Too tall for our Pergola no more!!
Too tall for our Pergola no more! When I first put this thing together I didn't realize just how tall it was. Too tall in fact for our large pergola by the lake. It fit underneath but I could have run the risk of a fire if I used it underneath the wooden pergola. So I went ahead and took out the second tube, used brackets to attach the top burner unit to the bottom tube and presto, it is now the perfect size (no more than 6' tall) to use underneath the pergola. It even works better when it is not as tall. Still very tall for any kid to reach and get hurt but lower enough to put out a tremendous amount of heat to all around 9 feet of it. I've posted pics so that if you are having the same problem you can do this as well, it only takes a couple of screws, some nuts and four bolts with washers, a drill and you're on your way. Of course you will need four brackets to make it work. Just look at what I had in my tool box and used as brackets!! This thing is truly awesome and at this height, putting out 46,000 BTUs and at $155.00, you can't beat it! You will pay a lot more or the same for a 10,000 BTU table top one if you want this thing underneath a roof so why bother. Just follow the pictures I attached and enjoy!!

Works great on our deck...after making one modification
We recently turned our plain old (uncovered) back deck into a beautifully covered (partially screened) deck. Since doing this we spend every possible minute in the screened in area...watching TV, reading, napping, etc. Once the weather started turning cooler we researched heaters that would allow us to continue using our deck. That research led us to the Fire Sense Hammer Tone Bronze Commercial Patio Heater! After reading the reviews, I was worried that this might be too high for our covered deck but since others said it worked fine on theirs, I bought it. It arrived quickly and was packaged well. There were no missing parts and no dents. My husband quickly put it together. Once put together it is at least 7' tall. After firing it up we decided that even though our ceiling is a little over 9' tall this heater was just too tall for us to enjoy it safely. We loved the heater so much that like other reviewers, we decided to make a modification that would allow us to feel safer and enjoy it more. My husband modified the heater in about an hour. There are two pipes that fit together to connect the bottom where the tank goes and the top where the heat is actually generated. He removed the top pipe and cut off the top threaded end so that it was now only about 4 inches long. This allowed the modified pipe piece to screw into the bottom pipe and still have the existing bolt holes necessary for the very top part (where the heat is actually generated) to slide into and connect to the pipe. We love the heater! It puts out a lot of heat. We usually sit outside 5 or 6 evenings a week and with our nice Costco shades pulled down, we use the heater about 3 hours each night. Most nights we start out with the heat on high but usually turn it down after the area heats up. With this type of use we have found that a tank of propane lasts a couple of weeks. We would definitely recommend this heater!

Great Heater!!
Love this heater. Needed some warmth on the screened in deck area off the 2nd floor MBR. Like another review, I needed to shorten the height by 20" or so to avoid getting too close to the wooden ceiling. So I cut all but 4" off the upper tube leaving the internally threaded end intact, drilled 4 holes properly spaced around the perimeter to match up with the threaded holes. Works perfectly (see pic)!!

Easy to assemble and kicks out plenty of heat
Worked great and kicks out plenty of heat even on the lower setting. Used it in our screened in porch that has about three feet of clearance from the ceiling and the top of the torch. It was about 40 degrees outside and on the lowest setting it was still enough to keep us warm sitting by it with sweaters, pants, and socks on. Easy to put together despite the directions having not so great pictures to go by, easy to operate, and easy to move. Do keep in mind that if you put it together indoors, the top heat shield/deflector will NOT fit through a standard door, so don't put that on until you're outside!

Looks great. Works perfectly
Took my non-mechanically inclined husband about 90 minutes to put together. Looks great. Works perfectly. I like the brown finish which looks like it will be rust-resistant (although I have ordered a cover too). I bought this brand because that is what all the restaurants around here (central California) purchase so I figured they would be effective and durable. I like that the tank cover lifts up and hooks on the 'pole' so that it's easier to get the tank attached and sitting properly, rather than trying to work inside of a small, confined tank storage area.

