My 2-year old loves this! Bought as a second birthday present and she immediately knew how to do it without any instruction. Very intuitive for her age. Nice colors without being overly pink. There are 3 of the center pieces that I had to put away in storage because they are choking hazards for her age now (too small and thin), but the rest seem fine. She can spend up to an hour playing with this. My only suggestion would be for the pieces to snap together. They just rest inside of one another loosely, so if it gets knocked over they fall apart. Often she will bring a flower to me, but if she doesn't hold it upright, it comes apart and is frustrating. I think this would be appropriate for minimum 18 months to up to maybe 4 years? We'll see when she gets tired of it, but for now it is great!

I bought these for my 16 month old to practice her fine motor skills with. She LOVES this set. The bases are awful - she doesn't even use them nor do we (adults). The bases are unstable, too lightweight and have a hollowed out (vs. flat) bottom, which means I cannot retrofit them to be more stable - eg. velcro. But, the stems and petals are great. Now, because she puts everything in her mouth, I took out all the stamens and top pieces, leaving her only with pieces that have holes in them. But this creates endless fun and flowers upon flowers. She walks around with one hanging out of her mouth (blowing it like a whistle, though it's not...), and carries the pieces everywhere. It did come with a "storage box" made of cardboard, but we tossed it. Sad, because that's not very "green." However, the box was too small to functionally work for storage. Overall, if Green Toys would put a flat bottom on the base or a way to stabilize the base, that would be great, along with a plastic storage case that actually fits the pieces.

I was looking for something for my 2 year old that promotes fine motor and also could be a building activity. This was perfect! We got it on Amazon for $10 during their Christmas deals and it was a great purchase. Both my 2 year old and 4 year old like to play with it. I actually like to, too! I have my kids build a 'centerpiece' for the kitchen table a lot for dinner and they like participating. There are a ton of pieces and the cardboard box that is included for storage won’t cut it in our house, so we used a small plastic bin from the dollar store with a lid. Works great!

I purchased this back in December 2014 as a Christmas gift for my son. It has been one of the most used toy (if not THE most used toy) in my house. My son is now 4.5 years old and my daughter is 2.5 years old. They both love it and always have it out. It's so durable (watch out if pieces are left around since they will hurt your feet!) and invokes creativity. They constantly are bringing us flowers stacked as high as they can make them. Now today my son just did something new with them which made me want to finally write the review. He put the flower pieces on the bottom and top which made it like a sculpture! Really awesome and such a worthwhile toy I've never regretted getting.

My daughter is 3 years old, and is always carrying an empty watering can around to water nonexistent flowers. When I saw this, I knew it would make a great Christmas gift for her! She was so excited and happily built her garden, singing some cute song about building her garden that she made up as she went. There are enough pieces that you can do a few different designs, though it won't be a huge variety, and you'd probably want more than one set for more than two kids. It's not quite as open-ended as LEGO or wooden blocks, but it IS the type of toy that I'll put on rotation--which means I'll put it up out of sight for awhile and it will be a big hit over and over again when it comes out. It comes with a cardboard cube shaped storage box, and the pieces just barely fit, but it makes it easy to store. That box is thin though, and will probably rip eventually, so I'm sure all the pieces will end up in a new storage container. This would be cute in a preschool or Kindergarten classroom for a flower/plant unit, but you'd definitely want multiple sets in a group setting. I think $20 would be a fair price for what you get, but I wouldn't pay more than that unless it was a larger set. It's still a nice set and we haven't had any issues so far.

I bought this for my 2 year old daughter and she loves it. She's really into things that she can put together and take apart. PROS The flowers are easy to put together and take apart. They are very cute and there are plenty of combos you can make. So far, she will play with this toy for an extended period of time. Plus, it's recycled, which is wicked nice. CONS The base is light weight and can tip over if you make the flowers too tall on one side (I just help my daughter rearrange the base to better support the taller flowers she likes to build). I highly recommend this toy, especially if your child is a "tinker" and likes to put together and take apart.

Got this set for my 27 mos old daughter for Christmas since we got her much older brother a building kit. She loved building her flower towers along side him, but 8 mos later still likes to play with it, though usually she is using the pieces with other games. It appears to be one of those toys that just clicked with her and her little purse usually has a flower in it. She has also put crayons upright in the green base on her craft table. These have turned out to support quite a bit of open play, like blocks. Oh, and the pieces are very sturdy and NOT stinky plastic.

Funny story; I bought this for our three and a half year old for an Easter gift. The product description says ages two and up. While she enjoyed playing with it for a bit, it soon lost her interest. However! Her newly turned ONE year old sister LOVED this toy! She immediately started putting the flowers into the holes. The pieces (at least the ones we received), aren’t small enough to swallow, and hold up well to rough play. My younger daughter is now three and a half and STILL builds flower towers with this toy! I would say in general that this is geared toward younger children, and a big factor of how much play time it receives is also your child’s personality. My older daughter was not an early builder, as in she didn’t like to stack blocks, etc., but my younger daughter is! This was an excellent purchase for us!

This toy is so awesome!! I have spent hours online trying to find something different to entertain and interest my daughter, who is 2 1/2. She loves blocks and puzzles, but needed something new. This is the ticket, mammas!! Such a fun toy. And I cannot express UNIQUE enough. It is such a nice blend of building and creativity. GOOD Lots and lots and lots of pieces Beautiful colors - it is so pleasing to the eye, that I am continually compelled to play with it too Flexibility - It's super flexible for how you assemble your own flowers in the garden. - Practically every piece will fit into any of the other pieces. The only ones that won't are the pistols, which have to be the last part you put in (if you choose). - There is also a lot of flexibility in how you construct the base. Each of the 4 base sections can be attached to each other from either side. As a result, you can create a garden that is a serpentine line, a circle, or a combination of the two. - Your garden always looks different because there is so much variety in the pieces. Even the stems with leaves come in 2 different lengths. Satisfaction - This toy provides such a feeling of satisfaction when the child is done building his/her garden. They start with pieces, and end up with this beautiful creation. With blocks, you get a tower. Big deal. With this, you get a masterpiece! No Smell - A lot of plastic toys come with a funky smell that makes one wonder if there is any bad off-gassing going on. These do not smell. (though I haven't tested them for lead) BAD Design - It would be nice if the designers made each base piece a bit longer. It is quite a challenge to use all of the flower pieces because the holes in the bases are too close together and the pieces are too big to use adjacent holes in the base. Storage - I wish it came with a better way to store the multitude of pieces. It comes with a super-flimsy, thin cardboard box that isn't even big enough to close the lid completely. It would be nice if the makers packaged it in a small plastic container to use to keep all of the pieces. I will have to go and buy one, because the box cannot hold up to even light use, and it is necessary to be able to keep the pieces together in a more efficient way. Overall, a wonderful toy. I think this is going to be tucked away when my daughter outgrows it so she can use it with her children. It is so unique that she surely won't be able to find something similar when she grows up.

We bought this for our daughters 4 year olds birthday party. She loves flowers and I think this will get a lot of use out of it. Her and our 2 year old were both playing with it a lot when I first opened it. I love toys like this, rather than most things you see in regular stores.
