I looked at this for a long time before buying it. I just couldn't quite bring myself to spend almost $30 on freezer trays. I bought some cheaper silicone ones and while they worked for freezing chicken broth, I needed trays with smaller portions. I was just starting solids with my 6 month old. Eventually one day, after wrestling to remove a cube of broth from my silicone tray I gave in and bought this. I have to say it's worth it! Portion sizes are perfect! You can feel the quality materials used and I have never had any problems removing the cubes, just push down on one side and they pop right now! If you plan on making your own baby food this is the item for you

I was hesitant to get this after reading some of the reviews. I got this and a Green Sprouts silicone mold to try both and these are SO much better. Even after being in the freezer several days they came out pretty easily. I did run some warm water on the back of some peas but only for a few seconds and then they rotated out easily. It is very easy to spread with a spatula then scrape the excess with a spatula and make fairly neat cubes that pop put easily. When removing the cubes do not twist the tray or try to pry out like regular ice cubes. Simply press down on one end of the cube and due to the curved bottom it rotates out easily. A word of caution, I do recommend taking the extra two seconds to make neater cubes because if the trays are overfilled above the lines it obviously freezes into a solid mass on top. My husband made some to help me out and when I went to remove them it was harder than usual and while pressing down I somehow cracked my fingernail way into my nail bed. Ouch. In retrospect if this happens I would just run more hot water over the back or let them soften a bit more first. Overall this is great. It makes a lot of cubes, is easy to fill, easy to remove the cubes and I love the lids. The lids make them much easier to stack and also seem more sanitary to me. By comparison my silicone mold did not have a lid and despite being careful and using a spatula it was hard to make neat cubes and all froze together. It was very difficult to get the cubes out even after running water on the back. I had to let them thaw for a while, twist a lot and exert a lot more effort only for it to come out in chunks that I then had to break into individual cubes. I'll be ordering more of these and throwing out the silicone molds.

I love these! I also have the Infantino Fresh Squeezed Squeeze station and 2 oz. reusable snap lid containers that are babies r us brand. The Mumi&Bubi are my favorite of all 3. The pros for these are you can reuse them to make food before using the food. I'm a little OCD in the fact that I like to have a variety of different foods on hand. With these I can make 42 cubes (using both trays), let them freeze over night. Remove them from the tray and put them into freezer storage bags then make a different kind of food. I have little munchkin bowls that came with lids, I will put either 2 or 4 cubes with the lid and throw it in the diaper bag for the baby sitter or if we are going out. With the reusable containers, I have to wait until they are used to make new food. I still use them but they aren't my favorite. The Infantino Fresh Squeezed are awesome on the go. They make little spoons you can buy for early stages of solids and then you just throw the bag away when you're done. Easy for outings!

First time mom here. This is the only freezer tray I’ve tried and so far I haven’t had any issues. To remove the cubes, I let the tray sit out for 5-10 minutes and they slide right out. If they don’t slide out easily, just let them sit a few minutes longer. I tried running it under water like other reviewers suggested but that just didn’t work for me. I much prefer letting them sit while I do other things and occasionally checking them to see if they’re ready to pop out. Once they’re frozen, I do move them into a freezer storage bag. I can fit a whole tray in a quart size freezer bag. Then for on-the-go, if I only need 1 cube I use the small containers that came with the Baby Bullet. For 2 cubes, I use the Oxo Tot 4 oz blocks.

I read a lot of other reviews for many baby foods before settling on this one. This one works exactly as described. Essentially it's a very well-made plastic ice tray. What makes this better than other ice tray is that its plastic is sturdy, each cube is at 1 oz, there's a lip so any spillage is contained, and a tight-fitting lid to prevent freezer burn. The footprint is slim and small; once frozen, you can line them up like filing folders. I also like that it's transparent. My pediatrician recommended giving my then 5-month-old baby 1 tablespoon a day. I measured out one tablespoon of my puree into one cube, and I was able to eyeball the rest of the cubes from the side. My now 6-month-old is obvious she wants more, so all I have to do is grab two of the 1-tbsp cubes. A lot of reviews complained about not being able to pop out the cubes. I haven't had any problems yet. I am able to apply gentle pressure on one side to slide it out after 5 minutes of taking it out of the freezer. To heat up the cubes, I put the cubes into a small mason jar, and submerge it into hot water (like I would heat up my breastmilk) (I am avoiding the microwave because I am using my milk to thin out the puree). I like these so much that I bought another set when these went on lighting deal. As a working mom, I love that I can take only one morning of a weekend to make her food to last a whole month. When she out grows this, I am sure I will be using these trays to make my lemon juice cubes that I always make ahead or freeze some herbs in olive oil. These are dishwasher-safe too. Update on 10/27/15 ~ My baby is now almost 11-month-old. From 5 month on to 9 month, I was still pureeing a lot of fruits and veggies and filling them out. Now that my baby is pass that, I am still finding myself using these more than ever. Here are some of the stuff I fill them with: - Grind up lean meat (chicken breast, pork chops, etc) - Grind up carrots, slices of ginger - Steamed apples (cubed), sliced bananas All these are great to have on hand for when you want to add some flavor to otherwise plain oatmeal or plain scramble eggs. I use them to make a small batch of rice porridge. Or just fry them up for a quick dinner.

