as name implies - a compact tester to discover cable ends. works well. a tone generator / receiver - the size of a pen. these were cables that were installed when house was built but not labeled so I needed the tool to find the ending locations.

My husband needed a toner to help get our cable connected to a specific tv in the house. This was exactly what he needed. Before we purchased the Jonard toner, he tried multiple times to get the cable connected to a specific tv, with no success. Once the toner arrived, we had cable to our tv within minutes. This toner was exactly what he needed, and it will be useful in the future with our cable connections.

After moving to a newer home there were 9 coax cables in the attic and none were labeled. I wasn't going to utilize all the cables so there's no need to hook them up and have them drain bandwidth. Bought this little tool to help tone them out and was surprised at how well it worked. I had all cables tracked and labeled within half hour with many trips up and down multiple flights of stairs. More than worth the money I paid.

Easily test continuity and which connections are live. As I recently moved into a new home with wiring in a closet but with no labels in the wiring closet, I was able to easily determine connect the desired outlets in the wiring closet. This saved me hours of time and frustration. Can't imagine doing this by trial and error.

Great item, Not sure who invented this item but they are a genius. Every home should have one of these. As I went into the dreaded attic I found no fewer than fifteen coax cables. It looked like a bowl of spaghetti up there, ugh. Anyway, I connected one end to the jack that I needed to find the other end to, and started the process of finding its match in the attic. First cable, nope, second cable nope, third cable nope, forth cable BINGO. What could have been an aweful job turned into a breeze. Thank you jonard. Now if you could make a tool to do my income taxes that easily I would be eternally greatful.

Not really much to say about this other than it works perfectly satisfactorily. I work in the cable business and have a lot of experience with these types of toners. This has been my favorite one yet mostly because it switches off when the speaker is reinserted into the base of the toner. This prevents the battery from draining unintentionally if the stinger & outer casing were to be shorted against a piece of metal when stored away. It also looks pretty & shiny. That's silly & frivolous, I know, but that does count for something.

I work in the Telecom field and would be lost without this tool.. This allows you to identify coax cables in a house or building. They make more expensive models, but they can be complicated and many times confusing.. This $14.00 tool is the best investment I ever made.. I own about 3 of them, incase I misplace my main one. Can't go wrong for the money..Even weekend warriors will find this useful, if you do any of your own coax wiring and tv hook ups.

I used this tester and it functioned exactly as it should. I was able to trace and identify my five CATV cables with no trouble in minutes! I worked as a field technician for 29 years and have used few tools so elegantly designed and efficient. I am very pleased with this tool. It is compact and easy to use. It only required a single size AAA cell (included) which powered it fine. Great tool for a very reasonable price!

The direct TV guy removed all the labels from the coax in the attic when he pulled his equipment. With a little up and down the ladder they are all re-labeled. Nice feature in that the detector serves as a power off feature when put back in its proper storage place. (Some designer has worked in the field at one time I suspect.)

I've had this thing for awhile but never used it. Today this thing saved me a lot of time and headache. I had just finished running a coax line from the attic to the living room. I connected it to a F-Type keystone coupler and short home made coax cable. When I connected everything and turned on the FiOS box nothing but a blank screen. I couldn't figure out if it was from the new drop or the little short cable connected to the box. I remember i had this in my bag so I decided to test the short run first. Connected the speaker to one end and the tester to the other and the LED lit up red with no audible tone so the cable was shorted. I redid the connectors one end at a time and tested, then I got the audible tone. Connected the cable back to the FiOS box and tv worked perfectly. I'm so glad I bought this because this little thing saved me so much trouble trying to figure out where the problem might be and having to climb back in the attic. I highly recommend this if you plan on installing coax in your home
