I've used this thing basically every day for the past 3 years and its still going strong. Once in a while I have to descale the inside, I think even filtered water leaves mineral deposits. Also, the plug where it connects to the back of the machine is a little finicky and pulls a little loose sometimes, causing a scary crackling sound and sometimes smoke. Its not dead yet though and seriously, these little guys are a major upgrade to your morning and evening if you drink coffee and tea.

Moving to a smaller not as fancy home, one of the things that I didn't want to give up was having instant hot water. So I went on Amazon.com and began my research. After reading many reviews and assessing the prices, I chose the Secura. I wanted a large pot, ease of use and low cost. The Secura appeared to have everything that I wanted. After using it for two months I am very pleased. It carries more hot water than the one that I had installed in my sink in my former home, has excellent tasting water, and is super easy to use. Read the booklet that it comes with, there is a simple way to prepare the pot for use. I drink tea and instant coffee, and I must say that I am so happy that this is a convenience in my day to day life that I don't have to give up.

I got this a few months ago after my Zojirushi stopped working after just a few years (shouldn't these things run for 10+years like they're supposed to, given how expensive they are????) . I'm used to the Zojirushi pricing, and was skeptical about this one. I bought it purely because of one reason: stainless steel interior. I don't like Zojirushi much and am surprised Zo has so many fans (I was fooled into buying one and never liked it that much). Not only my Zojirushi had a short life span, Zo also has non-stick teflon-like coating. Whatever it is they coat, it couldn't be safe, given it boils my water 24x7, something's gotta leak into my water at constant high temperature. Do I want to bet my family's long term health on that? The Secura, on the other hand, came in quickly after I ordered, I carefully saved the box and receipts, having the skeptism that it might just break within 30 days. I'm happy to announce that this thing survived and well! Pros: - Stainless steel interior. This is my single biggest concern when I selected a water boiler (or rice cooker). Google Teflon and you'll see a lot of discussion on that, Even if manufacture or FDA (gasp!) says it's safe, it only means they don't have long enough of a data collection period or smart enough to make connection with long term effects in various organ yet. Do I really want to be their guinea pig, after the same government allowed us to use BPA in plastics only to say "Oops!" years later, and I had already boiled BPA bottles in a traditional effort to "sterilize", over and over again, for my first born? nuh uh, I rather be more proactive, I don't want to have another "Oops" many years later when they finally have the ah hah moment and make a clear connection. - the electric one touch pump (I expected this out of expensive ones like the Zo, but didn't expect much out of cheaper models). So yeah, I'm happy. - you can also push your cup against a tab so hot water comes out (after unlocking it, of course). It's handy since I'm constantly in demand in the household as a waitress (don't we all love it?), I always had my hands full, so having two cups in hand, push one cup against the tab, get the water, then move the other hand and another cup in place, get water, then get out. Saves me that extra few seconds of putting one cup down, switch cup with one hand.... you get the idea. A few seconds seems nothing, but if I have to do it many times a day, it does add value to my humble life. - large interior. 4 qt is pretty sizable. My Zojirushi was smaller than that, and I frequently had to add water. Maybe that contribute why it takes a bit longer to fully boil this thing. Cons: The following cons are very subjective, and they honestly don't bother me much, but thought I should mention it to people who mind. - takes a little longer to heat up cold water (full tank). I usually stock up on cold water when I know I'm not going to require any hot water in the next 15-20 minutes. So I haven't been in a position of watching desperately at a pot. Not an issue for me. I think it's only a few minutes longer than my Zojirushi. I never precisely timed both, but since I do this on a daily basis, the difference is Long enough for me to note. Then again, it could be because the interior handles more water than my old Zojirushi. So I'm not even sure it's a scientific comparison, but want to note here that from an absolute timing stand point, it does take longer to boil a full tank of cold water. - The electric cord does NOT come off if you move the water boiler. My Zojirushi and some other predecessor all had magnetic type of cord that easily come off when you move it. I honestly don't see this as a con, but objectively, I can see why it should sever when being moved, just in case there's an accident in the kitchen. But I tucked my water boiler into a 90 degree corner, on a wide counter, far away from sink or any potential hazards, I don't allow my kids into anywhere near the stove or boiler and they know their limit (even if they don't, they can't even reach it, nor do I play around with this at my leisure. It doesn't bother me at all, in fact I'm liking it now that it doesn't come off, I don't accidentally face a pot of cold water during a time when I needed to make tea, and found the cord accidentally disconnected just because I might have moved the boiler by a nanometer. - as some users said, it does look cheap up on the top. The plastic handle looked flimsy, but again I don't care, you get what you paid for, as long those plastics are NOT on the inside, I'm fine. Only time will tell how long will this last, but I'm past my inflection point for this product, it lasted long enough for me to come back to this link to write a review. If it breaks after this I'll accept fate, because it brought me so much joy so far. Some reviewer says the outside gets hot. I put my hand over it during boiling, it's warm to the hand for sure, but it's not hot enough to peel off my skin, and I don't see a difference bewteen the Zojirushi exterior temperature and this one. They were all pretty warm. Again for this price, I don't think I should expect a completely insulated stainless steel product. My small thermos drinking bottle already cost $30 from Amazon. A lunch for 4 at a low quality chain restaurant today cost nearly $50 just by eating sandwiches and fries. I think for this price, it's a very pleasant surprise. If you want to have hot water readily available and don't want to spend much money on an expensive one, I definitely recommend this one. This is coming from a former Zojirushi user.

