not having used anything like it before
Okay. Now I can't say this will do the same for YOUR marriage, but it sure helped mine. I happen to prefer either natural light, or the dark.. I can't stand most lights. My husband is the exact opposite. So he turns on every light in the house. I can live with that, but he never turns them off. He will put on this one light where I sit and use my laptop or watch t.v., sit on the sofa, and promptly fall asleep. Drives me insane. I got sick of sitting in the room with the light on for him, and he's not even awake. So, I bought this nifty little device. I was skeptical that it would work, not having used anything like it before. The Etekcity Wireless Remote Control Electrical Outlet Switch works fabulously. You don't even need to point the clicker towards the outlet. I now, from my sofa, can very easily either turn on, or turn off, the light that has been the bane of my existence. This makes my evenings so much better. Now they have this item for sale, with either one, or several in the package. It's more cost effective to buy a package with more than one, however, for me, I don't have other lights or items that I would need to use remotely. It is easy to install, no need to worry that you're not an electrician. You simply plug it in, and you're good to go. It also comes with the battery it needs to operate the remote. Count me as one happy customer.

Remote Control For Outlets
This is a great device. You can turn on or off anything that you plug into this remote outllet. It is easy to use. Just plug the remote outlet into a regular outlet, then plug anything into the remote outlet. The remote turns it on or off. There are four extra buttons on the remote, that are for other devices if you add more remote outlets. The remote takes a LR23A 120 V battery which is easy to find.

UPDATE:
bought this late 2016, and here I am looking for another one 6 months after because this just stopped working after very light work. On an average I would use this device 5-8 times a month, on a load that would lasts less the 10 mins. It worked decent for the period it lasted, never had any glitches with the product. but I guess it only has a short life span. UPDATE: Must comment on the prompt and efficient response and resolve from the customer service of this company, I received a replacement and to date it continues to work well. Will update you in a few months after running the device. So far so GREAT.

Very Handy Item to Have...
I'm Disabled and there are 4 places that are hard to get to so I use these remotes and they are great .... I've been using them a few years and bought this one to replace one outlet that i use the most as it would turn on with the remote but no longer turn off with the remote.... i can still use the manual switch on the outlet to turn on & off but prefer using the remote, considering i use them multiple times a day lasting a few years before any kind of a failure is very acceptable to me... i would recommend these to anyone as an inexpensive solution to the out of reach outlet. if you buy a set of remote control outlets you can program them all to turn on with one button OR turn each outlet off by a separate button... i have 2 remotes so i can leave one where i sit the most but also have one velcroed to my walker in case i need to turn them on or off as i move around...

Great for turning on a hard to reach lamp.
I have a floor lamp in the corner of the great room that is a little bit of a pain to get to. I plugged the lamp into this and attached the remote next to a wall switch (with 3M removable adhesive strips) and problem solved.

Great product, consider size before purchasing
This is a great little product for the price. The three complaints I read about this guy before purchasing were that 1. the unit is too big, 2. the remote has useless extra buttons, and 3. the unit makes a 'cheap' clicking sound when you turn it on and off. The extra buttons on the remote are really not a big deal in my opinion. And i chalk up the 'cheap' clicking sound to what is probably a very simple switch mechanism inside the unit. Also not a big deal. The one factor i'd definitely consider before purchasing is where exactly you want to plug it in. Make sure you will have enough space for it, because you may find it to be a little bigger than you expected!

Short People Problems & Answered Prayers!!! 10/10
This works just like I hoped it would! I make pizzas for a living, and I, as well as a few of my coworkers, experienced a problem because of our height. We're not terribly short with me being 5'3" and some of the others being around the same height, but we're just short enough to make plugging in the open sign a problem. The plug for the open sign is on the ceiling, so it is easy to unplug it at night by standing on the window sill or on a chair and pulling it down. The problem came in the morning for the managers and delivery drivers who were too short to plug it back in even with the chair which is bar stool height. My previous boss would drag the 8-9 foot ladder out of the bathroom every morning to plug it back in, but with our new boss and our tiredness of having to plug it back in, we would just leave it on when we closed up for the night. This remote control electrical outlet solves ALL of our problems! It's so awesome! (Sorry for the backstory, but I thought it'd be necessary for possible uses X3) Now, instead of leaving it on (and confusing customers) or having to drag a big ladder around, we can just use the remote to turn it on and off as needed! 10 outta 10 would recommend!

Very handy. The clapper for the 21st century!
I use this to remotely reboot my cable modem since its wireless acts up so much. I keep it in the living room downstairs with the TV remotes so I can reboot the modem upstairs when it inevitably dies while we're watching something. Very handy.

Convenient lighting!
This is a great device for lamps like I have in my home. I have mounted the remote right at the entrance to my room, just above the fan light switch (picture attached). Pros: It does what it is suppose to do. There is absolutely no lag in turning on and off the lights. You can rapid fire on and off, and the unit will keep up instantly. Audible clicking sound when turning on and off. Very happy customer no complaints!

Possible answer for using two single units
The unit worked so well, I ordered another. Uh oh! Now the light in the bedroom went on when I turned on the living room light. The number on the back of the remote was the same, so figured they must be "keyed" to the same frequency. Being that this is a single unit, there were no instructions as to how to change to a different frequency, or if it was even possible. Here's what I did to separate the two: 1. unplugged the base unit and waited about 30 seconds 2. plugged in the base unit and when the light began blinking... 3. held down the bottom left button until the light went out on the base It took several tries, but now the bottom left button turns on the light (and NOT my bedroom light!) and the bottom right button turns it off. Will this work on any unit? I don't know, but it's worth a try.
