... a HUGE galaxy note 3 and even though I love it, there's no where to comfortably place it ...
I have a HUGE galaxy note 3 and even though I love it, there's no where to comfortably place it in my car. You see, I have a terrible sense of direction, so I REALLY need my phone to tell me where to go on a daily basis. lol! It's really hard to drive to hold my phone in my lap in order to get directions. When I cam across this beauty, I snatched it up. It sit perfectly just below my air condition controls. I can now "see" my directions with ease. My husband, who doesn't like little gadgets uses it when driving my car. I think I'll buy another one for his SUV. I've read all the comments about the damage to vinyl but I've heeded the warning and not attached it anywhere it could cause damage. I'll stick to the little "crap holder" in the center compartment and the windshield on my husbands suv. I almost forgot to mention. My phone case is just as thick as an otterbox defender, and it in the holder. Granted, the holder was at its limit with my note 3, but it still fit.

STRONG!! RE-USABLE SUCTION. good for big/large phones.
So when I first got this I was concerned that the suction would not be strong. I unwrapped it and stuck in on my desk. aaand it wouldn't come off! It is strong!! I used the pull tab and it came off. So I learned first off that this thing will be strong and hold up! Using this car mount with a NOTE 4 with no case. I tried it with an S-view case as well and it still fit with absolutely no issues. Perfect fit. Good for large phones. Now that we past the strength test I needed to actually place it in the car...cuz I don't need a car mount on my desk. The beautiful part about this car mount is the reusable suction. Once the suction is used it can grab some dirt from the previous location. All you have to do it run it under water and let it dry and it is literally good as new. Very cool and works amazing. So thats what I did. I found a few potential areas in the car that I could place this but I ended up putting it on the windshield right below my rear view mirror. The orientation can be adjusted several ways and I found it to be pretty easy to use. Conclusion: This thing is strong and will stay put! reusable suction can be washed and its like new (really cool). great fit for large phones.

The Best Phone Holder, Especially if You Have 5.2"+ Phones
I got this phone holder a while ago when I had a Samsung Galaxy Note 2. I didn't think much of it then, and as I switched to the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S5, I didn't have a need for a big phone holder. That is until I got the Note 3, and realized all these other holders could not fit it properly. It's been a while so I forgot which holder this was. Luckily, one of those deal sites(BFAds.net) showed a deal with this holder, and from Amazon too, so finally I found it again and purchased it without hesitation. If you have a large phone(phablet), this is a godsend. What I love especially, is since these are large phones, they are heavier than most other phones, so they require holders with a special attachment/detachment method so that you don't just yank the whole holder off its suction cup when you try to attach/detach the phone. This has happened to me constantly with the other holders - they are just not made for these bigger and heavier phones - so even if they were to fit, it barely fit, so that it's so tight that when you try to attach/detach your phone, the pressure/weight you have to apply on the phone just yanks the whole holder free. With this holder, the attachment/detachment mechanism works perfectly for large phones. When not in use, the side grips are in an "open" position - they are at their widest to fit the phone in. When you attach the phone, the phone sits on the holder so that the button mechanism on the holder would depress, thereby clamping in the side grips to secure your phone in place. To detach, you just squeeze the buttons on the sides of the holder to snap the side grips open, and you just take your phone out. Quite clever, quite ingenious. For me, this is the perfect phone holder for my Note 3, and for all your large phones. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Does a good job with my Galaxy Note 3 and its case
I recently got a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and, since I'm all for protection, I also got a Trident Aegis case for it (try the Trident, you'll like it). Even with this fairly monstrous phone and the extra bulk of this case, it all still fits in this iOttie car mount -- just barely, but it fits. I doubt that it would all fit if I was using an Otterbox case, but that's another story.... After trying a few mounting locations, I came to the conclusion that, for the best, most solid and most durable mount, the windshield is the only way to go. I was able to mount it on the top of the dashboard and it stayed in place with the phone in it (but without me actually driving the truck), but it just didn't have the same firm feel that it had when I stuck it to the glass. I just finished a 1,000 mile trip from Wisconsin to New Orleans and the mount never gave any sign that it would fall off the windshield. There is a bit of shake when the mount has the weight of the phone and the shake of the highway working on it, but it stayed firmly attached to the windshield throughout the trip. Other than the fact that I'm very right-handed and the phone was to the left of the steering wheel, it was a good spot for the mount, and I could do some hands-free calling. This mount has 2 positional adjustments, plus the rotation of the suction cup before you attach it to the vehicle. Between the 2 adjusters, I was able to attach this mount to the lower left-hand corner of the windshield and angle it so that my phone (in its case) was lightly braced against the grab handle on the A-pillar of my Toyota Tacoma truck and thereby eliminated the slight shake that my truck would otherwise have caused. The one-handed insert and release functionality works as advertised. Note that you want to be careful when using the one-handed method to take the phone out of the case. "Some people -- I mention no names -- might have his or her phone slip out of his or her hand when the mount quickly releases the phone and the internal spring pushes it out of the mount. (Thanks, Trident, for a case that actually protects the phone, and doesn't allow damage to either the case or the phone in the process.)

