I am not a chainsaw wielding mountain man. I am techy guy that probably shouldn't even own a chainsaw. However my wife likes pinterest and this last week there was projects that involved a chainsaw....hence ...now I own a chainsaw. I can only review this as a person who has never used a chainsaw before. This comes with ONE single bottle (some chainsaws are retarded and give you TWO bottles , a part A and part B to mix). I like the one single bottle of premixed fluid. I bought a chainsaw from homedepot a few months ago and accidentally poured part A in the oil and part B in the gas. That's the type of sh*t that happens when a manufacturer puts two bottles in a box. The chainsaw never worked from the get-go and I had to return it. The home depot manager says he's had more of those chainsaws come back than any other brand. This chainsaw requires no gas. Just a long extension cord. I needed to cut slabs off a massive trunk that is about 4ft in diameter, its a massive trunk. This thing sawed right through it like butter. Since I had the chainsaw out and was feeling like a viking, I decided that by March it was time to take the 22ft Christmas tree down and cut her into pieces. This thing made it a simple breeze. Its pretty quiet as well. I also had a ton of fun if that counts for anything.

I had a semi-dead Cottonwood tree that was over 70ft tall and 21 inches in diameter. If it fell, it would take-out power, cable & phones lines. I have an old 16" Homelite XL that I've had for years that needed a chain & bar, and I realized that I only use it every year or 2, it spent all of it's time in the shed. I was tired of mixing gas & oil plus having the leftover go sour. I ran across this WORX saw on Amazon and decided to research it. I didn't find many helpful reviews as most bought this to saw-up limbs & branches after a storm, and I needed it for a monster tree. I am 65yrs old and in relatively good health. I have felled many trees in my day but couldn't do this tree in 1-shot because of the utility lines. Setting-up the ladder and climbing up & down it was the hardest part of my chore..... THIS SAW MADE THE JOB EASY!!! After topping the tree, I came down to where the trunk forked into 2 huge limbs that were each 13 inches in diameter. I know some will doubt me but this saw went through them like hot butter!!! This left me with the main trunk and like I stated earlier, it was 21 inches thru... I cut it about 6 inches above the ground and working my way around 3 sides of it, the saw went right through it. I did cut it about halfway thru and then drove a wooden wedge in behind the blade to keep it from pinching. I can not say enough about how GOOD and POWERFUL this saw is. When ordering I ordered an extra chain, a quart of bar oil, and a heavy duty 100ft 15amp extension cord. I needed the cord, but could have saved money by not purchasing the chain and oil because the tree is now completely cut-up and the chain is still sharp... and the bar oil reservoir still has oil in it (using only the oil that came with the saw). If you're looking for a commercial saw, this wouldn't be it, but for work around your house.. THIS SAW WILL DO THE JOB! and.... You'll never have to mix gas & oil again!!!.... me either! :) With a generator you can cut wood anywhere!! lol I hardly ever post reviews, but I'm amazed how far technology has come, and the power this electric saw has... It's no toy!!!

Did the WORX 18" Electric Chain Saw meet my expectations? Absolutely not. It ridiculously exceeded them. I own several saws, a 20" Huskvarna and a smaller electric (corded) saw. For this particular project I was cutting down some very large (36"-48" in diameter) "petrified" tree trunks. The trees had been dead for many years and had long been cleared of all branches. The wood was white and as hard as steel. The Huskvarna saw was getting through it, but it was tough, averaging 30+ minutes per cut. I felt bad, as the gas saw was running at full throttle during these cuts and (I felt) was really disturbing the neighboring houses which were very close. A few weeks ago I decided to convert to an electric corded saw and complete the project that way. I was cautious, to say the least, about what I purchased, needing it to be a real tool and not a toy. The WORX 18" saw has been amazing, out performing the Huskvarna. It goes through Bar and Chain oil fairly quickly, bus as I mentioned, my cuts are averaging about 30 minutes each. The oil reservoir is generously sized. I ordered a second chain at the time of purchase, to be able to rotate them out, as needed. As is the case with any chainsaw, you need to be careful to not hit the dirt, as it will kill the edge on your chain very quickly. Probably the best feature overall is the (super easy and very well designed) automatic chain tightening feature. It is brilliant and works super well. Kudos to WORX for researching and building a really excellent saw. It will be my first choice for most of my sawing projects in the future. Neil Carlberg, Greeley, CO

A massive oak tree, 6 ft diameter, at the base, fell in a wind storm and crushed my car. I bought this WORK chainsaw to cut it up. Yes, with an 18 inch bar. It was phenomenal, cut easily and fast. Didn't need to sharpen chain till 3/4 way through the job. I get amazing, [almost faces of unbelief] stares from men when they find it's electric. Just haven't cut the last 16 feet of the trunk, which goes from 3 feet to 6 feet. Cut from both sides of the tree to get to the middle, once is was thicker than 18 inches in diameter. I repeat, despite twists, and pressure points, in a fallen tree, on a crushed car, and a damaged roof, this chainsaw cut easily, fast, without any hassles. Of course I had to use common sense in cutting through the pressure points, cutting from underneath, too. Cost me $107. Works now as if I had just begun cutting. Absolutely amazing deal for a $100 chain saw. I have pics!

