These have been great! We used them last ski season (with season passes) and we take them off and put them on every trip. We live about 5-6 hours away from the closest ski town and traveled 8+ hours to Colorado. We have to drive in wind, rain, snow, and sun these have held up carrying 2 sets of skis, poles, and a snow board. I didn't see any sigh of major wear and tear after last winter. I believe that these will hold up for several more ski seasons. Great deal!

This is well made, basic, inexpensive ski rack. The picture currently only shows one closing rack, but you do get two - exactly what you need. The racks attach to crossbars; if your car does not already have them, you will need to purchase them separately. For factory crossbars (that have a cross section shaped like a skinny oval), the instructions state they can handle up to about 3.5"/99 mm wide and 1.7"/45 mm high. They attached perfectly fine to my Subaru Forester with factory crossbars. The cradle jaws on the are set up to handle stacked skis up to 2.0"/50 mm thick on the side that opens, and up to 1.5"/38 mm on the hinge size. This capacity to handle thick gear makes the rack much easier to close and open than some other inexpensive racks. This rack does lock, but a determined thief could probably smash the appropriate parts plastic to be able to detach the clamps from the crossbars. Alternatively, a determined thief could use a hex wrench to detach the crossbars from the side rails attached the car. I consider this rack completely adequate for use for a restaurant break on a long trip - assuming in a well lit parking lot, with a decent number of people coming and going. But, for an overnight stop I would take my gear out of the rack and stow it either indoors or in the car. The installation instructions could use a few tweaks to make things simpler and/or clearer. Here are my suggestions for other new users. 1) For the first step of installation, open *one* of the racks and remove the two locking covers from it. (Part #5 in diagram in step 1.) Attach the mounting clips (step 4). Put the locking covers back on. (This is just for reference.) Repeat for the other rack. 2) Open *one* of the racks and remove the two locking covers from it and keep the rack open until the end of step 5. (I recommend installing this rack completely before working on the second one.) 3) For step 5.1, you can loosen the knob (rather than remove) and then pull the bolt sideways out though the slit in the lower plate of the clamp. (If you *do* need to remove any of the knobs at any point, when putting the knob back on, make sure to put the notched side of the knob on first, not the smooth side. Doing it the other direction makes it possible for the inner, metal nut to separate from the plastic knob, which took me a while to diagnose and fix; learn from my mistake.) 4) For step 5.3, the lever looks like a bird's head and it has the circular "eye" at the top of the head when it is in the locked position. For removing the racks from your car, reverse the attachment steps: 1) open the rack (remove any gear), remove the locking covers 2) release the lever (from step 5.3) and *then* loosen the knobs

If you have a Mazda CX-5 and factory rails, this review will be specific to that vehicle. I wanted a long rack that could hold 4 pairs of skis, which this clearly can. I don't know if we're ski snobs, but me and my girlfriend each take 2 sets of skis with us when we go skiing. One set of groomer/resort skis, and one set of fat powder skis. Depending on conditions, we sometimes like to switch our skis during the day. The point is that this rack can accommodate 4 sets of skis, including 2 sets of 100+ mm-waisted powder skis. Ample room, it's great! Also, I really like the redundancy in safety this rack provides. The locking feature is number one. The way the rack is mounted to many different shapes of crossbars is another. There are multiple points of adjustment to get a secure fit, and a fool-proof retainer to prevent accidental opening of the mounting clamp. I am very satisfied with how this rack attaches to our factory cross bars, it's very sturdy and does not budge. HOWEVER, there was one problem that we had to resolve with respect to the Mazda factory crossbars. There is a plastic sleeve on the crossbar that the (much thinner) metal part of the bar fits into. However, on the rear crossbar, the distance along the metal crossbar is too short for the distance between the mounting clamps of this ski rack. With one clamp pushed all the way up against the end of the metal part of the crossbar, the other side clamp is on top of the plastic sleeve part of the crossbar (if you have these bars, you'll know what I mean). It's only about 1/2", but the thickness of the plastic sleeve is too much for this mounting clamp. However, there was a relatively easy fix. I simply cut off about 1" of the plastic sleeve on one side of the crossbar. I used a Dremel, which was a mess and a PITA, but it worked. A band saw would have been much cleaner, but I don't have one of those. There is still plenty of sleeve for the crossbar to go into, and there is no way this modification has affected the durability of the crossbars. After making this alteration, the rack goes on perfectly, and really holds skis well. The only minor complaint I have is that the overall size is rather bulky. Safe and secure for sure, but very bulky, I would NOT want to leave these on my car, they really reduce MPG's and increase noise. But it's advised to take them off anyway, as you don't want the hot sun and elements to ruin the rack or the soft rubber jaws of the rack. Overall, a highly recommended product, much less expensive than the brand name ones.

I wanted a better quality , not too pricey snowboard rack for my Jeep, I was very sceptical about this product because of one bad review that it had from a buyer...but i'm glad that I still went ahead and got it. I think INNO products are good in general, this snowboard rack looks great , its engineered fantastic, I mounted it in less then 15 minutes without using any tools. Arrived in 2 days, (I live in WI and it came from IN), has a locking system and fits very nice and tight on my square bars. Im really happy with the purchase !!!

I bought these for group trips up to the mountain with friends. Installation wasn't too hard even though trying to screw the racks onto my roof rack in below freezing temperatures was a pain. I did have a little trouble getting it on at first because of the rubber strip on my roof rack made the bar too thick, but after removing that the ski rack attached just fine. With two snowboards and s pair of skis I drove a total of 12 hours without any problems. The equipment was secure and the lock made me feel they were safe when I left them in the parking lot. I was really happy with this rack.

It took me a long time to figure out how to correctly install these. The instructions were not very clear at all. Once they were on, they worked perfectly. They are easy to take on and off now that I know how. My skis were secure and it fit great on the factory rack for my 2014 Kia Sportage. For the price, an excellent buy. Be warned, it would be very easy to install these incorrectly. Make sure you watch one of the many youtube videos that show how it is done. This one is great. [...] I would definitely buy again.

I use these racks as fishing rod holders on top of my Outback. I've carried both saltwater and freshwater rods with no problems. They mount securely to the factory roof racks. They are fairly easy to install and remove. The lock holds them firmly closed. The rubber inserts hold my rods without damaging them. I have made trips of almost 500 miles using these racks and have had no problem whatsoever. I'm very happy with the quality and construction of this product.

Sweet rack for the price. Successfully fit 2 boards side by side configuration and 4 adult snowboards stacked configuration in it and it performed flawlessly. Manually shaking it it is able to wiggle a little bit at the plastic portions that hold it together, but with the screws and locks and everything it holds tight. Flying at 90 MPH down the highway for 2 hours did not disturb anything. No noise from the wind hitting the boards and rack either. Glad I picked this up!

Paid $105 for this and saved over $160 between 4 of us renting nearby versus at the slopes. I have a rhino rack bar and the bolts provided were too short for the clamps to go around. I used the long bolts where the short ones should go and bought longer ones and everything worked fine. People be dumb thinking oh well it doesn't fit. Might as well make a negative review because I'm too dumb to get longer bolts. You don't need to spend $16 on a long bolt kit. Just go to the hardware store and get longer bolts.

I purchased this ski rack as an alternative to a higher priced equivalent Thule model for use on Thule crossbars on my Jeep. I couldn't be more pleased. It has held up perfectly on many back country ski trips into the Adirondack Mts. And in all conditions. The locks have performed well in both sub-zero and wet/icy conditions. They compare favorably to any other rack in this range.
