try it again, only this time we looked at the tool guide in the start up menu and looked at how to do all the things they had listed and using the software became so much easier. Then we came across wondering how to angle a wall and do circles and couldn't figure it out and looked up other reviews that said that they couldn't angle walls either. We both thought how could a software this good not be able to angle walls. Fortunately enough, WE FIGURED OUT HOW TO ANGLE WALLS ON HGTV ULTIMATE HOME DESIGN with Landscaping and Decks Version 3! Not only that but we also figured out how to do circular rooms as well! All you have to do is go up to the Tools menu, go to Layout, then select either the line or the arc or the circle and then you can do angles by drawing a horizontal or vertical line, clicking finish, then hovering over either end of the line until a little circle with four lines coming out of it shows and then click and hold the line dragging it into whatever angled position and length you'd like. To convert the line into a wall, click on the line then right click and go to Convert to convert it to the wall or what it is that you would like. With circles and arcs the tutor shows how to do those as well and to convert them the same goes, click it then right click go to Convert and then convert to what you want. If it wasn't for research and really reading when we had a question we would have never known what we do now. I would recommend this product to anyone! It is great and it is reasonably priced as well! Hope this helps! God bless!

HGTV provides efficient and capable solutions.
I have purchased and given this program to friends. Why ? Because it is so similar to the 3D program I got back in 1998 when I first got a computer. Of course today the program can do so much more. I remember my first jobs with the 'older type' program was a deck, followed by a sunroom addition. I was able to show the customers in 3D out of the box what their project would look like. They were amazed then and still are today. I have moved to more advanced versions of this same program and continue to wow people with the results, but like all of the 3D programs out there, it takes time to become and expert. If you are just starting out, it is easy to draw out walls, add roof , windows / doors. Nothing to it. When you get into more complex situations you must read 'Help' section and experiment to become extremely proficient. I must say 90% of those with negative comments just didn't take the time to learn and grasp the concept behind the tools. They would also find a similar problem with other 3D programs. It does work as advertised. It does greatly help one to visualize your plans in 3D. Rendering with lights is a challenge in any program and this one is simplified with great results. If you have learned to be patient, take the time to read 'Help' or Manual, you will have great first success. You can then easily build on that success to become even more proficient if you wish. But HGTV Ultimate does work out of the box and I believe it can fulfill most user's needs. Jack

Actually a great product, the only one at this price that ...
Actually a great product, the only one at this price that renders with ray tracing and gives a PHOTOGRAPHIC image. All other modeling programs require post production for photo realistic images. Problem is you must import cool models of furnishings, accessories etc. from sketchup warehouse, several generations back, sketchup 8 for use with version 3 here. Otherwise the native furnishing objects are very dorky. Pretty much everything can be customized but you have to know what you're doing. For people who know how to customize program data, this product is a great bargain. Won't trade it for anything else.