My WORX WG304.1 18-inch saw is the BOMB! I have two much larger Husqvarna gas chainsaws, and unless it's a really huge tree, anymore I reach for the WORX. It's lighter, powerful, and it just plain works. I will say that I'm unable to run it using my Yamaha EF2400is generator as the initial start-up amps required by the saw will trip the overload protection on the generator every time. I'm currently looking for a hard start capacitor option, to provide the extra juice upon startup- but until then, I'm using a 10-gauge drop cord to the house. One thing I'd like to mention is that my saw has a steel drive sprocket, not plastic. Other reviewers have complained about the plastic drive sprocket- I don't know if they're now all shipping with the steel drive sprocket, but mine is most definitely steel (see picture). I love this saw! No, it's probably not the one to cut a 26" dia hickory, but mine took down and cut up a 16" diameter ash with ease, and never balked one second.

Did my research and settled on the 18" 4.0 hp worx chainsaw. Love it, I get firewood right out of the common ground behind my house and been cutting fire wood for most of the morning. This thing is super quiet and easy to handel and my favorite part is it starts every time you pull the trigger! I had my doubts about the size of logs I could gut. All the way up to about 12" to 14" it gut threw them like butter no bog down or problem at all. Ok here we go with the only draw back that I have an issue with and I did read from other reviews was the break lever that stops the bar from engaging is way too close to the hand so a couple of times I did keep hitting by accident, only draw back I would have to say about this saw, other then that it is a fantastic saw!!!

This saw is not equivalent to my gas-powered Husky, no matter what anyone says. On the other hand, for $110, it cuts down trees just fine and handles limbing and just about anything I need a chainsaw for. And it does so without mixing oil and gas, without have to pull a rope and without needing any tools to change a chain or adjust tension. At my age, these are all good things. I have no problem with cords and hate running out of battery power on a cordless. Also the rechargeable batteries add alot of weight. This is a great saw for the money and it does everything it should, so far.

I used this for a few hours over the weekend and it performed well. I owned a gas chainsaw in the past, but it seized due to bad gas mixture. I really like that I don't have to worry about that anymore. Yes, the extension cord is a limitation, but all the work I did this weekend was close enough to my house. I also purchased a 50ft 12/3 extension cord, but it was not long enough, so another 25 foot cord that I already had did the trick. The extra distance and thinner cord did not seem to affect the saw (but I was not cutting huge trees). The work I was doing was removing many large shrubs, some as big as small trees, with stumps up to 6 inches of very hard wood. This saw cut right through with no problem. The power seemed similar to my old gas model - maybe a bit less powerful. The automatic chain adjustment system is nice, but I did have the chain come off about 4 or 5 times. Usually this happened at the end of a stump cut when the chain would catch on the stump at the end of the cut. But, it is easy to get the chain back on, just unscrew the knob by hand and remove the auto adjustment cover. Then get the chain back on the bar, and screw the cover back on by hand while holding the bar in place. I also purchased a quart of Oregon chain oil - I used up the small included oil container after a few hours. I did not notice the oil leaking problem that some other reviewers have noted. After I set the chainsaw down for a while, I did notice a bit of oil dripping off the end of the chain, but I think that would be normal since the chain is well oiled. This morning I checked again and there was just a tiny amount again under the chain. In summary, this saw did a great job, and I love that I don't have to worry about mixing oil and gas. It was not very loud, but it is still a powerful chainsaw and must be treated with the same safety respect as any chainsaw.

This machine came fully assembled and easily cut through oak, cypress, citrus, and plenty of other types of trees on my property! It says only 3 inch diameter maximum but I felt like it could do much more if needed. The look, feel, and design will only make you like this even more! I was using it on and off for about 3 hours yesterday cutting some pieces into fire wood and cutting some pieces down so they would fit in the yard waste bin. The chain stayed nice and tight the entire time and no leaves got jammed up anywhere in the body or chain housing. It did take me a bit of time to get started (I initially thought my unit was DOA) and the operating part of the instructions could have been written better or shown illustrations on how to engage/disengage the chain brake feature and that it was necessary to disengage upon first use. My only real complaint is that it didn't come with a power cord retainer like my Worx leaf blower but I'm sure I'll figure out a way to rig this where stepping on the power cord is not an issue.
