I wanted to confirm the positive experience of recent reviewers. I have an iPhone 4S nearing the end of it's original, limited warranty. I purchased from seller KeerKeersWireless (via fulfilled by Amazon, in case there was a problem). The product was listed as an "old version." I activated directly through Apple so that I didn't have to open the package and find out that the product was not eligible to be used with my phone. Activation took 2 minutes and added a year to the original warranty. As another reviewer noted, this is not AppleCare+ so there is no enhanced coverage for accidental damage. This is not a problem for me - if you need such coverage it is available through sites like Square Trade. In regards to others' comments related to activation problems my product had clearly been opened and resealed and was missing the outer wrapper (I've bought AppleCare from Apple before and the packages have always been shrink wrapped). There may be unscrupulous returns floating around?

Some others remarked that it wouldn't activate-- I think this probably has something more to do with numbers that were already used or activated than an incompatability with the device. AppleCare+ is only sold directly from Apple with the purchase of a phone, or with the in person inspection of your phone by an Apple Store within 30 days of purchase. That won't be sold here because of that inspection requirement, so just because this is labeled "old" doesn't mean it's not working, it just means that it doesn't have the extra functionality of covering accidental damage, only manufacturing failure as did all of the original AppleCare plans.

However, I received the package in the standard Apple AppleCare box, opened it up and registered it online on my iPhone 5 with no problems. I haven't needed to use it, but it certainly seemed to go through fine. Thanks for yet another great savings from Amazon!!!
I had no issues activating this product. This clearly says "Old Version"........and my wife had just purchased an iPhone 4 (which is an older version of the iPhone). Great Seller!
Just registered my new iPhone with Apple and it worked fine. You have to peel off the plastic wrap to get to the serial number of the plan to register. The number on the outside wrap is NOT the Apple register number. Approval came back in my email in two minutes!

I thought I may be shooting myself in the foot buying a discontinued Apple product from an Amazon 3rd party online, and buying what is really just a printed number on a piece of paper in a box. I have a iPhone that I bought on eBay and had a problem with and had brought to the Apple Store and they replaced it 9 months ago. I bought this to extend coverage. I jumped on the Apple site put the AppleCare number and my serial in. It worked like a charm! I got the email from apple confirming that my coverage was extend to March 2013.
I was about to purchase the AppleCare Protection plan for my girlfriend's iPhone 4s at apple.com for $99 and then decided to see if I could find it for cheaper. I found it on Amazon and I received it within two days with my Prime account. I registered it with Apple in about 3 minutes. Worked perfectly. The only concern I had was that the label where the serial number is printed looked as though it had been printed on an old ink jet printer rather than being crisply printed like I would expect from Apple. Nevertheless it worked fine and I would purchase this again.
