I bought this because we were expecting a record snowfall and in our new house there was a little bit more area that needs to be cleared then I wanted to shovel. So, I gave this machine a little try and I must say I was totally impressed. We got about 2 feet of snow this past weekend, and this machine kept up with it. Now I did have to do some snowblowing halfway through the storm and then again once the storm ended, but I was able to clean my driveway fairly quickly as well as a big patio in my backyard I could clear that . It doesn't like to get a lot of high snow it kind of bogs down a little bit but if you work your way in lifting it up and down up and down it does fine. Heck the snowplow even pushed about 5 feet of snow into the entrance of my driveway but by knocking the snow down to the ground with a shovel and then letting the machine blow it out it worked very nicely . I wasn't sure what to expect at first but again like my headline says it was the best money I ever spent and since we don't always get record snowfalls this machine will keep up with it some of my coworkers kind of chuckled when I said I bought an electric snowblower but in the end I have the last laugh and a clean driveway clean walkway and clean backyard!

Think of this not so much as a snow thrower, but as an electric shovel. We had a heavy winter this year, and I abused it, and it took it like a pro. Get two extension cords. A good long one to the outlet and a second one between the first extension cord and the second one from the first to the machine. The second cord to get is the Husky blue all weather cord from the depot. Knot it with the snow blower cable and always keep attached. Also, make sure to get silicon spray and spray the snow tube before each use and you will get a much better throw. This machine will save your back from shoveling.

I bought this product for my girlfriend for a Christmas gift {ya, I know, thoughtful of me}. Anyway, she was afraid of my large gasoline powered unit, plus the purchasing/filling a gas tank did not excite her. I read the reviews of this electric one. Its motor is a heavier motor than the Toro I looked at by 2 amps. [15 amps vs 13 amp motor]. This means the motor is able to do more work. Other than my girlfriend needing to figure out an attack plan of her driveway so the power cord is not in the way, which she did, she loves it. She used to shovel her driveway, now with this and a leaf blower I got her to do her steps/porch, she is done in 20 minutes. It has only been several inches of powdery snow since Christmas, so this works fine. Even my 6.5hp gas thrower can have difficulty with slush, this has worked fine for her. No fumes/gasoline to deal with. Plus, she wheels it into her basement. Very lightweight for her.

My Snow Joe blower died just under 3 years after I bought it. On a Sunday during a 5+ inch snow storm. (A lot of snow for the DC suburbs). I chatted with a tech person. After determining that the snow blower is not working and won't work he order a replacement for me. This is a year after the warranty ran out. I had to return the broken blower, at their cost, before they would send me the replacement. This process took only 5 days. This is a great company that stands behind its great products. I highly recommend this blower and and company. Thanks Snow Joe.

This snowblower has far exceeded our expectations!!! My boyfriend and I recently moved from Florida to Erie, Pennsylvania for school and after the first big snowfall here in Erie, we were desperate to find an easier way to clear our long driveway than shoveling by hand. However, because we are both full-time students living on student loans, our budget is quite tight. Gas blowers were out of the question because of cost, and we had read many mixed reviews when researching electric blowers. After reading countless reviews and "top value-snowblower" lists online, we found that the general consensus for best snowblower in our price range was this Snow Joe. We took a chance (and said a prayer that this was the right choice) and purchased it -- and absolutely could not be happier with our decision!!!!!!! This Snow Joe Snowblower plows through 10-12 inches of snow with ease. With the exception of having to be mindful of where the power cord is, this snowblower isn't cumbersome at all to use and can plow our entire driveway (over 100ft long) in about 15min. The thrower chute rotates a full 180 degrees, giving you complete control over where the snow is being thrown. This snowblower clears the snow all the way down to the cement of the driveway without leaving a layer that needs to be manually shoveled afterwards. Another big plus for us is that this snowblower is relatively quiet (compared to other snowblowers throughout the neighborhood), which alleviated our fears of waking up the neighborhood at 5am (or earlier) when we are leaving the house. (My boyfriend and I are medical students and have to be at the hospital VERY early). The manual for this snowblower recommends using a 12 gauge extension cord that is no longer than 100ft and rated for outdoor use. We ended up buying this extension cord: US Wire 74100 12/3 100-Feet SJTW Yellow Heavy-Duty Lighted Extension Cord. It works perfectly with the snowblower, is very heavy duty, and is rated for extreme temperatures. Overall, we are extremely happy with this Snow Joe Snowblower, and it has saved us significant amounts of time and labor on clearing our driveway. This is definitely an excellent, affordable alternative to the more expensive gas snowblowers. We highly recommend this snowblower!!!!!!!!!!

