I’ve used it for about 10 minutes and it’s perfect! I only had to put the handle in ...

Scrooge might have been a happier man, if he had this coin sorter.
This makes counting (and rolling) all the loose change that accumulates in pockets, ashtrays and kitchen counters fun. The unit is made of plastic and does require a gentle touch to operate it, but it does work well. It will jam if it gets fed the occasional subway token, oversize coin, or coins that are stuck together from spilled soda, or the odd button battery (they do look like quarters.) Most jams can be cleared by gently reversing the crank direction a tiny bit, though I did have to turn the unit upside-down and shake it for one clog, and actually had to take it apart (three screws to remove the cover and two to loosen the sorting disk) when the stuck-together pennies went through. You do need to make sure that the rolls are actually filled full, otherwise, you will wind up with a short count.

Works flawlessly.
I was careful to read most of the reviews. I read the review from the gentleman that said he had to cut off the top funnel. I also read the review that was listed near the top of reviews from the gentleman that said it worked great if you operated it with care. Thank you for that review, that swayed me towards purchasing. I read the reviews from buyers that said that using paper rollers wan't successful. I ordered anyway. I found that operating it slowly and patiently is the correct method. I filled the hopper with coins and slowly cranked the handle. All coins sorted correctly. For my impressions here I sorted about 4 funnels of coins. I filled the collector tubes with paper rollers and all coins entered the paper rollers just fine. I even used paper rollers that were slightly crumpled at the top. No issues experienced. I did have two objects in the hopper that made it into the device. One was a penny that looked like it had been deformed by having a railroad car roll over it on the rails. The other was a marker used by golfers to mark their ball spot. Neither of those made it through the sorting apparatus. The just rattled around inside the hopper. They were easily retrieved. You have to shake the machine until they show up at the bottom of the funnel. Then just reach in and retrieve. I experienced no concerns as were outlined by others here. Buy with confidence.

Low expectation, high result
Didn't have high hopes, expecting more of a toy. However, for the price, it was worth a try as my bank got rid of their counters. Having only about $120 to count, I opted to use wrappers after the standard tubes were full. Verified for accuracy which is right providing you fill them to the point that even one more coin can't be contained. The wrappers fit well over the coins in the tubes so that process went far faster than I anticipated. For me, success came at no more than 50 or so coins in the hopper and turning slowly (a turn every couple of seconds). Only needed to back the handle a couple of times and it worked perfectly. Going slowly is still massively faster than manual sorting/counting. No regret.

Great purchase - works great if you aren't aggressive with it
As you have likely read in other reviews, it's not perfect. That being said, if you take your time with the crank and don't load too much money into it at one time it works great. When it starts to jam, simply reverse the crank half a rotation and then move it ahead again. Most times that does the trick. If you continue to have an issue then tap the side a few times (like a light shake) and that should fix the problem. If you are still having issues, you may have something in there other than a coin. I bought the preformed coin rolls and they slide right down over the stack of coins while in the tube no problem at all. So glad I made this investment as opposed to getting charged anywhere from 10 to 15% for coin sorting machines

Having a blast!
My husband is having a blast with this coin counter. He's had no problem with it getting stuck or locking up. Just turn the handle slowly and don't be in a rush. We found coin wrappers at Dollar Tree for $1 that work just fine with this.

Walter gets the job done
We named him Walter. Walter rolls about $80 per week of coins for us. Walter has been working for us for almost two years now. Walter has had to be disassembled a handful of times because he got angry that someone put a Susan B Anthony dollar in him. He went on strike until the jammed dollar was removed. And if you feed Walter too fast he can choke on quarters and jam, but once you know Walter does this you won't have a problem. Walter is not friendly when you put odd sized foreign coins in him. Walter is a good guy and I would buy another Walter. If you treat Walter with respect he will work hard for you, but if you abuse him, he can be temperamental. We like how Walter is analog and requires no batteries. Walter counts the coins pretty reliably too. Occasionally Walter will put a dime in the penny roll, but not often. I would recommend Walter to anyone who needs coins rolled.

Better than a CoinStar Fee.
After finding out that Chase doesn't have coin counting machines anymore, they just have the sleeves. Which they'll gladly give you any amount you'll need. Went home and started counting and rolling by hand, well after an hour+ and just putting a 2 inch dent in a 4 pound coffee can. Started looking into my options. CoinStar takes a 12% commission and this one was less than 30 bucks. We ended up spending about 4 hours total and with $600 in change rolled up. Granted, I might only use this machine every year or so but I saved 40 bucks over the CoinStar fee already. Ok now for the real review; A few reviewers stated that the coins would jam up in the hopper, They have redone the hopper so he coins slide into the sorter better. But it will jam-up if you fill the hopper full. I seemed to me it's works better if you just add a handful at a time the weight of the coins seemed to be a problem when the hopper was full. Turning the handle slowly also prevented jams. I also checked the count right away on all coins they were right on, when it fills up the next coin slides off the top into the tray. Stop turning put the coins into a roll, add another hand full keep turning slowly. The only down side to using a counter is that you don't actually see the coins to check the dates.

Awesome counter - very happy with purchase
This counter is awesome! I did like the one reviewer who mentioned that he weighed his coin rolls to verify the count; that worked beautifully. I had no issues with this machine at all - it sorted through almost $200 in changes without a single problem. I was considering only giving 4 stars because I couldn't get the last 10 or so coins to sort, no matter how much I juggled and thumped it. I did not have the see-through top, so I couldn't see what the problem might be, but once I turned it over and shook out the remaining coins I realized that the problem was that I had somehow gotten one of those really stupid "Presidents" dollar coins. Almost exactly the same size as a quarter, but just different enough that it got stuck and wouldn't allow the rest of the coins to sort. Ridiculous things. Once I had set that coin aside, I reloaded the remaining coins and they sorted perfectly. I am so glad I purchased this coin counter, it's so much better than counting by hand or paying to have coins sorted at a store (and those almost always jam anyhow).

This totally works. And it's strangely satisfying!!!
