I replaced a small steamer-rice cooker with this because I didn't want the non-stick surface and this is stainless. Recommended by my daughter who researches her purchases carefully. This works as described and does a good job. Still wish they made a really small stainless steamer with a sealing lid. Some things, like chicken breasts, just aren't as tender. Like most stainless cookware, there is still some staining. But I have some stainless that's held up slightly stained for 60 years. And no second thoughts about health factors.

The unit is amazing, there are so many great things about it: no Teflon to flake off in my rice, incredibly easy clean up, you can actually cook in it (saute, steam, etc), it's a great size, etc. Unfortunately for my initial order I was sent the wrong item, but it was quickly taken care of by Amazon. When I got the correct unit, during my fourth or fifth use, the glass lid cracked around the steam vent and some small flakes of glass fell into the food. Truly alarming. After arguing with one of Aroma's customer service representatives (ugh), I was switched to a supervisor who very quickly sent out a new lid and made up for my loss of food with a nice cookbook. Try the lentils and rice recipe... delicious!

Upgraded my 10 y.o. rice cooker with non-stick coating with a shiny new stainless steel unit. After a couple sub par attempts to making typical white rice that is a staple of Hawaii and Asian cultures, the perfect rice/water ratio has been found. Simply put: 3 cups rice using the supplied measurement tool to 4 actual fluid cups of water. White rice is now fluffy and sticky, perfect for Sushi, Musubi, and everyday meals. Pros: - Stainless Steel Cooking Pot is shiny and free of any non-stick coating - Makes perfect white rice with the correct rice/water ratio - Lightweight and appears durable - Nice clear function buttons - Competitively priced - Easy to clean Cons: - Water splatter from vent is an issue with all other rice cookers

I am very pleased with this cooker. It makes excellent rice. I LOVE the stainless steel pot - we are desperately trying to avoid Teflon and non-stick products. The pot itself is very good looking and there's no problem leaving it on the counter. I like that I can cook/saute in it, in addition to steaming other items. This has a large capacity and should work for most households. I checked out some rice cooker books from the library and have an array of recipes to choose from. This cooker is a work horse and I am very happy that I purchased it. The price is great - especially for the functions it provides and (BONUS!) the stainless steel cook pot. That, in itself, is worth the price! If you buy it, I think you'll be very happy with it. Happy cooking!

Great upgrade from my 3 cup rice cooker! My small Aroma cooker worked great for years but I am now concerned about the aluminum liner. This one has the stainless steel liner, plus the steamer and fuzzy logic. All great! This can cook more than just rice too. I made Jook - Chines Chicken and Rice Pooridge. Rice cooker is listed as one of the top 9 items to have in clean cooking. I also ordered the book by Katie Chin - 300 Best Rice Cooker Recipes. Can't wait to try out the different recipes especially the risotto!

Since I bought this I use it on a regular basis to cook BROWN Rice and Steam Vegetables simultaneously. Definitely read through all the directions. Classic brown rice takes about 95 minutes which is the way REAL brown rice should cook. The boil in a bag rice is not healthy contrary to those companies claims it is much HIGHER in starch and calories. The rice has come out perfect every time and the vegetables retain their nutrients unlike other methods of cooking such as microwave (which destroys the food on a cellular level) or cooking on a stove top where too much heat destroys the nutrients. If you want a healthy way to cook your rice and vegetables don't look any further get this steamer now! It uses all surgical grade stainless steel so their is no chance of contamination by plastic (BPA) or PFOA (Teflon coating) . Many of the other steamers either have a plastic tray for steaming food or a Teflon coating. None of the ones containing the plastic have stated on the box or information "BPA FREE". If you are not familiar with BPA or PFOA I highly suggest doing a search on the internet and read up on these subjects. The health ramifications of these chemicals is very bad. For ease of cleanup I recommend putting dish soap and hot water in the pot after use and letting it soak for a little while then using a dobe pad (its a foam sponge with a plastic mesh around it) this will work the stuck rice out of it and keep from scratching up the stainless steel. Like the instructions say the bottom of the bowl is slightly concaved inward so don't press down hard while washing as you could bend the dome outwards ruining its contact with the heating element in the unit. You honestly would have to put a lot of force on it to do this. This is one of the best small kitchen appliances I have ever purchased.

so happy to have a stainless steel rice cooker! kind of small, but still big enough for us to make soups, stews, chili, and spaghetti sauce. it is our everything cooker and we love it and use it everyday. we've had it about two months now, no issues so far. though we had to learn the hard way that the "keep warm" option shuts itself off after about 12 hours, maybe less. also keep warm is just that, don't expect it to be hot if you've had it on this setting for awhile. otherwise, very pleased with it. we never have trouble cleaning it. we always take it off the heat when the rice is finished cooking. then while eating dinner, let it soak, comes clean with little to no elbow grease

I have never reviewed any product on Amazon, but I am so pleased with this rice cooker that I wanted to share my very positive experience. I've only had it for a few days, and while the white rice seemed fine, the short grain brown rice was excellent! I followed the directions exactly, plus added a little salt and a pat of butter. It took about 1.5 hours -- and I steamed some kale in the steamer while the rice was cooking. The rice came out great: firm and little chewy -- really, the kind of brown rice I get in my favorite vegetarian restaurant.

I love my rice cooker. I love that the parts that touch the food are stainless steel. I have cooked brown rice, whole oat groats, wild rice, barley, freekeh, etc; I've steamed fruits. I'm still intimidated by it, but I do intend to saute in it soon... I love it especially because I can wash the dishes while the rice cooker is cooking whatever I need without too much attention... It's pretty easy to clean up, even when it bubbles up....

We LOVE this rice cooker! It is compact and fits nicely on our small apartment counter. Steamer works well. And the best part which most rice makers don't have is the "Saute-then-Simmer" option. User tip: Using the micro-wave to re-heat rice ruins it. You can use this rice maker to re-heat your rice. After cooking the rice, if you have leftovers, just plop the pot with lid in the fridge. It is small enough to where it will fit in most fridges. Then when it's time to re-heat, add a little water and use the "Saute-then-Simmer" option just for a few minutes to quickly re-heat the rice.
