• Hangs on any cage. Wire Hooks bend easily for a more secure attachment.
  • Millet Spray locks firmly into holder.
  • Loose millet drops into tray, not cage bottom
  • Can be used for egg food, veggies, treats
  • Set directly on bedding for baby weaning and perch training

This millet holder is great, not just for millet sprays, but as a tray for other seeds too. It's big enough for my 2 keets to be on it at the same time, and does prevent millet from scattering as they pick at it. The central bar holds the spray down so they can pull off seeds. I also use the tray for feeding them quinoa, oatmeal, sunflower seeds and other treats. I keep it hooked over the lowest cross-bar so that there is less chance of the seed scattering as they graze. I don't know how it would hold up for a larger bird, but it's great for my parakeets.

This is a great idea! All of my birds like them and use them and it's much better than the typical hanging cages. My only complaint are the hooks that hold it on the cage. They are like some of the food dishes, the little hooks that move back and forth and when you are trying to hang them in the back of a large cage it's frustrating when they flip backwards and you have to take the whole thing out to flip them back. But, it's worth it because the millet stays in the holder instead of on the floor of the cage.

A must have for a bird owner! The horizontal holder makes feeding your birds millet so simple! No more trying to hang it from the side of the cage, just place it in the holder and when they have finished it, simply remove the stem and place fresh in.

We've had our cockatiel for 16 years and I've purchased every kind of millet holder I've seen through the years. None have worked well to keep the millet somewhat contained and as a result, he rarely was treated to it! Our guy has always seemed a little nervous when his cage arrangement gets changed but I placed this millet holder in his cage anyway. He ignored it for 4 days. My next attempt was to put one of his favorite perches right up next to the perch of the millet holder and then, he just avoided his favorite perch! On the third day though, I watched him as he ventured onto his favorite perch and then, as if he couldn't help himself any longer, he stretched over the millet perch and happily began eating the millet! Two days after that, he ventured off his perch, onto the millet perch, and has been using it ever since. This holder not only prevents wasting the millet that flies around but it absolutely contains the mess! We did have to "tweak" the hooks a little to get a secure hold on the cage but we're all happy now!

I love these and so do my zebra finches. I don't have to keep turning and juggling hanging millet anymore. They eat the whole thing now with little effort. I am so glad I got the three pack for my two cages. Just a hint: I am not the brightest star in the sky, but you have to crimp the wire around your cage wire to hold it firm. lol

Works for finches and canaries... I wouldn't go much larger, perhaps a budgie. The perch part is very narrow in diameter. For my birds, there was no initial fear when using this holder. Yes, it's light weight and a bit cheaply made, but it works very well. It stays on the cage, collects much of the hulls, creates a larger area so there's less "pecking order" to see who goes first. Remember, this is for small birds.

I'm a bit concerned about the fact that the ends of the top pieces aren't attached. That may be a safety feature; I don't know. It holds the millet well for my two parakeets. The important thing is, they love it!

I received the millet holder two days ago and my birds (2 green-cheeked conures and a cockatiel) just love this holder. They went right to it and began eating as soon as I installed it. Unlike some others reviewers, I had no trouble getting it to stay put. I didn't have to bend or adjust the little metal hooks in any way. The holder is easy to remove, clean and refill with millet. Since the holder is horizontal, most of the mess stays in the tray for later disposal. I recommend this millet holder above all others. Update: I still recommend this holder, but I will admit that the life of the holder is limited. My birds quickly figured out how to work the locking section in the middle. They finally just chewed off the locking tab so that the holder doesn't fully close. Even so, the holder still holds the millet since it's horizontal. I'd guess they'd have to make this out of metal to withstand birdy destructiveness. I'd buy another one when this one is kaput.

SMART DESIGN!!!!!! Works perfect for my parakeets. Holds the millet in place and the extra once just drop to the curved base. So it does not go to a complete waste. The bird perch is strong and my 6 birds looks adorable sharing the perch and eating all at the same time. I also have the spray holder that hangs from the top of the cage. Time to time my birds enjoy eating millet from that too. Something about hanging upside down from the top of the cage seems to excite them.

My finches love this millet seed holder. I was worried at first that the perch would be to far away from the seed holder for them to get it, but I need not have worried. I put a spray of millet seed in the first day I received it in the mail, and it is 98 percent gone. I'll have to replace it with another by the end of the day. I read where in a couple of the reviews the bird owner said their bird destroyed the holder. I think that has to do with what kind of bird you have. There are some breeds of birds out there that can be somewhat destructive. This millet seed holder really is built quite sound, and for smaller birds like finches, parakeets and the like I don't see much danger of that. It might also have to do with maybe the bird is bored. ?? All I know is this has worked out really well for me and my two finches. I can see they are going to get many years of enjoyment out of it.
