I love this machine! I've been sewing since I was a kid in 4-H, and this is the best machine I've ever had. (All my others were Singers) I was amazed at the price so I read the reviews, and it was rated very highly by quite a few people. It deserves all that praise! I love the drop-in bobbin feature. I had received an email from Michael's that I could order it online for a reasonable price and that's what got me interested. When I checked Amazon.com I saw that I could get it even less expensive so I was hooked! It's very light weight and sleek but very powerful. I was able to take in some jeans using it; it has no fear of denim! I also love that when I use a decorative stitch, the screen will tell me what needle to use; how cool is that! Anyone considering this machine should not give it a second thought - just buy it!

I replaced my POS Singer Traditional (which gave me trouble from almost the start) with this Brother machine and I'm in absolute AWE of it! What a difference! Brother outdoes the Singer in EVERY way -- from the way it sews and the accessories that are included right down to the instruction manual. I thought this machine was going to be smaller and flimsier... it's not! I used to dread having to sew ANYTHING, even the simplest projects on the Singer.. now I can't wait! The only two negative things I can think of is the "drawer" is open at the back so you need to keep everything in the pouch (provided). Also, I can't seem to change the machines starting stitch (from straight-left (00) to straight-center (01)) when first powered on, but it's really not that big of a deal. I might call them to help figure it out, but it really doesn't bother me.

I bought this machine on Amazon in 2013. This is my first sewing machine, and I hadn't sewn since making pj pants in high school over a decade before buying it. I've since made slipcovers for two parsons chairs and a club chair, a queen size duvet cover, several items of clothing, curtains, blankets, a cover for my machine, and several other things I can't remember right now. This machine is perfect for a beginner or someone who just loves to sew. I don't know how it would hold up for a professional or someone who spends more than fifteen hours a week sewing since I typically max out at 10-12hrs/wk and go several days to a couple of weeks between projects. It is small, lightweight, and still kicking butt and taking names!! I have no complaints whatsoever, and I am knocking on some wood and praying nothing happens now that I said that :) I LOVE it, and only wish I had a bigger work area to use it in!!

Just started using my new sewing machine. And everything is fine yet. I have little sewing experience, that's why I liked that it's very easy to change stitching styles. Only be sure at first you took a save tape from the needle part of the machine. I found instructions a bit difficult. So I found a video on YouTube where a girl explained how to thread the machine. And started to sew right away!

I didn't realize how bad my old sewing machine was until this machine arrived. Wow! If you're on the fence, just buy this. It's very easy to use and great for a beginner like me. It has great functions (keep the manual close until you figure it all out). I mainly sew bags and accessories and this puppy powered through several layers of heavy interfaced fabric like it was nothing...my old machine would have choked. Very impressed and pleased with this. I stayed up all night sewing the night it arrived because I was so excited! Great features, like the needle threader and the bobbin threader are really easy to use.

I bought this so I can repair clothing and sew patches onto different garmets. It's very easy to set up and use. The instructions are very well written. The technical writer did a good job. The illustrations are clear too. The machine comes with a bunch of different presser feet and needles. It ha 50 different stictch types, and the machine tells you which foot to use. Each foot has a letter on it and the machine tells you which to pick by an image and the letter. The self-threading feature is pretty cool. It works every single time as long as you have followed the instructions. The machine has a single "reverse" button, but does not have the other two buttons that the instructions state are available on other models. All in all, this is a pretty sweet machine.

My grandma got this for me as my Christmas present as my old machine was no longer working properly and would have cost a fortune to fix. I do highly suggest reading the manual before starting your adventure if you haven't had a machine with this many bells and whistles before! I mad a purse with a thick lining in it and was hesitant as to whether it would be able to get through all the layers. It went right through with no hesitations or problems and I was amazed! The preprogrammed stitches are beautiful and the machine tells you which pressor foot to use so no need to have your manual nearby. Switching pressor feet is as easy as 1-2-3! The built in thread cutters and bobbin threader is super handy and I can't praise the handy needle threader enough! If you are looking for a mid-level machine that has some of the bells and whistles without the giant price tag…look no further, for you have found it!

I have purchased five of these machines to use with 4th thru 8th grade beginning sewing students. This machine has shown to be sturdy and all around easy to use with kids. I have sewn many different fabrics and used many different stitches with great success. It is very easy to wind a bobbin and thread. Over the last two years, no complaints at all.

I bought this as a birthday present for my wife... she loves it! Only problem is, I can't pull her away from it. It's been three weeks now, the kitchen is a disaster, the kids are starving... the bathroom has been out of toilet paper for days... but we all have beautiful new scarves!

I replaced my ancient (no name brand) sewing machine in order to embark on a new adventure in sewing. I got this machine as a Christmas present and I've sat at it ever since. If you use Brother bobbins, and refer to the manual when you don't understand something, you should be just fine! I thought my bobbin winder was broken, and after a conversation with someone at Brother Customer Service, she asked me to look and see if the bobbin was Brother...NOPE...it said Singer! That was the problem...all good!
