I have played the trumpet in my younger days in a military band as well as state youth orchestra many years ago. Am now am getting back to the instrument so consider myself a student again and decided to get an entry level student instrument. I found the Jean Paul USA TR-330 to be well reviewed and fairly inexpensive. More importantly it could be shipped to New Zealand where I reside.The trumpet was delivered in a well packaged box. Found the instrument to be solid and the playing easy. The valves worked smoothly and slides a little sticky but with some lubricant was fine. I liked the bright and clear tone. Had to get used to the 7C mouthpiece which was a little shallow for me. Overall very good value for the price paid and very pleased with my purchase. I would recommend anyone wanting a reasonably priced and quality instrument especially for a student as this instrument is easy to play and responsive.

I bought this trumpet for my Son who started playing trumpet in his Middle School Band. This is a very solid trumpet and has a truly clean sound like that of more expensive trumpets. My Son is now in High School and part of the Marching Band. He loves this trumpet and while recently cleaning it, he misplaced the valve guide. I went to many different music stores and they did not have the part to fix it. One place kept it for a week and never really tried to get the part. I know this because I went online to jeanpaulusa.com and contacted support by email and they responded right away asking for my address to send me the part I needed. I want to post this because their may be others who don't know that support is available. The customer service has been outstanding and my Son is very happy.

Pleasantly surprised!

I purchased this for my son as a beginner trumpet in lieu of renting, which would have cost almost as much in the long run. I am an experienced trumpet player myself and still have my 25-year old silver Japanese-made Yamaha trumpet. I compared the two, and both have similar sound quality. I was very surprised with the overall quality of this horn, especially considering the price. We have had no issues so far with valves or slides - all work smoothly. The finish is very good as well. The only thing I would change is the type of case included. I prefer the larger hard shell cases that you can store sheet music and accessories in - and would have paid a little extra if that was an option.

Great product and even better customer service!

This is an excellent trumpet for a new student! Unfortunately, a valve got stuck and despite our best efforts, (I'm very experienced with trumpets after playing for many years), we could not get it to work correctly. I contacted the company directly one evening by EMail and was called from a customer service representative's personal cell phone less than 10 minutes later! They profusely apologized for the defect and expressed their desire to always provide excellent customer service. A new trumpet was shipped to me immediately. They included a label to ship back the defective trumpet no cost so they could "ensure this defect would not effect anyone else". We received our new trumpet days later and in perfect condition. The next day the same customer service rep called to ensure we received it and we're happy. This was the best customer service experience I've ever had!! The trumpet is an excellent quality for the price on top of it all!

Very helpful and extremely satisfied!

we ordered this trumpet for my son in oct. In feb. my son hit the spit valve on his music stand and the screw and spring was lost. I called the company the priority shipped him a brand new piece including the tube that holds the spit valve. He told me if i couldnt fix it he would ship it to repair center at no cost to me and get us taking care of right away. The man was very understanding and and was very polite. My sons trumpet is fixed now and back to new.

Great sound, solid durability, and unbeatable customer service

We purchased this trumpet for my 5th-grade son two years ago. Two years later, it has been a great purchase. The sound quality is great, it still looks spotless, and his band teacher has commented on how surprised he is regarding its quality and durability. Like other reviewers, we had an issue with a broken valve within the first 6 months, and the customer service was awesome. We had a brand new replacement trumpet - not just the valve - sent to us within a week. It has performed flawlessly since. We highly recommend this trumpet to any beginner or student musician. AMAZING customer service!

I have to update my review and say that I am absolutely FLOORED at how great Josh is. I have never experienced customer service like this EVER before. I am so completely impressed. I emailed him after finding his email on a thread here and within hours he had emailed me back, apologized immensely and had a NEW trumpet, that he personally tested, in the mail. It arrived in 2 days time and they even sent a return label for me to send the old one back. I am thrilled to say that the new trumpet it working GREAT so far and we are excited to have it in our family for years to come! Thank you again Josh for your time and efforts. They have not gone unrecognized! Original review: 2Star: Very sad to say that after less than a month, our son's trumpet 1st and 2nd valves are sticking. We have cleaned and oiled them and even his band director looked at it. He was so very excited to receive this as his 13th birthday gift and now he is back using the school rental. So sad for our boy because this was a huge monetary sacrifice for our family. He sits first chair in his band, in ALL State Honors band and will be looking at a nationally ranked high school band next year but maybe not with his own trumpet. I am hoping to contact the company and see if we can't get it worked out because basically it is useless at this point after less than a month's use.

Unbeatable value!

Jean Paul USA TR-330 Standard Student Trumpet This is an extremely well put together trumpet for the money. I am a 50 year veteran trumpeter and wanted to find something for my grandson to have for beginners band in school. I've researched nearly everything available out there with some mighty grim results...until I came across the Jean Paul TR-330 on amazon. The trumpet's finish is flawless, the valves are smooth and fairly quiet, all the slides work, and the tone is actually quite bright and resonant. I expected the mouthpiece to be a misfit because I am quite picky when it comes to fitting the proper mouthpiece with a student's lip. I was pleasantly surprised to find this a perfect fit for a young student with a thin lip. Sure, there are better beginner horns out there, but at triple+ the price. It's important to start a beginner with a horn that is trouble free and easy to play and maintain so that they do not get discouraged. This TR-330 fits the bill perfectly. GREAT starter horn with a fine sound and smooth valves. Great work, Jean Paul! I would recommend this trumpet for ALL beginner, and those who want to play a nice resonant horn right through school.
