• If temperatures are over 85 degrees F. in your area, please choose expedited shipping. A favorite "good bug," ladybugs have been a popular beneficial insects for the past 20 years
  • When released at sundown (because they don't fly at night), ladybugs eat aphids, mealy bugs, scale, leaf hoppers, and other destructive pests
  • They keep on eating until the bad guys are gone
  • Ladybugs prefer to eat aphids and will devour up to 50 a day
  • You will receive approximately 4,500 live Lady Bugs plus Hirt's Nature Nectar

Almost all the beetles arrive alive and kicking, maybe a 100 dead of 4500 . . . . maybe. The Nature Nectar did seem to help keep them around until they settled. I was so pleased I reordered a month later for a slower release and when they arrived there had been damage to the package and the ladybugs inside had been harmed. I notified Hirt's via email of the specifics and received a response in 3 minutes. Yes, that's right, 3. They made restitution for the issue even though it wasn't their fault (stupid USPS, LOL) and I could not be more satisfied. Hirt's Gardens is my "bug place" from now on.

The stars had aligned, just the right moisture, just the right temperatures, and my garden was suddenly under attack. I’ve avoided insecticides for years, I didn’t want to start now. The lady bugs pretty much all flew away, but not until the enemy was decimated. Hopefully the lady bugs laid some eggs and I’ll see more than usual in the future, but even if I don’t, it was worth it. They probably helped reduce the whole neighborhhod’s population of pests!

I got these creatures (plus some lacewing eggs) because something was eating my poor little plants. I dumped them out late at night and they immediately found homes on various leaves, grasses, trees, etc. The next day we had ladybugs wandering all over the garden, the yard, and spilling into the neighbor's yard. I didn't mind that they were "getting away" because I figured that if they cleaned up the neighbors yards as well as mine then all of us would be happy. Well worth the investment. It has been several weeks and we have gone from 'not a ladybug in sight' to 'ladybugs, ladybugs, everywhere!' I even brought a few in to protect my indoor plants that also seemed to be under attack. I highly recommend these bugs if you want to try non-chemical plant protection. Make sure you follow the instructions - they are very clear and very easy to follow - and you will be fine. One word of caution - if your mail gets delivered in a sunny spot and you are not able to pick up your mail as soon as it's delivered that day, either ask someone to get it for you or make arrangements with your Post Office Person to place it in a shady spot or hold it at the main office. The ladybugs do not handle high heat well, so sitting in the sunshine, in a box, is very much like leaving a dog in a locked car -- DON'T DO IT!!! I wonder if people who have had problems may have been victims of accidental over-exposure to heat? Ours came right from teh Post Officer to the indoor, took a rest on the basement floor, then slept in the fridge until night time. Perfect! I will definitely get more of them next year.

OMG!!! This was s great experience! I was a bit nervous to order because others had written reviews about many lady bugs being dead in arrival. There was NOT ONE dead ladybug!!!!!!!! That's pretty impressive! The instructions were great! I followed them exactly. The ladybugs did not fly away because I sprayed they with a sugar water solution. It was a really fascinating experience to release them and I shared it with my 5 year old neighbor.

Aside from the fact that my mailman squashed the box, I was very please with the order. Most of the ladybugs arrived alive, there was a fair number of dead, but that is just what happens. (every shipment of ladybugs I have ordered from a variety of companies will have a number of dead bugs in it...it's just how it is) I would say only about 1/4 at most where dead, so a bit better than average. They were released yesterday, and in a few hours had stripped my plants clear of aphids. There are still a lot hanging out today, but most have moved on. I'm hopeful that this will be the final boost we need to keep our population up and keeping the aphids clear. If not, I'll be coming back to this seller to order more in the spring.

I released the ladybug packets intermittenly in 6 week intervals which seemed to work well. All of the bugs arrived in good shape and lasted well in the fridge. The releases were fun and beneficial activities. I am definitely seeing an improvement in the infested areas and would definitely recommend this product.!!!

i do not see one lady bugs dead at all they are very very active when i open the box and shipping was fast but i pay for the fastest shipping there was. very happy again i didnt have to contact or email the seller at all. until the lady bugs died then i contact the seller. but the bad part was that after 4 days about 90% died and i tryed to contact the co. finally got respond and they said sorry cannot resend i guess they don't know how to treat a customer right. i wont be coming back to this co. due to fact they wont reship and why they died in 4 days..

Fast delivery of healthy ladies. They do their job and move on. I used in greenhouse for fungus gnats with fairly good results. I suspect it will be necessary to make a habit of ordering these. I kept them in fridge and they were fine. I also used in garden for whiteflies with no effect. Will order again.

The packaging made it easy to handle the bugs. All the bugs arrived alive, which isn’t always the case.

We order lady Bugs every spring to release into our back yard, not only for the pests but our daughter LOVES releasing and playing with them. This was our first time ordering from this company. Initially our order arrived and it appeared to be the incorrect amount. It is was obviously a smaller order. But they were all alive and well. So we contacted the company about this. They were very quick to reply. They sent out another batch very quickly. We like how they include necter to feed them so they stick around your yard. We refrigerated them right away and waited 5 days to release them. Most were still alive and well. Of course your cannot expect all of them to be alive since they have difference cycles. So having a small handfull of them dead is normal. Will order from them again!