Finally got to use. I purchased in the off season after shoveling many times the winter before. I have used twice now, once on fresh dyer snow and once on slushy wet snow. The dryer snow was about inches deep. It blew right off my driveway and walkway in record time. Yes the cord is always present, but it's a small price to pay for not having all the maintenance associated with a gas powered machine, especially in the mid-west where we don't get an abundance of snow. On the slush, it still worked, but threw the snow a shorter distance, causing a few additional passes. I also did not expect to get all the way down to the pavement as there was a layer of ice. Pairing the snow thrower with an ice melt that I put down right after was the perfect combo, what didn't blow off melted just a short time later. I love this machine.

I have a 10.5 HP beast of a snow blower that is nearly unstoppable, that is unless you want to get it up onto a 27x15 deck that is 20' up. I was looking for something that I could manage to carry up to the deck, and strong enough to use as a back up should my gas blower go on the fritz. I did some research and it appears that this model, and its sister model with the light, were rating about as high as they could go. We had a couple back to back storms here in CT last week which left me with about 16-18" of snow and ice on my deck that I really just didn't have the heart to move manually so I bought this item. I plugged it in and got started and I have to say I was pretty surprised at how well it did. My deck is pretty big, and I was done in about 75 mins, with about 20% of that time spent knocking down snow to a manageable height for the blower so I find it easy to give it 5 stars. Anything I was attacking within the 10" height threshold was dealt with nearly without effort. Didnt appear to mar the deck at all, and it spat out chunks of ice with ease. The item was very easy to assemble, relatively easy to carry, and can be folded up to fit into a trunk or back seat should you need to. You need to use the right extension cord(s) for a 15 amp device, which are heavy, expensive, and don't play nice when cold, but definitely a fair trade off.

Awesome, this thing saved me last winter. Moving from a townhouse to our new house, I didn't have a lot of money for all these extras that come along with taking care of your yard yourself. I thought I down this for a year till I had money for a better 2 stage. Well, we got walloped this year with round after round of snow here in Chicagoland. Thank The Lord I had purchased this. I coated the chute in car wax, and reapplied some spray wax (quick detailer)every couple of snows. It pushed through some heavy wet snow and cleared an 8" overnight snow with no problem. Its so light I could pick it up and get the porch, patio, and concrete landings. I did have some issues where it's too light to dig into those ruts that would be left if somebody drove over the snow before I could clear it, for that I just throw a sand tube on the snowblower just behind the chute. The light would have been nice, but not needed. But take this into consideration, I'm an electrician so I ran a dedicated 20 amp receptacle for this, and bought a 12 awg 100' extension cord for it. Having adequate power is going to enhance this snow blowers performance. Worst thing for motors is voltage drop from undersized wires.

With Rhode Island's horrible month of February 2015, a near-record snowfall for a full season in just one month, this was a lifesaver. At age 65 it might have literally been a lifesaver. When the snow was 2-3 feet higher than the intake I had to drive a shovel in straight down and pull it back to bring the height down so the Snow Joe could do the heavy lifting for me. With storm after storm after storm, the walls along the driveway and walk grew to 5 feet. This 15-amp powerhouse had no trouble throwing the snow up and over. The aging 12 amp snow blower it replaced could not throw the snow over a 3 foot mound. It would have been utterly useless. The plastic construction seems somewhat cheap, but given the level of out-and-out abuse it was put through -- showing absolutely no ill effects -- it is far beyond adequate for its intended use. The snow did not stick to the plastic as it did to steel snow blowers I had in the past, so consider that too before you call the use of plastic "cheap." Recommended VERY highly!
