I love these filters, you get what you pay for. They are well constructed and hold their own even after 3 months use, it has no weak spots. Even when I get my a/c tech over to do a check of my 3 central a/c units, he is amazed how clean the attic part are. I even have the a/c unit that has an electric filter on the attic part and he showed me how clean they are. When you have a clean and well maintain unit means your unit will last longer. So choosing the right filter does make a difference.

Great filter. After speaking with the HVAC specialist that services my system I feel comfortable using the 1000 as it balances air flow and cleanliness. Pros -collects dust, dander and cat hair (3cats) -lasts anywhere between 2-3 months -arrow clearly indicates which direction to place tge filter (arrow towards furnance) Cons -filters are not individually wrapped (unused filters are stored in the garage where they can get dirty prior to use) If this review helped please leave a like.

Construction crew was grinding floors in the house without a proper suction vac to control the dust. I walked up and it looked like a war zone with a gray cloud of dust trailing out the door and dark as night inside the house. Oh that was so fun! Anyway, after they "cleaned up" I spent the past week washing, mopping, washing, and mopping. We are still getting white dust everywhere (because of course they forgot to turn off the A/C!). These filters are excellent at removing dust particles. Just be careful that you don't forget to change them because they will make your a/c unit work overtime. Here in Florida, we take care of our a/c because it takes care of us :)

I have used Filtrete filters for almost 2 decades and think the are the best. These are a lower rating (1000) than my usual purchase (1500) and think they will be fine with a activated charcoal prefilter (perhaps I'll add a very thin layer of AC window unit foam pre-filter that washable to aid in large particle dust collection). The HVAC man suggested I step down because he thought it would be 'more efficient for the motor' (since the landlord was concerned about it's longevity). The HVAC guys always say that though. Overall the condo is not very dusty so I'm giving the 1000 a try. I found a chart that compared it to MERV ratings and it was 11, whereas the 1500 was rated at 12--so not much difference if it's accurate.

I struggle with making concrete statements when it comes to air filters because without proper air quality testing it is very hard to know if you are getting your money's worth. My family suffers from allergies, so we bought these and they get very dirty after a few months so I assume they are doing what they are supposed to be doing.

I chose the Filtrete MPR 1000 as the best compromise between good air flow and clean air. For instance, old fashioned fiberglass filters can barely keep bugs and hair out of the system. But too tight a filter will strain--even damage--your air conditioner/furnace blower. A good pleated paper filter like the MPR 1000 strikes a sensible balance to help remove junk from the air and maximize air flow. They delivered four Filtrete MPR 1000 filters in two days inside two thick boxes. That eliminated my main concern--that shipping might crush the fragile cardboard frames. A four pack will last one full year, so I'm good to go. The price is cheaper than those carried by my grocery store (even when they have them in stock!) so the Filtrete MPR 1000 earns a solid five stars.

These are great- just be careful that too much filtration can OVERHEAT your heat and air units I was using the Filtrete dark blue 1500 rated filters and thought they were great. But eventually I found the air flow was less and less and then it almost stopped altogether. I had to call my Heat/ AC guys and they told me that if I used the higher rated filter (1500 or so, different for each system), the one that 'stopped' more allergens/ dust/ etc, that these high rated ones fill up quickly with all the gunk the catch, and that they can slow down the air flow so much that it may cause your heat/ AC machinery to overheat and damage itself. He switched me to the red Filtretes- they are rated 1000 and not 1500. If you truly need higher levels of filtration, make sure your heat/ ac system can handle it, and maybe you have to change the filters more often (the really highly rated filters grab EVERYTHING so all the dust etc builds up much more quickly and could block the air flow entirely in less time than say the red 1000 ones. So stay as low as you can on the ratings, but if you have to block extra things like dust or mites or allergens, ask your heat/ AC guy to tell you which filter to use, knowing it will capture this much dust/mites/ allergens, and how often you have to change it. Hope that helped, and good luck ps I myself am going to ask them if i can use the higher rated filters- say the 1500s- if i switch them out much more often. we'll see.

Was initially worried about purchasing this filter because I have such a small air intake output in my house. Sorry, don't know the correct wording for it. But I love it. It's been 2 months since the initial filter went in and I still haven't had any problems. It apparently does its job because I'm no longer having Asthma attacks like I was with my previous filters.

A 4.6 is pretty Good, I give it a 5!!! I recently had a new central air unit installed, forgetting to even put a new filter in. As a 3 dog home, and some one with terrible sinuses (2 surgeries to open them) I do all I can to breath easy. Air ionizer, Honeywell air purifier, and got wondering why my sinuses started acting up at night......the old filter! These came today, I came right home, replaced the old (covered in layers or dust and hair and whatever else) Put the new one in it's place. After a good 5-6 hours, the house smells better, and the air is simply, easier to breath. I found my new go to! The air is just fresh and clear. Great price, Great filter.

The improvement of air quality, when switching from the entry-level Filtrete micro filters is quite noticeable. This filter does a great job of filtering debris and some odors, delivering a better return on investment than the highest-level Filtrete micro filters (which seem only marginally better for almost twice the price). These filters seem to be the best balance between quality and price, in the 3M Filtrete lineup.
