Works so well, now I wish I didn't know.
This thing is so good. It shows every single stain over the years where our dog peed when he was a puppy and still having accidents on the carpet. We thought we cleaned but you can clearly see all the spots. It also shows where dust is hiding that you don't even see when the lights are on. So in conclusion, this UV light is almost too good. It shines brightly over a large area at least 6 feet away. Now I can never lie on the carpet again cause i know where all the invisible stains are. They should sell this as a bundle with a carpet steam cleaner. Ordering two more as gifts. Haha!

Scorpion hunter
We have a lot of scorpions here and they are tough. Barrier sprays do almost nothing against them, and I've tried them all. Even hitting them square-on with powerful products often doesn't kill them, at least not for a while. In fact, these poisons usually just kill the spiders and gekkos, and the scorpions come back stronger with no natural predators around. Whenever possible I like to let living things live, but nothing has stopped these creatures from coming into my home to seek refuge from the Texas heat. I'm tired of my kids getting stung trying to get dressed, my dogs getting stung trying to protect us, and guests being scared half out of their wits on a regular basis. A few weeks ago my son's young friend had a scorpion fall on his back in the middle of the night. A week before that my dog was stung and went into respiratory distress. Evidently he's become allergic. Now, after 8 years, this is really war. And this flashlight is my high-tech weaponry. This flashlight makes scorpions light up bright green in the night. In combo with some ultra-fashionable orange uv/blue-blocking glasses, they'll light up in the daytime as well, though not as brightly. Armed with the killing tool of my choice, I fire this baby up and sweep the indoors; looking in closets, under sofas, behind everything. I've found a good number in the house this way. But the real "fun" is outdoors. The first night this light helped me find and kill at least 50! The flashlight has strong uv output, and very little visible light so it works very well for this purpose. I can sweep an area quickly, and the scorpions light up very well. I can be quite thorough without spending the whole night. Using this light and the information gained over multiple nights, I have been able to identify where the beasts tend to be concentrated, and, with patience, where they hide. Whenever possible I kill the scorpions manually, my favorite tool being a BBQ spatula, or if they are high up or in a tight spot I use a petroleum-based spray to kill them (eventually). With the spray I also target their hiding spots, like weep holes, the expansion joints of the driveway, the crack in the back step, etc.. I don't spray everything because I don't want to kill the geckos that hunt them. In this manner I have made a huge impact on their population, and I'm finding fewer and fewer each night. Before the war began I was seeing an average of four a day indoors. It's been a few days now since I've seen one in the house. Eventually I foresee reducing the hunts to once every two weeks during their season, and experiencing significant relief from this plague we've been enduring for so long. I'm really happy with my purchase, and the results I've already seen. The flashlight is well made, it feels heavy and solid, and puts out a lot of uv. The battery compartment is a little different. Be very careful to install the batteries correctly, they go in in odd directions, so mind the polarity markings. As far as battery life is concerned, I'm pleased there too. We haven't had to change them yet, and this thing has seen many hours of use since it arrived. Especially once I figured out I could use it to find previously unknown doggie indiscretions and teach my son about the importance of good aim. I'm really happy I bought this, and happy too that I found a good one, because the reviews of some other brands weren't that encouraging. Hope this helps.

Dude!!! Read my story!!! SCORPIONS EVERYWHERE
Ok, I had NO IDEA how well these worked!!!! We have had a scorpion problem in our home, here in Kingman, AZ, for quite some time. When I got stung in my bed at 3 a.m., I invested in tons of bug spray, and this flashlight. The type of scorpion we have here is the "bark scorpion", and BOY DO THEY GLOW when this light hits them. I could see them from across the yard! A good 20 feet away!!!! I feel safer with this light than I do in the daytime! I'm totally freaked out now, because we found scorpions all over the foundation of our house, crawling in-and-out underneath the stucco. We killed at least 15 the first night!!!! We also found a little one inside the house. I'm writing this review, because I don't think I'll sleep tonight :(. I would highly recommend this light. It's like a spotlight! It's totally my new favorite toy!!!

WARNING: What has been seen cannot be unseen...
Purchased December 2017 for $8.95 with free shipping. This 51-LED Flashlight is Fantastic! I purchased a smaller 9 LED "UV" light about a year ago and it was junk, lots of LEDs are much, much better. From what I can tell every tiny little protein-based speck — protein-based as in pretty much anything that comes out of a living breathing creature — glows like a big bright neon sign. Lovely. This flashlight should come with a warning advising us that we "may" need to stock up on cleaning supplies and have a few extra hours set aside for addressing the interesting little things which we "may" find the first time we use it. What has been seen cannot be unseen — in my own "clean" house I was amazed and appalled to find far too many little invisible-to-the-naked-eye specks, splatters, and streaks. Ugh. The flashlight takes 3 standard AA batteries. They were easy to install. The on/off button is located on the side where it is comfortably within thumb reach. If you have teenagers, plan accordingly. Privileges are earned. I did not in any manner receive any compensation whatsoever for this review. Unfortunately.

This light helped me discover that WWIII was happening on my landing...
I loaded this up with batteries as soon as I got it and in daylight (inside of course) took it out to where I know that one of the 3 cats in the house had wet before. I had no idea what the horror that I was about to discover. As I swept the bluish-purple beam across the carpet and along the baseboards, what was reflected back to me in brilliant white was a story of struggle, of frustration, a fight for dominance and standing, a battlefield of stains and sprayings. The 3 little kitties act nice and purr and softly meow with one another when we're around, but buried deep within each of their dark, furry little hearts must lurk a dark force that compels them to out spray each other. Either that or they are all colluding against me; peeing on the walls and carpet when I'm not looking, even though they go out 5x a day and have 2 litterboxes in the house. The good news is that this flashlight is a secret weapon for humans to fight back. I've started stalking the halls and their favorite marking spots with my water gun which I use to generously douse any cat who so much as hesitates in his or her passage through the hallway. I bought some enzymatic cleaner that breaks down the urine stains and erases all trace of their work. My sudden advantage of knowing exactly where everything was happening, coupled with the super soaker, it has completely thrown the cats into a state of confusion. They don't know HOW I know, but they know that I know, and they no longer pee anywhere that I can find. I'm in charge now! This flashlight truly tips the odds in your favor!

