It's Ghirardelli 60% Cacao Chocolate Chips! My 91 year old auntie wants a small dish to stay FULL of these in her room at all times. She loves to nibble on them ... and she heard on some medical health show that chcocolate (REAL CHOCOLATE) is GOOD for you! She is 91 - try arguing with her!

Most premium chocolate for dipping is $10 to $20 a pound plus shipping, but at this Add-On price of $5.24 for 20 ounces, this chocolate is near-premium at an attractive price. I like to make fine chocolates at home, made with proper tempering, and these "baking" chips are a great value for me. For my taste I tend to prefer a chocolate that is mid-way between milk chocolate and bitter-sweet dark chocolate. I have a very good source for high quality milk chocolate at a favorable price that I blend about 60/40 or 70/30, with these Ghirardelli Bittersweet baking chips being the lesser part. When properly melted and tempered, this blend makes a tasty dipping chocolate with nice snap, mouth feel, and flavor. In any event, it is very, very much superior to the imitation-chocolate-like concoction that comes on low cost box chocolates, and waxy Easter chocolate candy. In my opinion, this is very nice economically-priced, good quality dark chocolate. Those popular peanut-butter cups with the name that begins with "R" are pretty darn tasty, but it is easy make a superior tasting version at home for only about 1/3 the cost. And when you make them at home, they won't incorporate the controversial laboratory-created chemical fat substitute for cocoa butter that "R" uses to lower their cost.

It's not always easy to find Ghirardelli white chocolate chips. I make this tasty mix with it 2 bags white chocolate morsels-- Ghirardelli is best 3 Tbsp oil 1 15oz bag small pretzels 1-12oz bag M&Ms 4 cups salted peanuts 6 cups corn Chex Put Chex, peanuts, M&Ms, and pretzels in large bowl. (Hint: cut a small hole in pretzel bag and shake out the excess salt before adding to bowl). Put chocolate and oil in microwaveable bowl. Microwave 1 minute. Stir. microwave 30 seconds. Stir. If it's not completely melted microwave only 5-10 seconds at a time, stirring each time until smooth. If your microwave is powerful (1000 watts or more) reduce power to 70% (power level 7) Pour melted chocolate over mix, stirring gently with wooden spoon. Spread out on waxed paper to harden. Eat & enjoy!

These chips are bigger than any of the common brands -- they are more like little discs with a pointy center. They are delicious in chocolate chip cookies and hold their shape with baking at 375. I really like them because they are not too sweet and the flavor of the cookie really enhances the chocolate and vice versa. I used the recipe on the package but used in gluten free Bobs GF baking "flour" 1:1 substitute. I also used European butter and boy, oh boy -- best cookies ever. I'm hooked.

These little chocolate chips are so much better than I could have ever imagined. Lot of the reviews said they were tasting okay was halfway decent. You can pop these things right into your mouth and eat them plain and it really good even my five-year-old son said wow they're good. Now it's not Hershey's milk chocolate bar but it's 60% dark chocolate so you're getting a lot of health benefits and really the balance with the flavor definitely in favor of the flavor. I do want to say that they're not mini chocolate chips they are a little bit bigger than your normal ones but I put a couple in my son's oatmeal this morning it wasn't even that hot and they mailed it right away so they have good melting capacity.

These baking chips are a great change up from milk chocolate chips. Since they're 60% cacao are still semi-sweet to my taste, not bittersweet, but I think they're better for most baking. A great value pound for pound compared to getting same at most grocery stores, if you could find them.

The ingredients of this product on Amazon.com indicates that the chips contain organic unbleached wheat flour. I contacted Ghiradelli directly to obtain clarification since these are also advertised as being "gluten free" on Amazon.com. This is Ghiradelli's response to my inquiry: "Thank you for contacting Ghirardelli Chocolate. Ghirardelli currently offers one product which contains a gluten ingredient which is our Milk Hazelnut Crisp Squares. The Milk Hazelnut Crisp Squares contain barley malt as an ingredient. As a result, the line on which our Chocolate Bars and Squares are produced, share a common line with barley gluten. The Ghirardelli Chocolate Chips (Mini Semi Sweet, 60% Bittersweet, Double Chocolate Bittersweet, Semi-Sweet, and Milk Chocolate) line and powder line (hot chocolates and baking cocoas) will remain free of gluten ingredients. However, our Classic White Chips are made in a facility that uses wheat. Ghirardelli takes the following measures to reduce cross contamination on our production lines: lines are cleaned between the changing from one product to the next. Below is the correct ingredient list for the Semi Sweet Chips and the allergen information. Description A 12 oz. bag containing Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips. I actually eat these as a snack. I really like them just by themselves they’re perfect. And they’re just the right amount we can only have like 10 or so and it’s a great little snack and it’s not terribly unhealthy. It’s also really good if I don’t make cookies or chocolate dipped anything. I haven’t had the melt in transit and I’ve ordered them a few times so that’s nice. I definitely recommend them. Gihaddeli makes wonderful chocolate

These are the only chocolate chips that I use - they have a rich dark chocolate taste and are oversized which makes for a much tastier cookie. I've purchased at amazon previously and appreciated the fact that they are much lower priced than my local grocers but was concerned about them melting now that the weather is so warm. They came the day after ordering and were packed with a cold pack and foam protection. Perfect condition in 100 plus degree heat. I use 2-1/2 packs each time I make a batch of chocolate cookies, so buying 6 at a time is great. Could not be more grateful to amazon for the great price and the extra shipping care. Thank you.

I used these to make homemade chocolate truffles for Christmas. I bought two bundles and was able to make a huge amount of truffles, three different flavors including enough to have their own chocolate shell. The chocolate in this product is definitely superior to what you can get at your local grocery store and is more than likely the same price if not a little cheaper for the quantity you are buying. My father and he did a comparison taste test between these and the Tollhouse chocolate chips that we had on hand and found that these are definitely richer in taste and a little smoother as well. If you have a head for making treats, and you want to do something special for the holidays or that special someone, I highly recommend using this product as one of your ingredients.
