Simple, Easy Masher
Used the masher separately for mashing up bananas for recipes, works much better than a fork! Pros: Easy to use Wide grip on masher to hang onto, not flimsy Nice handhold on side of bowl to anchor into place Cons: A little small if making lots of baby food at a time Can be more challenging to clean out stringy vegetables (like squash) from between the grooves of the bowl - never had an issue with it after a bit of a soak and taking a bottle brush to it, but by virtue of having a textured bottom it is more difficult to clean. Worth it, however.

We LOVE this bowl!
We used this early on for simple puree/mash type foods, banana, avocado, sweet potato, etc. What I didn't expect was to still be using it for this long. We're just now hitting the 10 month mark and still using it. We're at that awkward stage where he's past the purées but not really good at getting the finger foods in his mouth and gags on the larger chunks a lot. It's so easy to mash up what we are eating for dinner for him into small rice-ish size pieces with this bowl. And it's fast! This homemade chicken noodle soup took maybe 20 seconds. Now he mostly eats everything we eat. There's nothing I won't try to mash in this bowl! What a money and time saver!

Extremely Useful, One of the Best Purchases for a New Mother
My mother-in-law has repeatedly said to me this was the best gift I ever purchased for her(and I've purchased quite a few things). She recently had a child(20 years apart from her youngest) and making her own puree's and mashing any of the grown-ups dinners has been made so easy due to this piece. I always see this sitting on the counter about to be used or just having been washed and drying on her Boon drying rack. She loves this thing, it makes her life easier(rather than having to clean all the parts of her nutribullet every meal). She mashes and feeds him right from the bowl so theres only 3 things to wash. The baby's spoon and the Nuk set. Just a tip, rinse off right after you use so baby food does not harden onto the textured bottom of the bowl. It will make your life easier. Also, you can wrap it up with some foil and stick it in the fridge if you have extra leftover(we always do) and it stays perfectly fresh. Definitely one of those things I tell new mothers that they need to get, and a perfect baby shower gift.

Easy to use, dishwasher safe
SO easy to use and takes seconds to mash up real foods for our baby. Love that it can go in the dishwasher too! Makes preparing her foods super easy. Works great for softer foods. NOTE: If the foods you're mashing have a "skin" on them at all, you'll want to use a blender... this masher will not properly "mash" all the skins to a smoother state. They mash well, but if your babe doesn't have teeth get, the skins can be harder for them to eat. I made fresh peas and green beans and had a harder time mashing than, say, sweet potatoes or bananas.

Works great on cat food!
This invention is a genius! Works great for mashing my cat food. He’s a senior cat & would only slurp up the juice & leave the chicken pieces behind. Not anymore. This gadget work like a charm mashing all the stringy chicken... it's fast & easy. He eats everything now. Horray! I first tried to mash with fork but didn't do a good job. Then I was crazy enough to use the hand held grinder every feeding time which is morn/night twice daily & was getting too tedious. Cleaning it wasn't fun either. This Mash and Serve Bowl is the greatest thing! I'm happy and so is my senior Cat Leo, who now slurp up all he's food without leaving the good stuff behind! Just wished I found this sooner!

It goes everywhere with us now - highly recommend!
This was the perfect item to mash up food to give to our 11 month old. We have tried a few other products that didn't come close to this in terms of ease of use, effectiveness, and ease of cleaning. Some things I like about this product: - The pieces are dishwasher safe which makes clean up easy. - The bowl has a rubber bottom which makes it slip resistant. - There are grooves in the bowl the provide a nice amount friction for mashing up foods. - It is sturdy and durable (now is on to the third different child using this). - It's a one "pot" meal - mash it up and serve right from it. We have used this for about a month with all kinds of foods: pasta, meats, beans, fruits, veggies, etc. For the cost, I cannot recommend picking up this product enough - you will not be disappointed. It more than easily pays for itself in money saved from buying less jars of baby food! UPDATE: - over 6 months later and we have pretty much stopped using this product as our son is old enough (and has enough teeth) to not need most foods mashed up. Although, he does enjoy potatoes and other veggies mashed up still...so it still gets some occasional use. This has held up through the entire time we used it and it will be ready to go for our next child! I stand by my original review of this product - it was a HUGE help for feeding our son all sorts of table food for many months. Update #2 - 12/16/14 - baby #2 has officially started solid foods a few weeks ago and we took this right out of the attic. Since our first, we had let someone else borrow this and it still is in perfect condition! Bananas and sweet potatoes are being mashed to perfection already. We look forward to being able use this the entire time with this baby.

Real food for your baby, from the get-go
This is perfect. Simple design. IT WORKS. I had a food grinder contraption when my kids were little because they'd smell what we were eating and then, when we tried to give them pre-processed 'baby food', they'd lose it because that stuff was obviously crap compared to what we were having. This device is so much better than the food grinder I used, which had a bunch of fussy parts and questionable cleanliness at the end of the day. This is just so simple to clean: warm, soapy water and a little scrub. No nooks or crannies that you can't get at. Simple to use, too. put bits of food in and mash them. Easy, peesy. Highly recommend.

no complaint at all!
I used to cut the food into small cubes and put them in the blender to make the vegetable for my baby, but that is not a good way because you have to make a larger amount than the baby's needs! not convenient at all. I have to say it is a great decision to buy this for making quick and easy baby food, this great tool helps a lot. I meshed potatoes, carrots, and cabbages in this bowl, that can do the job well and with really clean a methods. the bowl is easy to clean as well. I have used this for about a month, it is well-made and can make great baby food.

Perfect for baby food at all stages
I bought this initially for making baby food while traveling/on-the-go but as soon as it arrived, we used it right away. I make our baby food at home using the steam/hand blend/freeze method but this allows us to make baby food right there on the spot and it's nice and fresh. Sure one can argue (poorly at that) that a fork and bowl could yield the same results, but dump your fresh food right in, give the small pulverzier a push and about 2 spins later, you have fresh baby food. My little one is six months and she loves eating: bananas, avocado, peaches, nectarines, and melons. For the banana and avocado, mix it with a little breastmilk or formula to get it to the right runny consistency. The thing I like about this bowl for nectarines and peaches, those fruits have a tendency to be stringy and I'm afraid it will choke my little one. This device cuts up the string without making the mush too runny and leaving it a thick consistency (something a fork and bowl will take you quite a while to do). I often defrost a frozen cube of blended fruit right in the bowl and add half a fresh banana and mush them all together. I like that you can feed your baby right out of the bowl and clean up is a breeze. So glad I bought this thing and I can't see us living without it. Update (11/15/13): My little one is now ten months old. This bowl masher has taken up permanent residency in our diaper bag. She now eats the same table food we eat. We just cut up smaller chunks of veggies and take more veggies/meat/carb in the bowl and mash that up then mix up the cut up foot with the mashed food to create a chunky stew-like consistency. She only has two bottom teeth and two top teeth poking out so she can't quite chew some of the harder cuts of meat, so this thing comes in handy when the meats aren't toddler friendly. It has saved us in packing baby food and BUYING baby food alone. We love this thing!

Love this mash and serve bowl from NUK
Love this mash and serve bowl from NUK. I have a year old son who has beginning to use table food but there are some foods that he has a hard time chewing. I use this bowl to help him enjoy the foods that he would have just spit out if given as big chuncks, such as broccoli. I like that you can have control of how much you want to mash the food so that it is not super mush like when you use a food processor. I am also super impressed with a range of food you can quickly mash with it: I use it to smash dates and walnuts to add to my son's oatmeal; it also works to mash meat to add to his rice. Very convenient and super easy to clean.