I love these trays. I've seen reviews about the cubes being hard to remove.... I just take the tray out of the freezer and leave on the counter for 30-60 secs to defrost a bit and the cube slides right out. Seriously so easy. Each cube holds 1 oz. 1 tray holds about 2 pureed pears or zucchinis... I have 6 trays, so I usually go to Costco and buy a bag of organic fruit and veges, steam and puree and make as many cubes as I can. I even pop the cubes out and put in to Ziploc freezer bags when I have a lot to make. Easy to travel with or take to Grandma's. Have nothing bad to say about these

I would actually say 4.5 stars. I really like these trays, they hold a lot of puree and are holding up nicely. I've been using them for about two months now and have learned some tricks along the way. I use hot water on the bottom and lid of the trays to help remove the cubes, which so far has been working pretty well. Certain, higher density foods are harder to get out like beans and lentils. High water foods like applesauce and pears are very easy to remove. I get a little bit of ice crystals, but I remove the cubes the next day. I would say that hiving a good silicon spatula would be recommended when using the trays to take off excess food as well as remove air bubbles. These trays stack well and are easy to fit in the freezer. One tray fits well in a 1 quart freezer bag. I like that they are 1 oz sizing because I've been able to mix foods easily. My little one eats about 4 ounces in a sitting, so we are going through our food pretty quickly. I tend to make batches of food two sometimes three times a week. Two food items at a time. My little one loves the homemade food so much better than anything in a jar. There is no comparison in terms of flavor. Plus I get to play with textures and soon spices. I would recommend these to other parents. I especially like that the trays are made in New Zealand.

I used this food tray to make my first-ever homemade puréed baby food. First, I blended up a bunch of blueberries, peaches, and full-fat coconut milk in my Vitamix. Then, I poured the purée into each well, using a spatula to smooth it out and wipe up the sides. I placed the lid on top and stuck it in the freezer overnight. The next day, I set it briefly in a pan of warm water to help the portions un-stick. Following the instructions, I pushed down on one end of the frozen purée and it slid right up. I put the portions into a labeled, dated ziploc freezer back and returned them to the freezer. These will be great mixed with infant cereal, yogurt, or by themselves in a mesh teether! Next, I'm going to make some chicken-sweet potato-avocado purées for dinner time. This product is very easy to use if you follow the directions. Do NOT twist or bend it like an ice cube tray or you will break the plastic. It is top rack dishwasher safe. I wish I had bought a few more!

I love these for homemade baby food! I freeze purees in these, then transfer to labeled ziploc freezer bags within a day, to put in my deep freezer. As others mentioned, just run them under warm water to loosen frozen cubes. For thawing and feeding, I've found that Wean Green containers work perfectly! The 4 oz snap-lid glass cubes work great for one ice cube (fit diagonally) or the 5 oz rectangles work for two ice cubes. I have a round snap-lid glass pyrex from a multi pack, exact size unknown but they're small, that perfectly fits four ice cubes. So for my son who is trying solids for the first time, I can thaw different items in different quantities in each of these containers. We have it pretty well set for 5-15 seconds in the microwave, depending on whether its frozen or thawed. I have the 2 oz OXO 6-pack of plastic cubes... I don't think these will fit well prior to being thawed in those, and I don't like to microwave plastic, even if it's BPA free. Anyway, my big concern with these was whether i I'd find appropriate containers to thaw and serve in, and the combination of these trays with Wean Green for serving and thawing is ideal for us. (Wean Green found at Home Goods for $2-3 per container.)

If you're wondering if these trays are good, wonder no more! I'm here to tell you that they're amazing. After using hard plastic trays for my first baby 5 years ago and having to wedge a knife in to remove them I knew I needed something better for baby #2. The plastic was all tore up from the knives and I was worried about tiny plastic bits getting in the food. I was looking at silicone trays, but had actually just tossed out a couple silicone ice cube trays a few days before I started my search because the ice cubes smelled disgusting from the silicone so I knew I couldn't have the baby food smelling like that. When the smell is that potent, I question the so-called "food grade" quality. I came across these, watched the video, and decided to give them a try. While I haven't been able to get any out yet without running water over the back, I haven't had to use any knives! All it takes is about 5 seconds of water, of any temperature, to loosen the cubes and they push out just as easy as in the demonstration video. The plastic has NO odor. The cubes are the perfect size for a meal for a 6 month old just starting foods. I just got these last week, used them immediately (after washing of course), and instantly loved them! I've used them twice since then and it's still just as easy and perfect as it should be. Clean up is also super easy. Once removed, there's barely anything left behind, and I've found that even if I get some food on the top from missing the hole it tends to slide right in so they're practically mess-free, too! Seriously. BUY THESE! I wish I had them for baby #1. We spent so much time and frustration trying to dislodge the cubes from those trays. Don't wait! If you're using anything else that's anything less than perfect, toss it, and GET! THESE! NOW!