Wow...that's one effective suction cup!
I had a similar item a few years back that I used for my ipod. That device came with smooth plastic disks that you could fasten to the bottom of your cup holders using double sided tape. This was necessary because the suction cup wouldn't hold when attached directly to the bottom of the cup holder. But even using these disks, the think kept coming loose. Last month I went on a long road trip, Dallas to Las Vegas. I bought this because I wanted to keep my new Galaxy Note 3 at a convenient place...if I saw an email come in that was important, I could then stop and answer it. I expected this thing to be like the other one, and work OK at first and eventually come loose as the suction cup lost it's effectiveness. Well, I made a mistake before I left...I put it in my truck to use it for a few days before I left on the trip in my car. I attached the suction cup directly to the bottom of the cup holder in my Honda Ridgeline, thinking there was no way it would hold a vacuum against that relatively rough surface. I was wrong! When I went to remove the thing and move it to my car, I couldn't get the suction cup to release! And I'm telling you, I was pulling on it pretty hard! So hard that i was afraid I was going to break the cup holder on my truck. Yes, I DID release the suction clamp before trying to remove it! There's a little tab on on the suction cup, and the idea is that you pull that tab, and as soon as the edge of the cup lifts, it'll come off, right? Uh, not so much! I had to grab onto that tab with a pair of pliers, and peel the cup off the bottom of the cup holder. So, I put it in the car...and I figured I'd want to take it out when I got back, so I didn't clean the suction cup. In fact, I touched it a whole bunch with my fingers to LESSEN the grip, because there's not very much room in the bottom of the cup holder to reach the tab! Of course, it held perfectly for the whole trip, and when I got back, I had just as much trouble removing it from the cup holder. That thing just would not let go!!! when I finally got it loose, I set it on the seat beside me while I did something else, and when I picked it up, the cup was sticking to the leather seat. The perforated leather seat! Anyway, the cup obviously doesn't just use suction...it's sticky, too. And when it's attached, it's REALLY attached. The rest of the mount is OK...It's got enough range of motion to accommodate most situations. I wish it was about an inch taller, but that's about my only gripe. I'd definitely buy one again. Just be warned...if you put one of these in one of your cup holders, you can pretty much forget about ever using that hole to hold a cup again!

This thing is awesome. The suction cup is not soft plastic
I got this to hold my Samsung Galaxy Note 5. I specifically got the phone because I needed a large screen to see GPS directions when I drive my Class A RV. The dash is huge and so far away from where you sit, you need a large screen to see. The place on the dash where I wanted to mount this has a very slight curve, but it was enough that no phone holder with a suction cup could hold on for very long. Also the dash is hard plastic and has a texture to it that would make it hard to seal even on a flat surface. the iOttie WILL STICK TO ANY DASH!!. This thing is awesome. The suction cup is not soft plastic; rather it is almost an adhesive material itself. It is sticky and gooey to the touch but does not come off or leave a residue. It just sticks to anything even if it is heavily textured. The "gooeyness" of the suction cup allows it to fill any textured crevices and hold a seal. It has been on my dash for 1 month now and has not budged. No other product would hold longer than 3 minutes. It also has great pivot points that allow you to position your phone in any manner you like. The movement when adjusting the position is very fluid and smooth and the system used to hold your phone in the cradle is very intuitive and secure.

