• Use an extra adapter for home or work.
  • The Apple 85W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter is made specifically for your MacBook Pro with Retina display.
  • It’s held in place magnetically, so if someone should trip over it, the cord disconnects harmlessly and your notebook stays put safely.

Heads up - I think some of the older reviews on here are probably for the same listing but a different seller. When I ordered this (April 2018) it was listed as being sold by Apple, distributed by Amazon, and it showed up in Apple packaging. It's identical to my old charger and works perfectly.

I just received this charger today and it seems to be working good! I wanted an extra charger so I didn't have to carry mine back and forth from work. I didn't want to spend $80... but I also didn't want to buy some knockoff that was going to catch my house on fire. This seems to be a legit OEM replacement. I can't see any differences from the one that came with my macbook pro. I am completely satisfied with my purchase and saving $30.

I am not always sure when buying parts from Amazon if they are genuine even when they say they are. This power pack works perfectly and is genuine as far as I can tell. After a couple of years of heavy and not too gentle use, my original apple pack started to fray. This one to the rescue.

Purchased for use with newest model Macbook Pro 13" with Retina display. Works great. This laptop requires the 85W power supply. The product arrived exactly as described. Matches the original power adapter I received with the laptop a few weeks ago. Using this second power adapter for travel, where the original stays in the office.

Apple 85W MagSafe 2 power adapter for MacBook pro with retina display is an awesome and very efficient adapter. It is an unwritten fact that not all power adapters are the same because there are those are superior to others and fortunately this is one of the best adapters out there. The adapter goes for $79.00. This is an incredible price bearing in mind that the power adapter works as advertised. It is admittedly pricier than generic adapters but that shouldn’t make you shy away from making a purchase because you can be assured that the adapter will work. This is in contrast to the generics since you can never be sure whether or not they will work. Our house is not all spacious and this magnetic adapter’s DC connector ensures that my netbook is in place should someone trip on it and also weakening and fraying of the adapter will not be as serious/critical compared to a normal corded adapter. This is a worthy replacement adapter. Cords will fray more easily and quickly compared to this one. Cords can only handle so much and they will wear and tear at the slightest sign of pressure. This is a handy travelling buddy that is also compact. It is a no brainer that an orange light indicates charging and green indicates full charge. You don’t even need a manual to operate the adapter because everything about is pretty straightforward and I don’t foresee anyone getting frustrated because they can’t seem to correctly use the adapter. There is an AC cord if you need a longer cord. If this is not value for money then I don’t know what is. I believe I would buy this same adapter if the need for the same ever arose since I have already derived value for my money. I can’t talk about its durability but I know for sure that it won’t last forever. This is a given with all adapters eventually. The only difference between this adapter and the corded adapters is that the corded adapters wear off quickly compared to this one. It is a genuine product. Need I say more? Apple is a working horse in the computers stable and it shouldn’t come as a surprise that this adapter works as advertised. I don’t have a problem recommending this adapter to anyone looking for an affordable and quality adapter for their MacBook pro. Highly recommended!!!

I had my first charger for four years before having to replace it, but it went with me everywhere so I expected it to go out sooner than it did. I actually still have the first one, and use it to take my laptop with me to teach during the day and keep this one at home. The magnetic connection has saved my laptop many a time from plummeting to the ground when I inevitably trip on the charger. I do wish the chargers weren't so expensive, especially because it is easy to expose the wiring at the connection point between your laptop and charger.

The power adapter included in the original packaging of my MBP finally died. I put it down to a combination of heavy use, travel, and to an extent inadequate relieving of pinch/failure points where the cords attach to the power adapter itself. With this newest one, I'm enjoying the flexibility to change out the AC plug/cord: it will allow differing AC cord lengths and alternate plug (international!) options. Awesome!

My mac book pro 2014 Retina version stopped charging. After checking the battery cycle count and seeing it was it 567 (approx 1,000 is end of life for this version according to Apple's site) I one clicked this and got it the next day. It worked and it helped me stave off the trip to Apple to replace the battery for now. There are many things to check when it comes to power issues with your Mac and in my case the relatively low cycle count and the fact that the orange led light on the MagSafe stopped turning on are the reasons that led me to think this was my solution.

After my puppy chewed my charger cord, I was forced to buy a new one. I have been using this charger for 7 months, and I have had 0 issues. No overheating, no cord damage. Love this as much as my original.

Apple chargers are expensive... I've tried repairing one with the wire-replacement kit I bought on here... It sort of worked. I bought a few generic ones... they stopped working really quick. I've come to realize that while these can break if you travel with them often (I do -- and this is my 3rd or 4th one in 5 years) - it's like maintenance on a car... An expense to keep using it. This charger works great. After the last three non-apple things I tried, it's nice to just plug it in, and *know* that it works.
