This stuff is a life saver! I'm the person mosquitos bite when nobody else gets it. In fact, my husband doesn't have to worry about bug spray as long as I'm around. Neither do my friends. They will zoom in on me from miles away & they think I'm the prime rib on an all you can eat buffet. I've tried every spray, lotion, oil, candle, plant, etc known to man & I still get tore up. That's where Repel sport comes in. If this stuff prevents me from getting bit, it'll work for anyone! I can put this on in the early morning & stay mosquito free all day! I do reapply if I sweat or go swimming, but I can finally enjoy my patio again! I'm not exaggerating when I say they seek to destroy me. Somehow they even get in my house daily, & eat me alive if I'm not wearing Repel. I sit on the couch with a light blanket on me to try to keep them off. I even get bit through my jeans. It wouldn't be so bad if it was a little itch for a minute and gone, but no. Its not like that for me. I swell up & itch & hurt for a week with every bite. I have about 30 bites on me right now, but that's my fault. I didn't put my bug spray on Saturday evening while I was outside. I keep a bottle of this on my patio, a bottle with my camping gear, & take a bottle with me anytime I plan to be outdoor. Life is miserable without it.

I recently took this bottle to Haiti with me. We were staying outdoors for 8 days and I needed something strong to keep the bugs away. I did not get a single mosquito bite while wearing the Deet. I would walk through swarms of flies on the street and not be touched by a single one, which I was pretty happy about since I hate bugs! I would spritz onto all my exposed skin in the morning (didn't even need to rub it in!) and would re-apply every six hours or so. I was expecting a very strong smell like regular bug spray, but it actually had a very light scent. Did not ruin any of my clothes and did not irritate my skin whatsoever. After several uses a day for 8 days, I had well over half a bottle left, so this will last a while if you use only the amount you need! Overall I was very satisfied with this product. Would definitely buy again.

For a two-week trip around Costa Rica this August, I thoroughly researched the best insect repellents, especially as I am highly allergic to mosquitoes (I get massive welts that itch--and are often hot to the touch--for days). I also worried about the no-seeums and sand flies. We planned to trek through multiple rainforests and spend some time in the hot, humid Caribbean, so I wanted to be well covered! Originally, I thought I needed a 100% DEET product, but after much research, I learned that it was not necessary to have such a high concentration (which could also cause adverse reactions). I decided to go for products in the 30-40% DEET range, and ended up buying three different ones: the Repel Sportsmen MAX pump spray, the Repel wipes, and the Ultrathon cream. I am writing this review to say that ALL of them worked well, BUT I HATED using Ultrathon. Like some reviews said, it is very sticky (does not absorb into skin). Therefore, everything sticks TO you! Dirt, sand, bugs...you name it. AND once stuck, it is almost impossible to get things like sand and dirt off without a heavy-duty scrubbing (brushing only smears everything). When you are already in a hot, humid climate, bug repellent makes you feel dirty as it is; Ultrathon, however, made me feel the ickiest. The Repel pump spray and wipes never had the sticky problem, worked very well, and did not smell offensive (except a little when you first apply them--outdoors, of course). Therefore, I'd recommend them instead. I'd actually recommend getting BOTH Repel products. The wipes are good for carrying in a pocket and using quickly. They are especially good for small areas like your neck. I also tucked them in the bottom of my hiking pants (which cinched) to ward off sand flies while looking at turtles nesting on the beach at midnight. I even used them to wipe down for a little extra protection when in some of the more "rustic" accommodations at night. The Sportsmen MAX spray, however, was good for a more hands-free application (with Ultrathon and the Repel wipes, you have to wash your hands THOROUGHLY for several minutes after using them--especially with Ultrathon). The Repel spray was also good to spray on clothes (for things I either hadn't pre-treated with the Sawyer permethrin spray or things that were water-proof so that the permethrin wouldn't sink in). I think it was also easier to cover larger areas of skin. One precaution (that I probably should've realized--duh): wait until your pores close after taking a shower or bath before applying either of these products. I made the mistake of using the Repel wipes very soon after showering, and my skin was on FIRE! I also broke out in a huge red rash. I immediately jumped in the shower again, and everything cleared up shortly thereafter. I reapplied the repellent after waiting 30 minutes, and I was fine. Over two weeks, I hardly got any bites at all, even when SWARMED by mosquitoes for hours! Most of the bites I got actually occurred indoors in bathrooms (when I wasn't wearing anything). I only got, maybe, 3 or 4 outdoors (two of them on my butt through untreated hiking pants--that's when I started spraying a little Repel on my clothes, too!).