Item 01775 Stainless Steel Commercial Patio Heater
This stainless steel model costs more but includes an electronic ignition that requires a AAA battery. Also, unlike the less expensive units with painted bodies, this one has a pre weighted bottom and does not need the addition of sand and windshield washer fluid to weight it down. That greatly simplifies the assembly. All parts came well packaged. Directions were clear and in clearly written English. Assembly was straightforward. I did have one small annoying problem. One of the six M6 nuts in the package was actually a 1/4 X 20 and would not tighten. A quick trip to the hardware store took care of the problem. Initially, I noticed a slight leaning of the top burner section. I loosened the four bolts, gave the top a slight twist, and then retightened the bolts. That took care of the problem. On initial startup the directions say to hold the gas control knob in for 2 minutes prior to pushing the igniter button. I only held the button in for a few seconds, and when I pressed the igniter there was a flash and the unit was immediately fully lit. I would not recommend waiting very long before pressing the igniter. There as some slight initial smoking, but it quickly subsided. Overall, I am very pleased with this heater. Update 10/11/16: If you purchase a Fire Sense product don't forget to go to the fire sense website and post a review. It will double the length of your warranty. Also, before you throw away the box, look for the serial number and record it for future reference. I called the company to find out how to register my unit and was told as long as I have my receipt it was unnecessary. They answered the phone within a couple rings. Very impressive.

Get One and Enjoy More of the Outdoors in Warm Comfort
My wife and I really enjoy this heater. Unless it is fairly windy, it keeps us toasty. We have purchased an additional propane tank so we don't run out. The "emitter screen" (the screen part of the Head Assembly) is burning out and we are working with Fire Sense to get a new one. We use this product a lot (since May of 2016) and usually on "High", so I do not consider the screen's mesh to be a failure, as that's the normal effect of high heat on thin metal. Fire Sense offers two emitter screes, but they differ only by one quarter of an inch in size, so we are unsure which one to order (a 1/4 inch is to close to tell, especially when ours has burnt through the mesh). The Users Manual does not list that part separately, thus the uncertainty. Had I known this during assembly, I would have measured it before completing the project. It still functions well, but we do want to replace it before there is an issue. The item was easy enough to put together and ours came with all the required parts. At a leisurely pace, I had it together in a little over an hour. No cursing, smashed fingers or frustration. It fired right up and we have happily been using it ever since. If we were to find a flaw, it would be that the item is a bit cumbersome to move, but we don't do that often (twice, so far). We also purchased the cover, helping us to limit moves as much as possible. If you do need to move it, take the propane tank out prior to the move (duh!). We would buy this product again.

I LOVE THIS HEATER
WOW, WOW, WOW, I LOVE THIS HEATER! Received the unit three days after order from Amazon. (I did not buy the commercial heater) Shipping box had minor damage... However, the contents were in excellent condition (NO ISSUES). The manual and parts were easy to follow, written in very good ENGLISH and everything: fit & finish, paint et-al are perfect!!! Time for assembly was about one hour and the unit made me look great to my wife ha ha. The price was good and the product is worth the price.... Plus, I got free shipping with "Amazon Prime". I may consider buying another... Great look at the right $$$ I would highly recommend this Fire Sense Patio Heater.

The heat is on.
I purchased the black one. It looks great and works amazingly well. Honestly, for the price (I paid $111), it's far better than I anticipated or expected. It really is commercial grade as described. Initial setup is possible with one person but probably easier with two. Instructions are easy to follow. The base holds WAY more sand/water than The laws of physics would seem to allow. This thing lights first time every time and the heat radiates across my entire patio area.

Do not assemble under a running ceiling fan. Just kidding really.
I have been searching locally for a quality patio heater. All heaters I have found in a moderate price range were impersonating beer cans ( cheaply made and flimsy) I was pleasantly surprised when opening and assembling this product. It is of good quality and construction. A big help is the instructions for assembly are clear and concise ( obviously written by some one with similar language skills) I am a contractor and get asked to assemble things frequently that my customers could not finish, and poor product assembly directions are a large cause for frustration. I have yet to fire this baby up but other than the possibility of a defective regulator I should be golden.
