Love That It Completely Covers and Protects The Back Seat of a Toyota Highlander ...
When I needed a seat protector for my granddaughter’s car seat, my daughter recommended the “Summer Infant Elite DuoMat for Car Seat, Black”. In 2011, I purchased a Prince Lionheart 2 Stage Seatsaver for my grandson’s car seat. While I liked its beige color, that particular two-piece seat protector did not provide complete coverage of the seat. In contrast, the “Summer Infant Elite DuoMat for Car Seat Black” completely covers the seat of my Toyota Highlander. Further, the pocket on the front of the DuoMat hangs over the front edge of the seat and provides additional protection to the front of the seat base. I liked the construction of the “Summer Infant Elite DuoMat for Car Seat Black”. The back, bottom, and pocket join into one continuous unit. Because you do not have to be concerned about positioning both pieces correct, that makes installation less “irritating”. A heavy-duty, twill-like tape binds the entire outer edge of the DuoMat. Strategically located fold-lines result in better fit of the DuoMat to your specific vehicle. In the event of an accident, the non-skid backing helps minimize the chance that the DuoMat will slide. I am using the “Summer Infant Elite DuoMat for Car Seat Black” with a rear-facing infant seat, so I decided to sew ties made from double-fold bias tape onto the back top-edge binding. This allowed me to secure the DuoMat’s back to the headrest posts and helped prevent the back from flopping over. Although I could have folded the DuoMat’s back down, I preferred having the entire back of my vehicle’s seat protected. It would have been nice if the manufacturer had recognized that parents/grandparents might prefer to secure the seat protector’s back and had put ties on the DuoMat. I would have liked it if I had had another color option when I purchased the DuoMat. Although black does not show the dirt, it absorbs heat and in Texas that is something to consider. Further, because my car’s interior is a light tan, if the “Summer Infant Elite DuoMat for Car Seat, Black” does stick or transfer color to the leather, it will be more noticeable. I am very pleased with the “Summer Infant Elite DuoMat for Car Seat, Black”. I would recommend it to anyone needing a car seat protector. The things I did not care for were not significant enough to warrant subtracting a star.

Your seats will be clean!
I bought one of these 4 years ago when my first kid was born to protect what were then new leather seats. The DuoMat did such a good job and held up so well, I bought a second one 2.5 years later when my second kid was born, for that seat. Well, fast forward to now and the kids have destroyed the car interior -- except the seats. Seriously, the car is filthy but the seats are pristine. We recently moved to the suburbs and needed to buy a second car. After seeing what 4 years of kids did to our existing car and how well the DuoMats protected the seats (and the DuoMats themselves are basically like new), I bought *two more*. Seriously, it's a great product. I've bought four, but that's not because they don't last. It's because they're so great!

Best Car-Seat Cover
When I got a brand new van recently I really wanted to do something to avoid the breakdown that happened with the seats in my previous van. I am really pleased with these. It helps with crumbs and all other mysterious messes that comes with having kids and car seats. When I am going to be having adults in these seats I can easily remove them and - tada - clean seat. They are super easy to remove and put back in. Have had them about 6 months now with car seats in place and looks like they are doing a great job. Added bonus of the pocket has come in handy.

A must have!
I bought this seat cover as soon as we purchased a car with leather interior. I literally ordered it on my phone as I was sitting in the car dealership! I love that it can be used for both rear and forward facing car seats and the black, simple design is very discreet on our black interior. You can't beat the price; especially considering how expensive it would be to repair damaged leather caused by your car seat. This would also make a great baby shower gift that the mama to be probably hasn't even considered!

Protecting vehicle seats for 5 years now....
We have four of these mats distributed throughout a Honda Odyssey Minivan right now. As you can tell, we love them and they work. Our oldest is 5 years old and youngest is 3 months old. All of them are holding up very well. No tears or seams coming apart. No cracking to the waterproof material, even in high stress points like where the car seats sit on the mat. Everyone of these mats that we have ordered has been brand new. We have not had a single issue with any of them. There hasn't been any harsh odors or funny smells to get over. They are well made. These mats are always catching things and protecting the seats to the van. Anything between crumbs to liquid. Our little girl fell asleep one day and had an accident. The mat contained a puddle when we got home and allowed us to clean everything up without a single drop reaching the seat to the van. The mesh storage compartments in the front of the mats are mostly for toys. Anything you put in there is going to get smashed! The kids can't help it. Their legs and feet hang out of the car seat and whatever is in these storage areas will get kicked for the duration of the ride. The seat belt paths in the mat are well placed. I move the child seats around a lot to let the kids take turns running errands with me in the truck. I'm thankful the mat isn't a pain or getting in the way when doing this. The mats don't aid in the child seat from moving around in my opinion. You child seat should be strapped in tightly with the belt system you are using. This mat doesn't aid in that with a proper installation of the seat. I'm a car seat technician in the state that I work in. I asked our car seat instructors about these mats. They said they are thin enough to not manipulate a proper installation of a child seat. Where you would have problems is if a mat is too thick and settles over time allowing the seat to be loose, that is not the case with these mats. We recommended these to everyone that has kids. It will save your vehicle's seats in so many ways. We've already seen one mat go from being under an infant seat to now a forward facing seat. That's durability that we are needing. They are well worth the price. If anything changes with these mats then I will update this review. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Good initial impression, liked materials, fits great
Bought this as well as the Munchkin one. Liked this one a bit better, but both are fine and it might be down to personal preferences. This one had less of an initial smell and the material seemed more "rubbery" than "fake leathery" which I preferred. I usually don't post reviews but thought this might help someone else wondering about the difference.

Exactly the protection my seats needed!
I have a Toyota Sequoia with leather seats and I kept worrying that my daughter's toddler seat would tear the leather. The Summer Infant DuoMat covered the whole seat and has thicker areas right where toddler seat rubs. The price is great too so I would recommend this to any family.

Keeps my car clean from messes !
I love this pad so much I’ve purchased it twice for my son’s car seat. We now have a second baby and I’ll be purchasing two again for each of our cars. Kids can make a mess with snacks in the car but these make cleanup so easy, my car is spotless. And they’re easy to toss in the washer. There is no complicated installation, they stay put under the seat and I never have to readjust them. I would highly recommend these and you can’t beat the price !

Protection Is Good
First off, I am a grandma; I just got a new BMW and wasn't happy about putting our 2nd hand car seat in my car. So placing this protection between my new seats and the used car seat was essential. I was surprised it didn't connect behind the head rest, but the back is stiff enough that it curves to the contour of the seat and stays in place. I also had to put several towels under the seat to build up the "indention" in our seats to help the protector fit flat enough to tighten the seat base on the mat without leaving deep indentions in the seat.

and it has done a good job of keeping the seats in good condition
I've really got a lot of use out of this car seat mat. We put it underneath a Britax carseat for our daughter in our 2012 highlander with leather seats, and it has done a good job of keeping the seats in good condition. To be honest, we don't use the pocket at the bottom much, or even really notice the mat after we install it, but the few times I've had to take out the Britax car seat to move it to another car, I was reminded about how good of a purchase this was because the underlying seat is in good condition as it helps distribute the pressure on the seat of the carset itself, and prevent crazy divots in the seat over prolonged usage. I was happy enough with this after the first week of using it, that I bought another one for my wife's 2009 Camry, also with leather seats. All in all, this is a very useful thing to put in your car if you're looking to protect your seats and have small kids who will require carseats for years to come. Definitely highly recommend this.
