I have 2 of these in medium for my Cavalier King Charles who's really bothered by heat, even in Winter. . I leave one in the fridge while he's using the other one. They're very sturdy especially when you consider how lightweight and slim they are. This is the second set I've purchased in 3 years because it seems the gel loses its ability to maintain a cool temperature. I've used several other brands that are more expensive and start to leak after 6 months or so. For what these pads do, the price is terrific and I think 18 months of constant use is a more than reasonable life span. Such a small price to pay to make my pup so happy!

Great product and works as advirtised.

I was skeptical at first, but this product truly works. If your dog is bright enough to figure it out, they'll enjoy the cooling effects of sitting on the pad. My dog couldn't figure it out at first, so we placed a thin sheet over the pad in the location where she usually sits. After a week of enjoying her regular napping spot, she now sits directly on the pad without the sheet covering. Definitely recommend this product to help your furry friend survive the hot Arizona summer.

I am sold. These work great indoors and in the shade. FYI, They do not work directly in the sunlight as they absorb heat and become extremely hot.

Bought this for my pitbul to cool down since its been pretty hot and she seems to love it. She lays on it a lot and likes to put her blanket there too. She usually likes to destroy stuff but has not tried to destroy this matt yet and we've had it for 2 weeks. I would say it's a great buy.

Kitty loves this!

I was pretty worried at first because of the other reviews about this pad getting torn easily. But I've only had it for a few hours and my kitty LOVES it. I plopped him on after I took it out while he was nosing in curiously. He just laid down on it and didn't move for a while. I bought this because it's been a brutal first summer for him, especially since he was born in late autumn. He huddles near the front door of our apartment to get some of the draft under the door when the AC isn't on. I do cut my kitty's nails regularly so I'm hoping it holds up against his nails. He went a little nuts during play time and skidded around on it, and the pad seemed to do fine without any tearing. Also, when I apply pressure to it, it definitely is cooler than the floor and is a soft gelatinous material. If my 11 year old cat likes it too, I'll most likely buy another one for her as well. Attached in the picture is him on it, with a mouse toy for scale. I bought the Medium size one as my younger kitty is about 7lbs and has a small body frame. My older cat is almost 9lbs and of medium build, and I think the Medium size mat will fit them both just fine.

Excellent Experience All Around

The Chillz pad arrived 4 days earlier than expected, in excellent shape - both contents and packaging. Wasn't sure how our little Sheltie with the super thick coat would react to the pad. We showed it to her, put it in one of her "bed places", she sniffed it all over, then settled down on it as if it had always been there. She usually moves around to 3 or 4 different places in our bedroom at night, but now is spending most of the night on her Chillz pad, presumably because it is more comfortable than the carpeting. Highly recommend. Also recommend working for a few minutes with your dog to introduce it as a place to rest, so they don't think it's a toy. We let her sniff the pad, then patted it and told her "Night-Night" and stroked the bed a few times. She got on it and we praised her and the bed and then went to bed ourselves. All went well. I'm not sure if a dog any larger could comfortably fit on it

I ordered the XL because I read it ran kind of small. And it does. In this pic, my 60 lb pitbull is sleeping in it, but I folded it over to make it even softer. He loves it. When it's all unfolded, he can fit his whole body on it. I'm not sure if a dog any larger could comfortably fit on it.

Living in Arizona with our temps hitting 120 it's near impossible to keep the apartment cool enough. I needed something to help

I have a 20lb huge and fluffy cat. Living in Arizona with our temps hitting 120 it's near impossible to keep the apartment cool enough. I needed something to help keep my cat cool. One cat won't get near it but she's the tinier one. The huge cat loves it. I put it in his favorite spot in the shade inside and he doesn't get off of it. If I move it around he moves to where I put it. It gets cool when pressure is applied. No issues with nails yet but I'll update if needed. He takes up the entire thing when he stretches out. I will be buying another. Note- my a/c went out for a bit last night and it cooled me off a bit too.

Great for PEOPLE hot flashes or people who sleep "hot"

I actually use this myself under my fitted sheet. Many people get hot when they sleep especially with the new foam mattresses. They don't tell you when you buy those mattresses that they will trap heat. I go this for my dog a long haired Shih Tzu. But when I looked at those expensive "cooling" mattress topppers and what they were made of it was the same as this mat. So I tried it and now I use it more than the dog!

Glad I ignored other reviews

When I came across this gel mat I thought it was the right size for my dog but I was reluctant to order it because of the low rating. I read the 3 reviews, first lady was upset it didn't come with instructions!?!! Second lady complained her puppy chewed it. (puppies tend to chew things). Third lady said her dogs had no use for the mat, OK all dogs are different.My older Maltipoo loves it. He sniffed it, then pawed it a little to get it the way he wanted it, then he laid down on it and got cool. I was kind of amazed he was able to do this since the mat did not come with instructions.