Purchased after friend that works for CDC recommended that I get 40% Deet+ for traveling in warm climates with Zika virus. I wore this on a recent trip to Florida. The smell was strong but not overwhelming. It was present but not obnoxious. I even applied before a very fancy schmancy dinner and didn't feel like everyone would notice I wore bug spray. My one tip for hopeful mams or in my case, mothers who want more children but also want to vacation in warm climates... apply after getting the shower. I recommend you put this all over yourself. I'd avoid on children. Keep this product for adult use only or rub into limbs of children since it is high in DEET.

This is the best insect repellent product that I have found. It's been a life saver this summer. I live in an area where I will have 20 mosquito bites walking 10 steps to the mailbox...It was so awful this summer I didn't even want to go outside...until I bought this product. I had NO bites at all after spraying this and I take my dog for multiple walks. I couldn't believe it. I wish I had found it earlier. highly recommend

Just found out we're expecting and to prevent to Zika Virus I purchased this and Sawyer Permethrin (I'll be helping out on a farm so wanted something extra special for clothes). Even though I don't smell as good as a nice fragrance or lotion....an just straight up bug spray...it's highly worth it. I spray down before I go outside, spraying my feet, legs, arms, neck and finally my clothes. I wear dresses that are long or either to my knee cap so I make sure that everything that is exposed is sprayed down. The smell is strong when spraying so I use a soft cotton cloth (my babies 100% cotton Aden & Anais Burp Bib), I hold it over my nose and spray away! I highly recommend for, must importantly, pregnant women in these days with the Zika Virus...purchase a huge load..even Walmart has them in stock. Spray down every day before going out, even if its on your porch. Reapply when you fill the need to. Try to stay inside as much as you can if possible and instead of having the windows rolled down in your car, turn the air conditioner on...saves money too (gas wise). If you need to spray your face, spray in your hands first and then apply to face. Might want to also consider mosquito bracelets...they do not have deet (which I do not like) but I heard that some do help a little bit with using strong natural scents. In general I would say if you needed a good bug repellant, you need deet as an ingredient and preferably! This product does a great job at that! Thinking about getting the 100 Deet max for when working out on the farm a couple days a week. Great product.will be applying all summer long and beyond!

Bought this for travel to the Caribbean. Understand being nervous about using Deet but it definitely works. A friend of mine got a mosquito born virus while traveling, I'd rather use the Deet for a week than risk that. There was a night when some of us had it on and some didn't. The ones who did not use the spray got bit at least 8 times. Those who did spray it, none

I love this stuff compared to many other brands of Deet-based repellents. This has less of an oily-greasy feel than the others I have tried and works just as well or better. I like that it is NOT a pressurized aerosol so I can open the top and pour out a little into a small bottle to keep in my pocket when I don't want to carry a big spray bottle. The pump spray works very well and makes just as fine a spray as pressurized aerosols do for me. I have bought three of these bottles now and plan to buy more to replace my last one when it is running out. Note that the price per ounce of actual repellent is much better in this container than in a pressurized aerosol and the flat bottle fits more efficiently in bags and glove compartments than a totally round pressurized aerosol. .

It kept the bugs away while ok vacation in Chincoteague, VA mid August, but beware. Don’t wear anything other than your clothing. It removed (and smeared everywhere) nail polish and my daughters necklace, which is some sort of black faux leather, left black marks on her neck. I guess something is making those things break apart. Other than that, it definitely does what it’s supposed to. Hiking on a forest trail, surrounded by water and wildlife, it kept the mosquitoes from biting.

There are plenty of positive reviews and I can vouch for them by saying this stuff works. I spent 11 days in Africa using this. I was not bitten by even one mosquito (in combination with treated clothing). Just keep this in mind... One bottle goes a long way. If you are wearing short sleeves, long pants and a hat, one bottle will go at least two weeks treating your arms, neck and as much of your ears/face as is safe, 2-3 times a day. I think you could add your legs into that and still make it through two weeks. I bought way too much. If you get one bottle per adult, you have more than enough to go two weeks. Try and do this with a way to wash or wipe your hands afterwards. You are going to have to get it on your hands to get it on your neck and chin (or you better, spraying it around your eyes/mouth/nose is just a bad idea). I had some wet wipes with me so I would do the bug spray then use a wet wipe to clean my hands. Clean water was precious in Africa so I didn't waste any on my hands. The smell is perfectly tolerable. It did not overwhelm me or anyone else I was traveling with.