The Best One I Own..
As a stay at home mom of two young kids during the day, and a scorpion hunter by night, I have owned many similar type of flashlights. But this one is definitely my personal favorite. I've had it for a couple months now, use it almost every night, and it is still just as awesome as when I first purchased it. Its durable, its bright and its the perfect size. My husband even prefers this one to our many others. So much so, I will replacing my other flashlights with more of these. Over time, their lights just dont seem as bright, and after a drop or two on the ground (I'm a little clumsy sometimes) they just never work the same. But this flashlight has stood up to my clumsiness and daily usage, and well, its just a very handy little tool to have in my world.

Found a Load of Scorpions
My friend and I both looked through a ton of Amazon reviews in search of a high quality UV flashlight with the intention of hunting scorpions. There are tons of choices on Amazon and we've both seen plenty of garbage gimmicky UV flashlights. After looking at a few different price ranges without any significant difference between the specs and reviews, we decided it would be a much better idea to spend <$15 on a decent quality highly reviewed light rather than $90+ on "professional" ones. Primary considerations were light quality, durability, longevity, battery usage, battery type. Honestly I couldn't find anything describing the difference between lights with a single LED and a boatload of LEDs. There's a great, detailed user review from a guy that bought this light and another brand's almost identical light (in both price and style). That review and the low cost were the major deciding factors in going with this light. I can't attest to the longevity and durability of this model as I've only used it for a couple hours. I can say that it appears to be a quality item. 3 AA batteries aren't difficult to come by. The light is very powerful, bringing out a brilliant fluorescence from a good distance (10-15ft, but keep in mind some of these scorpions were tiny). Definitely not disappointed!

Proceed at your own risk
It's simultaneously the best and worst decision I've made. I smelled dog/cat urine in my dining room last week, but couldn't find the source. I purchased this to find the stains. It was a scene from a horror movie. It turns out it was probably one of the stains on the carpet or THE WALLS (the previous tenants must have had a cat who was territorial) that existed before I got here and the summer humidity has resurrected some things that weren't actually my dog's fault. I'm ready to leave and go live in my car now. Bottom line, if you want to see things you can't unsee, this little thing can do that for you.

THIS THING IS HORRIFICALLY AMAZING!!!!!!! HIGHLY RECOMEND!!!! WORTH THE $$$
Been house hunting and bought this to check potential homes for pet urine stains around the house and carpet. WOW!!! It works well for WAY more than I thought it would!! Perhaps too good - some things I cant even explain. Like stains that I can't get out around my house. Some things will just glow - like the grout in one of the bathroom floors I think they used a swiffer mop or floor wax on ?? If you want proof it works - go pee in the toilet and turn the light out - point this LED at the toilet and it glows like you poured those kids neon green glow sticks into the toilet. I turned the lights out and used the flashlight while I was peeing - of course I did - I am a guy. You will swear your kidneys are radioactive. Here is the scary part - turn the lights off in the house and walk around looking at everything. I have been looking at houses and even though they look clean = hardly anything is. Stains you can't really see if at all with regular lighting will glow like a crime scene with this Black Light LED. Clean your kitchen then point this thing around your stove, vent hood, microwave, refrigerator door, floor, around the sink, back-splashes, bottoms of the cupboards, etc. Clean your bathroom and then use this to check around your toilet, walls, the floor..... YIKES!!! Your own house will horrify you. I run a clean ship - at least I thought I did. Now this is my Quality Control checking device.

woah it works!
Well here is my long story...long lol 4 years ago we renovated our basement and brought in the big guns to clean the carpet because it was in good shape. All was happy until 3 weeks ago when our dehumidifier leaked . When it did so, it surfaced a horrible urine smell. Now we knew the carpet was super clean. However, we had just put down our cat after suddenly discovering he had a cancerous tumor around his heart and was suffering badly. Did poor kitty not make it to the litter some of the time while he was ill and we did not know it or was it older urine from a house guest who abused the privilege of having their doggy with them in our guest quarters? No matter, the smell was awful, permiated everything, and I freaked. We doused the suspected area with vinegar and let it site for a week, then called our carpet expert friend who told us to bring in a carpet steam cleaning company. The urine smell is still there at a lower level combined wth t vinegar smell still, which is enough to keep me very unhappy. So, next step - find out what is in the rug. I had had a pet black light in the past but now there are these nifty led ones so, due to the reviews, I gave this one a try. Woah! it definitely works and of course now I have confirmed my reason for freaking out. I have found many yellow stains, some I Believe are urine and some I think are old vomit areas because I remember cleaning those areas up. They all come up yellow. Then there are white areas, particularly where the vinegar was put and steamer company worked. These area still smell (hence the reason for buying the light). I did ask a question to the community about the difference in the colors and what they may mean. I would love to hear frorn the manufacturer as to their opinion. My next step is natures miracle - which does work fabulously, but I do see new carpet in my future as soon as I save all the pennies. Anyway, I give this product 5 stars because It works and it is made well. Sturdy metal, good size but not too big or clumsy - Nice for my woman's hand - and a good sized beam form the light. It's a product worth buying.
