Awesome mat for the money..... just a word of advise, you shouldn't have to press so hard cutting your fabrics that you slice completely through the mat...Geez..... just get a new blade! and there's really no such thing as a self healing mat so please don't think it magically repairs itself...lol all in all I am very pleased with the performance.... it's just soft enough not to dull blades after a couple of passes and I like the easy to see gridlines .......and for those of you who are replacing an older over price cutting mat.... let me just say that the Sullivan mat doesn't smell to high hell as if it was made from a toxic waste facility like most of the other brands do......5 stars Sullivan you make a great product...Thanks!

This is a great mat. The only problem is that it is just a little bit larger than the home hobby table it is made for. It came rolled up but after leaving it on the table overnight with some weights on the corners, it was fine. Good cutting surface and so far is truly self sealing. It has really been a big help with the cutting I do.

Great cutting mat for my 36"x80" DIY cutting table. Would love to have a mat for the entire table, but not willing to spend hundreds of dollars on one when this one fits my needs (as opposed to my wants). I also like the translucent white color as it looks much better in my home office than the green or grey ones. On that note, this mat is translucent, so if placed on a dark surface it will not appear as white (see attached photos for comparison between painted and unpainted table top).

I looked at others posting their photos and thought it would be smaller than it was (without measuring) but was pleasantly surprised at how big it was. This is exactly what I wanted and I'm just so glad I didn't spend hundreds when this works perfectly well for what I need.

I was worried about ordering this mat—some of the reviews mentioned they had difficulty cutting on it, but the price was so good I took the chance—and I’m glad I did! My fabrics cut beautifully (as long as the blades are sharp, of course); I only need to apply a light firm pressure; the fabric cuts cleanly and I’ve seen no scoring so far. The side with the numbers and grid is less “pebbled” than the back side, more of a matte finish, but I like that better for a clean cut. And it’s so great to be able to spread things out, and not have to reposition my old 2x3 mat over and over... This is a much thicker (about 2 mm or 3/32”) and nicer mat than my old Fiskars one, which was less resilient, harder to cut on, and prone to scarring. I’m sure this fits the matching craft table nicely, but my cutting table is an old flat door—which is actually about 3 inches narrower than the mat...but I have a cheap-and-easy fix for that: I got 4 of those 1/8 inch thick white foam core art boards at the dollar store, taped them together on the bottom and slid them under the mat, cutting off the excess. I slid the narrow excess strips of the art boards under the other boards at the edge of the table, to provide a little more support...and that’s enough so that I can still cut on the mat to the edge, as well as providing a nice bright white underlayer for the cutting mat. It also provides a nice resilience to the mat while I’m cutting. The first photo shows me lifting up the mat to show the art foam boards underneath. It didn’t take long to flatten out after unrolling; I just unfurled it and put a few chairs on top of it to hold it flat, and left it overnight (which was probably overkill). Neither I nor my daughter—who has a famously sensitive nose—detected any bothersome odors. If you need to keep it rolled up, try the clever yoga-strap hack used by another Amazon reviewer (check out the photos and you’ll find it). If you’re on the fence about buying this, I suggest you give it a whirl—you’re not going to find a good mat this size for less than 55 bucks...I know, I tried! ;-)

I have had the mat for several months now great mat, good price, fits my table perfectly, doesn't dull my rotary cutter.

Same mat as sold in the fabric store, but at a lower price. This size will completely cover my dining table, which is also my cutting table. I am a professional seamstress and do not have a space for a dedicated cutting table. I use my dining table, and had a smaller mat, and so I sometimes scratched the surface of my table and worried that at some point the damage would be more than a small pin mark. This solves the problem! I also got risers to put under the feet to bring it up to the ergonomic height needed for a cutting table, and now I’m good to go! Happy camper!

I'm replacing the Sullivan mat I've had for 5 years and used almost daily. I didn't NEED a new one; just thought I deserved it.

Mat is great. Haven't tried my rotary cutter on it yet, but cut with scissors and the grid lines are great. I did not buy mine to use on a cutting table, rather I bought it to use on the floor or on my dining room table. Hence, I need a way to roll it up again for storage, and it doesn't come with anything, which is weird. I found a perfect solution with this "yoga mat strap sling" though: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00SGADF3A?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00 It does the job! Efficient and inexpensive.

A must for hobby enthusiasts who do a lot of foamboard cutting. It saves my work tables from knife cuts, and the measurement markings come in very handy when constructing projects. Large enough to cover my entire work area, I should have gotten this a long time ago! Well worth the money.
