Just wanted to review this. I have had it installed for awhile and it is going strong yet. Looks no different than an OEM one, but a lot better value. I have had people tell me not to buy truck parts from Amazon, but all I can say is that it works for me and has the same warranty as a reman from the auto supply.

Installed a week ago. Seems to work quite well. Local auto stores want 3 times more for a re-manufactured starter and charge a core. I've used DB Starters on watercraft, for years, and they hold up as well as any OEM starter; which tends to cost 3-4 times more. Top bolt is a real PIA to reach, but that's a ford design flaw. Make sure you have a 1/4" ratchet and a lot of patience to reach it.

This is by far the cheapest priced starter for my F-150. It was an exact fit from bolt pastern to electrical connections. I replaced my fried starter with this one and my truck started right up no problem. I have seen negative feedback on this product because the top bolt is hard to get to. This is not a flaw of this product, but a design flaw by Ford. I found that the top bolt is best to be removed using a 3/8 ratchet with a 6 inch wobble extension and a shallow 13mm socket. When you think the bolt is out keep going a few more minutes to ensure that the threads are fully out.

works great 5.4 2001 F150

I installed this on my 2001 f150 5.4 triton. It installed and fit well. Not happy with ford on the top bolt location, but this motor has been starting my truck for over a month and even handles extended cranking time when it is cold and my CNG truck doesn't want to start easy. Only thing I didn't like is the little plastic covers on the side of the motor and solenoid housings broke when I let the motor lay on its side. It would be nice if the plastic clip inside the rubber cover wasn't so fragile.

For the price, this was a great deal on a starter for my Ford F150. I've had it installed for over a year now with not a single issue. It cranks the engine over strong and fast. No issues what so ever in performance or quality and it's been used primarily in rain and snow. Great deal!

This replaced a locked up starter. It went in like a starter should and starts the truck like it should. So it's got one over on the old starter by quite a shot there. Unfortunately, the starter did not come with power windows, locks or a remote starting system, so the truck still does not have these things. Also as I discovered, it neither whistles nor rings a bell when operating. As I did not detect these items on or in it when I was installing it, I can only say that it does not come with bells or whistles. Or a kazoo. There was no kazoo in the box. The old starter also did not come with these things, but it also did not make a sound when I really needed it to, and this one does, so it's got another one over on the old starter. Most disappointingly, it did not come with a chauffeur; so I cannot recommend it to those who expect a chauffeur to be packaged in their starter box with the starter. It did allow the engine to rotate when I tried turning it over by hand so it's got one over on the old starter there too. It also did not come pre-installed, so I had to do that myself. I would have had the mechanic install it, but the mechanic I took the truck to told me the engine was seized and we would need a new engine. It turned out that the starter was locked up and locked out, so the new starter has another one over on the old starter there too. Also I have one over on the mechanic, so throw another star on there for that. Overall this is a good, solid starter, which is more than I can say about the old starter. That is not entirely fair, the old starter wasn't so much good, but it was very solid and made a lovely new dent in the dumpster when I chucked it in. This new starter does have one fabulous feature that is just incomparable to any other. It allowed me to start the truck up a mere two Amazon prime days after the mechanic told me I needed a new engine so I could drive around the parking lot of the mechanic whilst staring at him, which was lovely as he seemed astonished and irritated. Also, this starter does follow the law of gravity. It resisted quite a bit my attempt to hold it off the ground when I was installing it, but I persevered. The old starter also followed the ladle of gravity, which is what you get when you mistype "law of gravity". Unfortunately, the only function the old starter performed well was as a demonstration of the law of gravity.

If You need a starter for your 6.8L V10 don't go any further from what i can see this is exactly the same starter that you will be charged aproximately 140 for at the cheep discount auto parts stores in town - I installed this yesterday 5/4/15 to replace the factory starter in my 2002 that I got in September of 2001, and has just under 200,000 miles on. It has fired up great the 2 starts i have done so far, I will post updates.... My thought is that if this makes it even 3 1/2 years it will be well worth it. the factory motorcraft is over 214 dollars before tax, and made it just over 13 years. If you can afford to wait for delivery of this starter, then wait! you will be happy.... at least I am.

Happy the I found a good starter for my expedition for cheap when I pulled it off my old one I thought it did not fit cuz the teeth look smaller than the original teeth were very large my old alternator so I didn't think you going to fit my 2001 Ford Expedition but I took good chance and said Hank with that I try it anyways since I have it put it on and it worked perfectly so if yours teeth on your old one look bigger than the new you bought for your expedition or if 150 it will work and it starts at Mary quickly as a lot of power for turnover think you also for quick shipping

This starter was installed on my 2006 Ford Expedition 5.4 Engine. I was a little skeptical of the price. The quality is exceptional. I have had this on for a couple months now and no issues at all. Spins over much faster than the worn factory starter with 130k miles. This is actually my second DB starter, the other one I purchased was put on a 2001 Mercury Cougar. It’s been on for 6 months now without any issues. Both were well below the price of the parts store starters, and these are new without a core requirement and new parts. Very happy with this brand, for price and quality. Don’t hesitate to save yourself some money.