Love this appliance - everyone in the office uses it for tea or cocoa. It is a little clunky to refill because the lid is large and you really need to remove it entirely to avoid getting burned if it is in continuous use like mine. Some previous reviewers mentioned that the water won't pump out, I noticed that when it gets down to 1 quart of water it doesn't build enough steam to pump the water out, but we just refill it once or twice a day and its fine.

I really enjoy this product. I have instant boiling water whenever I want it. No heating in the microwave or on the stove, no teakettles or coffee machines. This is especially nice in the summer when you don't want to heat up the kitchen or mess with pots and pans. I use it when serving ice cream too. The scooper can be rinsed in boiling water dispensed right from the machine, which makes even the firmest ice cream easy to scoop! You get perfect, easy scoops, scoop after scoop. Try it and see.

I've used an electric tea kettle for years and it was time to replace it. So many I looked at were either plastic (the one I owned (leeching chemicals in water)) or the stainless actually rusted from most reviews. Then I came across this beauty and saw that it holds one gallon of hot water on demand (they should call it "Wonderful on Demand" with no bad reviews). I love it!! I use it very often for so many hot water uses not just tea. This product gets a triple A+ rating from me.

I bought this by mistake. I wanted the one with three temperature options, but this has worked very good so far. I love this because it is convenient and safe. The only thing I noticed is that ants somehow found a way to get into it. I'm not sure why ants were looking for hot water (???) but I found them floating in the water tank. strange.

This is the third one of these I've purchased. We rec'd ours as a gift and I was reluctant to take up counter space to use it. We now use it all day, every day. This was a gift for my nephew, who took a small breakfast area in his new home and turned it into a coffee station. This was the perfect addition. Nice quality, attractive design, blends well with stainless steel appliances.

The Secura 4-Quart mixer looks good and heats water as well. This particular model has two temperature setting 176 F and 208 F which should fit most needs. Great for tea drinkers, but can be used for instant coffee, hot cocoa, ramen noodles and other instant products that require hot water. It quickly heats water and keeps it warm. Purchased several to give as gifts to relatives and friends for Christmas.

We have used this water pot for over 6 months and love it. It holds enough water for a large pot of tea or french press coffee in the morning and still has water for several more hot drinks during the day. The inside cleans very easily, even with the super hard water we have, and the outside is stylish enough that I do not mind leaving it on my counter top. I would definitely purchase this pot again.