This DOES work with a Galaxy S3
I spent a lot of time searching for the best phone mount, read dozens of reviews. Some said this particular mount would NOT hold a Samsung Galaxy S3 with an Otterbox defender case, others said it did, and yet others said it did but interfered with volume and power buttons. So I contacted iottie directly to get their recommendation. This was their recommendation (as of 3-25-14). First of all, as most other reviews state, it's super sticky and secure. I haven't tried to remove it from my dash yet so I can't speak to how difficult it is to remove, but it's easy to put on and feels super tight. It's very easy to put the phone in, and also to remove it. My specific phone is a Samsung Galaxy S3 with an Otterbox defender case. I do not have the "third layer" of the Otterbox case ( the dark hard plastic part with a clip on the back of it) on my phone - I have the first layer that goes directly around the phone, and the silicone layer over that. Width-wise, it fits fine in this holder with a bit of room to spare. In the Otterbox case, the thickness of the phone is a bit larger than the thickness of the bottom bar of the mount, but it still fits and is very secure when the side bars of the mount are locked in place. This bottom bar of the mount is somewhat adjustable - it can be adjusted vertically, but that's about it. It works, even with having the phone plugged in to the car charger. Now for the part that varies from review to review - the side bars of the mount that clamp the phone in place do partially cover the side volume button on the left side of the phone. It does not touch the power button on the right side of the phone. BUT even with the bars firmly in place, it does not change the volume and has no effect on the volume function of the phone. I have tried over and over to see if these side clamps EVER change the volume, and I have not found that is does, not even once. The clamps have a dense foam-like piece on the inside of the side clamps that are actually what is touching the phone, and I think even though this is dense foam, it has enough give that it doesn't press the volume button enough to change it. But I must add, it's definitely a strong enough hold that the phone is very secure in the mount. I have no worries of the phone falling out - I can't even picture how that would happen. So, my review comes down to this mount DOES fit the Samsung Galaxy S3 with an Otterbox defender case and does NOT change the volume or power buttons on the phone. Hope this clarifies this and helps others with their purchase.

Overall I love this mount.
If you attach this to the windshield it’s technically illegal BUT the only problem I’ve had with doing that way is on extreme hot days the glue tends to run. It’s easy to clean with goo gone and then a degreaser and didn’t run a second time for me. It does wobble if your phone is big. You’ll need to tighten up all of the knobs on it real good and that will help. I’ve bought three of these as they become too loose after about a year. However, this model is worth it to buy again in my opinion. The second time I bought it was because someone pulled it down too hard and it got super loose which made the phone wobble when driving.

Truely Worth Its Weight in Gold
I don't love very many "things" but I can say without a doubt, I LOVE this thing. I've been in the market for a dashboard car mount for months but held off buying because some of the reviews concerned me. I researched iOttie and decided to try their product but was unsure of which model to select. My iPhone 4s is encased in the larger defender case (the one with two parts), so that was an extra concern, but when both the XL car mount and RapidVolt charger went on a Christmas sale on Amazon, I couldn't pass it up. Upon receiving both items, I unboxed them and skimmed the assembly instructions. Both were simple to understand and install. The only issue I've ever had with the car mount is that it disappointingly fell off once in the beginning, but upon further examination, it was due to my own stupidity of not clamping down the release mechanism on the base. It has not fallen off since, although I have re-positioned it twice now and I didn't have any issues with doing this, as some others have had. You have to make sure the car surface is clean and the air isn't dusty when re-applying, otherwise, you will probably need to clean it off. Saying I highly recommend this product is an understatement. This has been a true lifesaver, as I used to set my phone near me on some car surface, hoping it wouldn't slide too far away when needed. This is my very first experience with both iOttie and owning a car mount and I have not been disappointed, so far.

It is awesome so far!
Just received the car mount yesterday and it seems great so far. I purchased this car mount with the intent to use it with a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and a Samsung Galaxy S3. On the precautionary side, I emailed the seller prior to making the purchase so I wouldn't have any surprises later on. And I did not have any bad surprises! The car mount fits both phones perfectly. On each side of the mount, there is a release lever to push in for you to insert the phone into the "brackets". Once you insert the phone in, on the back end there is a lever/button that will pop and the side brackets will auto snap your phone in securely to lock it in place. The post part can be adjusted up/down, left/right with a 360 degree rotation. I haven't tried out the landscape view yet nor tried it on the dashboard yet to see how well the suction cup is; however, I think this is a pretty good product with what I have seen so far. I will be testing this product out extensively this weekend and return for an update. Update: This car mount is amazing! The suction cup is awesome! Very powerful. The place where we put it was not 100% touching the suction cup, but it had no problems holding the cell phone (S3 in the photo). We left the mount during the whole trip and when we arrived home, husband told me that we actually didn't even clamp down all the way, yet the mount never fell off [ don't try this...we could have been lucky ]. Coworker told me that his car mount was purchased for ~$7/$8 but with double sided tape rather than suction cup. I would definitely pay the price and get a suction cup mount rather than using a sticky tape that cannot be used in multiple cars. Therefore, I highly recommend this product.
