As a homeowner, I frequently need a drill/driver. But I don't have enough use to justify the high cost of professional tools. These, however, are perfect. They are compact and pretty light, making it easy to work in tight spaces. Yet they have the power and batter life to do some pretty heavy duty work. The set I got in particular was a great price for two very functional tools that came with two batteries. I've used them a surprising amount and love the size and weight of them. Really happy with this purchase!

A couple of years ago I moved and our new home had several projects I wanted to complete. Some small, some large, but after a few weeks with my 18V drill from a competing company, I decided I wanted something smaller, and easier to use - but hopefully without sacrificing too much on power. I honestly don't think I've used the 18V since. - The drill/driver combo has worked well for all of my projects, and honestly seems just as powerful as my 18V. - The batteries charge quickly, and after 2 years, they still seem to hold their charge very well. - Both the drill and driver and light and well balanced, making them very easy to use. - I like the cloth case which makes carrying everything from room to room/project to project easy without the bulk of a hard case. - Changing bits is fast and secure. This has been a great purchase.

I was bummed when I missed out on the under $100 price on the Bosch drill on Amazon back in July, but elated to find that VMInnovations sells a refurbished combo kit of the drill and impact driver for the same price as a new drill. Impact drivers are super useful if you're installing lots of screws. I used mine to screw in wood screws for hanging shades. The impact driver worked way faster than using a drill to screw in screws into the wood frame of the windows. Before I bought the kit, VMInnovations answered my question over the phone and by email about the quality of the kit because it was refurbished. They were nice, responsive, and told me if they sell something refurbished, it means the manufacturer's standards. And they did. Bosch's refurb standard means the product and batteries have warranties as if they are new. They also work as if they are new. I'm satisfied with my purchase from VMInnocations for the refurbished drill and impact driver kit. I hope this review is helpful to anyone else considering the refurb kit.

The Wirecutter recommends this cordless drill as the best home cordless. I have to agree. It isn't too heavy for my aging wrist and the charge lasts about the same time as my old DeWalt 18v drill. Add in the impact drive for just a bit more and I'm happy. The impact drill has worked when I drilled concrete and it also will drive a six inch deck screw through a 4x4 with no problem.

If you are looking for a set that will do what needs to get done around the house and garage, look no further. Small enough to get into tough spaces, not too heavy. Battery life is great, especially with having an extra one included. My wife has really been using it frequently once she realized the size was perfect for her smaller hands. When on sale, the deal is even better!

wow! what a bargain! i have been using two dewalt drills but the batteries have been slowly dying on me.....i have had these drills for over 20 years so just bought some replaceable batteries and they were good. having said that i bought this kit because the drills are much smaller for the same power! i have already used them and really like how they feel. absolutely love the power indicator on the drills to tell you how much i see left in the tank. i also like the led light that brighten up the surface you are working on. nice job bosch!

Great so far. The tools are compact, powerful for their size due to the full-size motor. I found the balance off at first due to the light weight of the battery and handle but soon forgotten once I started to get used to the feel of the impact. I have used it for putting in trim head screws as well as 3 1/2” torx screws no problems with either. I like being able to see the charge of the battery every time I use these tools, with the charge indicator and the LED lights activated by the trigger. The drill works just as good as the driver with both having variable speed triggers for a variety of materials and situations. Both tools fit into my tool bag pocket without having to buy an extra drill specific holder, I place them in battery first with the head pointing up easy to grab and spin for use and no chance of falling out while working from heights, a problem I’ve had with my larger 20v set of drivers. The charge of the battery is an issue if you don’t have chargers nearby ready with multiple batteries, I purchased another tool with charger and battery now having 3 12v batteries and 2 chargers I haven’t had any issues of running out of power.

Awesome prize I had the exact same kit for the last three years until I left the impacts out in the rain for a week and the drill I dropped and lost the power button I did a lot of shopping around because I’ve used everything from porter cable which don’t last any Dan Milwaukee the wall you name it, it’s a little deceiving because they’re only 12 V and the size is so small but actually they have a good bit of power and they’re easy to get into tight areas especially the impact I’ve been lost without mine originally I bought my shit from Lowe’s for $180 and they were used in return that’s why I got them cheap. After being out of work for year I could not see myself spending the money that the stores wanted for them I came across them on Amazon and paid $100 for the set along with the charger and two batteries and a nice carrying case I cannot begin to explain what a savior it was

I specialize in concrete retaining walls, and I'm a hobbyist woodworker. I already own the 18v lithium ion drill and impact driver kit from Bosch, and after a few years use, would highly reccomend that as well. I purchased the 12v kit mainly because I was sick of bringing my 18v home from work, and didn't think all the size and power of the 18v was really necessary for my small woodworking projects, or use around the house. The kit I received came in the zippered canvas like pouch, not the L-box. I prefer this as it seems to take up less space. The drill and impactor are plenty compact and feel very solid, but not overly heavy. As a comparrison, the Milwaukee 12v felt set felt almost twice as heavy. Both the drill and driver have a battery life display gauge which is helpful. The led light at the tip of the drill and driver is helpful as well. A fully drained battery will charge in roughly 1/2hr. The impactor comes in at 930 in/lbs of torque which is impressive, and more than adequate for most tasks. As far as function goes, I was blown away! I was in the middle of forming an 80' x 8' concrete retaining wall out dry hardened doug fir 2x10, when the brushes on my 18v impactor went out. I reluctantly decided to bring the 12v impactor in to see if it was up to task. Wow!!! This thing drove 3" galvanized deck screws into hardened dry doug fir with ease, no pre-drilling. It was actually slightly faster and quieter, than its bigger 18v brother. The quantity driven at roughly 50 screws, was about 3/4 of the 18v which I'd expect given the different voltages. The drill performs equally as well. I mainly use it as a dedicated countersink, so i cant attest to its torque. The clutch settings perform as expected, and I have not experienced any chuck wobble. The form factor of both drill and driver is great. I have average sized hands and find both to be very comfortable in hand. I definitely prefer the balance in hand over the 18v. I find myself using my middle finger on the trigger which gives more control. I'm used to carrying the 18v version in my tool belt, and when I threw one of these in instead, I almost couldnt tell I was carrying it. The compact size of both really allows you to get into tight spaces you otherwise wouldn't with an 18v. Overall I was extremely impressed by this kit. Its similar to 18v power in a 12v form. I'd reccomend it to both tradesman and diy'er.

This combo is an amazing value. I use it all the time, batteries stay charged for a long time. I've built a 9ft cedar fence, gate, 30 ft of planters and knee walls, framed, hung pipes with straps and used it in all sorts of situation. When working with tools for extended period of time, esp. overhead, you want a light tool (anyone who swung 24" iron pipe wrenches for a few hours knows how nice it is to use aluminum ones). This tool is compact, will fit in tight spaces that square-bottomed battery drills will not, is well built (I dropped it a few times), and keeps chucking along just fine. Impact driver is great. Drill is good - wish it rotated a bit faster, but for light drilling in wood, plastic, plaster and drywall - it's fine. Only nice thing would have been a built in belt hook of some sort, like the one's Milwaukee tools come with. It would make life easier when working on a ladder or using one hand to hold something in place while having to put the drill down. This is however, not a big deal. You can get a drill holster for a few bucks (maybe $9 here on amazon), and you are in business. Just wear some pants with a belt. Also, do get one of those extension chucks - it will really let you get into tight corners.
