Louder Than Expected - Perfect

Purchased for my daughter since it's her 1st year of college and she's staying in on campus. It's a no brained item. Glad I purchased it!

Great Little Device

I bought this for my 86 year old mother. She's always going out somewhere. She isn't steady on her feet and one day she fell because she couldn't see if she was in the driveway so she didn't have to pick up her foot that high. She wasn't. She hit the curb and she fell broke her shoulder, her arm and her collar bone. She laid there stunned. Good thing a neighbor was driving by and helped her. Now I've heard a lot of negative things about these life alert devices. She has a few friends that have them and they say they don't work right and it takes a long time before anyone gets to them. So what's the point. This is better for her. Even with her diabetic retinopathy she can see the buttons because they are a different color than the device, I bought her the pink one with the red buttons. The buttons are easier also because I've see others with pins, you pull the pin out for activate and push it back in to deactivate it. If you have poor eyesight or it's dark out you're not going to get that pin back in. This she can use if someone attacks her like the animal that pushed little old man off the bus. She clips it onto her purse so she has easy access because keeping it in your purse isn't a good idea because you'll never find it. I tried it and it's loud! It even scared my husband and he knew what I was doing. He didn't expect it to be that loud. lol So yes, I think these are great. It's piece of mind that I am able to help my mother in that little way and hopefully keep her safe. I highly recommend.

Be careful on the plane ...

Loud and easy to use. I feel safer with it. I dropped it once, and the button hit the floor causing the siren to go off. They should warn you about taking it on the plane. It is perfectly legal on the plane, but it can go off if the button is pushed by accident. Don't pack it in luggage because if contents shift, something could hit the button and cause the siren to go off, and then who knows what TSA would do to your luggage. Take it as carry-on and be careful not to hit the button.

Great product for effective self defense.

As a veteran, I can say that people react poorly in high stress situations especially without proper training. This is probably the most effective method to deter a street attacker. It sounds like a business alarm and will definitely repel an assailant that intends to draw as little attention as possible in a kidnap or rape scenario. Tazers and pepper spray don't always work and when they do, you better hit what you are aiming at otherwise you're just going to piss off your attacker.

GREAT ALARM!

I bought this alarm for my granddaughter, as she has to walk a few blocks alone to the bus stop for her first year of high school. This alarm is perfect. It is easy to trigger and to turn off and it is LOUD. She feels safer because she has it, and can access it easily from her backpack strap should she need to. This is a great product.

Small but powerful!

Previously, I had a "Mugger Stopper" device, but it took up a lot of space in my handbag. I love that this alarm has a clip that will attach to my purse's strap on the outside, and the whistle is an added plus. I checked out the alarm when I first got it, and it is LOUD, which is just what I wanted. I think that if I ever need to use this for self protection, it will do a great job.

Excellent little device to keep you safe

Excellent little device to keep you safe. Very loud as promised and I just feel safer having it with me when I take my dog out in the evening. We have coyotes in the neighborhood and this will be very effective in keeping them away from us. Bought one for my granddaughter who has to park 2 blocks from her job. Also, buying one for my other granddaughter who is going away to college this fall. Be sure to read the instructions that come with it.

Safer than pepper spray - can go on an airplane.

Took it abroad to a dangerous area. Glad I didn't have to use it. But, when children were playing in the next room, they found it and pushed the button - WHAT A LOUD NOISE!!! This was a family gathering with more than 30 people, many children, and lots of loud talk going on. Everyone stopped when they heard this noise! That was exactly what I hoped for. And due to the color contrast, it was easy and quick to turn it off.

I feel safer

I bought this alarm to take to work - I work at a grocery store and a lot of creepers come around. I get hit on a lot (often by middle-aged men; I'm 22 so...). I'm pretty safe inside the store, with lots of people and cameras, but sometimes I do things in the parking lot too, and I'm more vulnerable there. Anyway, the alarm VERY loud! It makes my eardrums vibrate. I demonstrated it for my mom and brothers and they winced. The whistle is just as loud. Piercing. Although I don't think there's actually much chance of getting attacked at work, I feel safer carrying this with me, just in case.

Great Purchase

I bought 3 of the Vigilant personal alarms, one for me, my daughter and my sons girlfriend. I have a little more sense of security with this alarm, although hoping to never have to use it. I did test it and I'll tell you it has an ear piercing sound. It will definitely draw attention and hopefully scare away the attacker. I highly recommend it.
