My mom ordered this on my account but she seems to love the heck out of it. She's mentioned how much easier it for her to feed the fabric into the machine and prevents it from bunching up or something like that. All I know is that she loves it; so much so that I was given a grand tour of her new setup along with all the new things she plans on making as well as a litany of questions of what I thought about it (I know absolutely nothing about sewing). When she gets this excited about things, I know she really likes it. So, definite thumbs up!

This is a basic sewing machine table with adjustable height. It is suitable for regular and large sewing machines. This table is subject to shipping damage by shippers who pile heavy objects on top of it. The first one had a cracked table top, but was quickly replaced with an undamaged unit. It weighs thirty pounds and is stable with a heavy machine. The user can adjust its height to improve comfort and functionality. It also has strategically placed wheels that make it easy to move when packing for events away from home.

I recently got back into sewing and had been using my kitchen table as my sewing table. Although roomy, it's a counter height table so I had trouble reaching the peddle to my machine; I had to sit on the very edge of the seat and that wasn't very comfortable. In addition to the seat height issues, it was becomming more and more of a pain in the behind to move the machine, my quilt, all my supplies and such every night for dinner. I needed a solution and started looking for tables/cabinets. I was really overwhelmed by the selection of sewing tables and cabinets out there. Sure, some of them were very nice but I couldn't imagine spending more on a stand for my machine than I paid for the machine itself. I wanted something very low frills that allowed me to drop my machine bed even with the surface. I happened across this one on a free motion quilting blog and watched several videos on how the Gidget II sets up easily. I was a little skeptical that it'd be sturdy enough but, since I could find no other options that I liked, I decided to go for it. I was very plesantly surprised. The Gidget 2 is a very solid table and, even at high speeds, doesn't move much at all. Setting it up was a breeze and it's light weight enough that I can move it easily if I need to. So far, I've only machine pieced one quilt and made several grocery bags but I have to say, it's got all the room I need for what I have been doing. I like how there's a measuring tape decal on the top front of the table - I find myself using it more and more. Construction Yes, some people may complain that it is made out of fiberboard. I don't really see that as an issue. It's laminated with a very sturdy, almost countertop type laminant and has a nice thick plastic edge for a bumper. In my opinion, it's a very nice look - very clean and minimal - that doesn't take away from my machine's own asthetics. As I mentioned earlier, it's solid. It doesn't jiggle or move much at all when I'm sewing at higher speeds and that's important. So far, it's been easy to clean, too. I don't currently have a plastic insert yet so little bits of fuzz, lint, snipped threads and so on fall down on the drop down table part and collect there. I just take a damp cloth and wipe them off into the trash can I keep at my sewing station. No problem at all. One added feature that I like (but haven't used yet) is the ability to collapse it and take it with me if I need to. It has some really nice wheels (almost like the ones on luggage but slightly bigger) so dragging it around is very easy. I plan on heading to craft fairs/events in the future and would like to take my machine with me and this table can go along. It's about four inches tall once it's collapsed, so it'll fit nicely into my trunk! Final thoughts I think this is a bargain for the price and would definitely recommend this table to anyone looking for a good solid, no frills table for their machine!

I didn't want to spend a great amount of money for a new sewing machine table. When I saw this one it look like it would be just the table for me. This is a very stable table. I had watched several videos on this table and when I received it I set it up to fit my machine and then ran the machine at high speed with a glass of water sitting on the table. The water didn't shake at all. I had seen this demo in one of the videos so I decided to try it for myself, however, I didn't have anybody stand on the machine. I didn't order the Plexiglas insert because my machine isn't made like the ones shown in some of the videos. I have a 30 year old Singer Futura II machine that doesn't have a pull away front piece to reveal the free arm, although it is a free arm or flat bed machine that converts differently. My neighbor is in the construction business and I talked to him regarding an insert and he is going to make one for me from plywood that will cover the whole open area completely around the machine with two finger holes in the insert so that it can be removed, etc., and paint it white to blend with the table.

I was a little leary about buying this because I was concerned about stability. The only problem I had was the length of the chain that holds the drop down section but that was an easy fix. The best way to get great use of this table is to contact Arrow and have a custom insert made for your machine. They are reasonable and pretty much a necessity. I will probably order another insert for my other machine. I can work at my machine longer because it puts everything at the right height. Sorry I did not do this sooner!

Bought the larger size for embroidery machine and was so pleased with it,I ordered this one. Making my sewing room all around these 2tables...white bookcases for fabric and white painted dresser for all other quilting needs . Still work in progress but these are sure to please. Intend to take large one to FL for winter as it fits embroidery machine so well.

This is a great device for the money. There has been some comments about the lack of finish in obscure parts of the table. In fact they 'go away' when one gets and installs an acrylic form fitted insert. Such (insert)is almost obligatory for best function like sewing ( just a fer instance ). This sewing table is very well built, for the money. While not many favor particle board it can be lived with if one realizes that it is not to be danced upon. The steel tubular frame is well executed and most sufficient to provide robust support and give long life. The height adjusting insert is clever enough, it may seem basic but in fact is very functional and permits both fine and gross adjustments. The next step in the sewing machine table hierarchy was a bit shocking to me. I did not find a middle ground and after looking I ran over and patted Ol' Gidget2 and told it how wonderful it was. For 180 dollars I found no flaws. There are other Gidget models for less money and if you have a sewing machine with a foot print not large than the Brother PQ 1500 or the Juki TL series 'class' they will be even better as they will fit so close ( their insert/opening being considerably smaller ) you could successful avoid the 50 dollars + S&H for a fitted acrylic insert.

I bought this before going on a sewing retreat. We each get a 6' banquet type table to work on, but I think that would be an uncomfortable way to spend 3 days... plus I want to do some free motion quilting. The acrylic extension table that comes with a Janome Horizon or Elna Excellence fits beautifully on the top of this table. So no need to buy an insert. The Janome/Elna table that is similar in size to this table costs up to $600 .. and doesn't fold down. (But for $600, you get one little drawer!) Also.. the Janome/Elna table does not have the machine surface be adjustable to allow you to raise your machine to enjoy the open arm on that table. So I bought this one. It's an amazing purchase for about $180. The machine surface is adjustable so your machine can be "out of the hole" and your free arm accessible. Very solid for a portable table. I have mine on a carpeted floor... and not noticing any vibration - even when I crank up my machine. That might be different if this were sitting on a hard floor.

I absolutely love it! The Gidget II is exactly as advertised. My larger machine (Janome Horizon 7700) fits perfectly. I had read many of the reviews before ordering the table do I was aware that I might need to adjust the depth of the platform for the machine and yes, I needed to make the adjustment, but it honestly was not difficult at all to do! All it took was some measuring first to determine what the depth should be, then determine how many of the links needed to be taken up in the chains and finally I had to remove the two screws holding the chains and then shortened the chains by putting the screws through a different link in each chain. It took maybe 5 minutes tops to adjust the chains. I also followed the advice of another reviewer and used the portable plexiglass sewing surface which came with my machine ( minus the legs on that surface) and that sits nicely in front and partially around my machine now so I didn't need to purchase a plexiglass insert for the Gidget!
