I use argan oil for my beard growth and overall healthiness of my beard. But it felt like I was missing something but didn't know what it was. I start youtubing and noticed these barbers used balm to further soften the beards. So I came across Honest Amish Beard Balm and never looked back ever since. PROS: * Adds a lovely shine to my beard. * Soften the texture or my beard that a comb can go straight through without pulling hairs. * Goes on very smoothly like butter. * Takes a dime sized amount for full beard coverage. CONS: * Container is very small so you have to be frugal in usage.

I absolutely love this stuff. Keeps your beard looking glorious!

First, the scent. What about the scent? There is much to-do about the scent in the reviews and you may be afraid that the scent is "strong" or that you'll smell like licorice all the time. Don't be concerned. I have no idea what these people are on about. There is a hint of anise (black licorice) but I think the scent is a mix of spice notes and woodsy scents with maybe a tiny bit of anise. I think, personally, the top note is clove. Is it a strong scent? No, absolutely not. One single spritz of cologne is way stronger than this stuff. Will you smell it? Yes, faintly, and for a little bit until you either adjust or the scent fades away--it's hard to measure what is actually happening under one's nose. Having used it for a few days, my wife did not even notice the scent of it on me. In fact, for the sake of science, I put a lot on one morning, waited a few minutes, and had my wife give me a sniff from about 5 inches away. She said that she couldn't really smell anything at all. In any event, I think it smells quite good. (NOTE: If you cringe at the thought of wearing even the weakest scent, as some men do, Honest Amish makes an unscented version of this balm.) Does it work? Yes. My beard is softer and it looks nicer too. I'd recommend the product to anyone who uses a stronger soap for face cleaning as a strong soap turns your beard hair into steel wool. This, along with some good conditioner, helps put things back into shape. Does it help with the dreaded beard itch? Yes, and boy was I glad that it did. Does it help with the dreaded beardruff? Yes, my skin is regularly flaky with beards and this took care of that too. Is it greasy? Well, at first it is a little moist. After you put it on, it does seem to soak up very well such that you don't have any meaningful residue on your beard. If you use a lot, it'll be a bit greasy, but if you've used a beard oil before you should know what you're in for. Does it help with holding or shaping? Basically, no. It does contain wax, but this stuff is for conditioning. If you want a bit more hold, buy the heavy duty balm (and see my review on that.) I used this stuff in the early stages of my beard and switched to the heavy duty balm when my beard got longer and more unruly. Does a little go a long way? Yes, so don't be put off by what seems to be a small tin. You're supposed to apply this to a damp beard and the dampness helps the small amount of the product go even further. There's no "set" amount to use here, naturally. You can tailor it to your liking or your need for conditioning. I tend to use a good-sized portion, particularly as my beard gets longer and before I transition over to the Heavy Duty Beard Balm. Still, I'm not burning through tins. I've had the same tin for more than a year. Get it. Try it. A "For The Ladies" Edit, 11/29/15: My wife, for whatever reason, started using this on the ends of her hair. She's been doing it for months now and swears by it. So, I asked her why she likes it so much. She said that it keeps her ends moisturized and it has helped to eliminate split ends. She said she also thinks it would have useful application in controlling fly-aways while braiding. I'm pretty sure I have very little idea what that means.

I have had a beard for over five years at different lengths and thicknesses. Everything I tried in the past was too oily and my beard looked frizzy. I saw several recommendations from beard care sites that used this product. I tell you I am impressed with the results. It smelled great but in a mild sense. My beard is so much softer and healthy looking. I apply it daily after a shower and a quick blow dry to get rid of the excess moisture. Since my hair is thick I went with the balm for a little help styling. Quickly rub between your fingers to warm up and rub it in to your beard. My skin feels great with no itchy flakey scratchy beard. My wife loves the smell and it's not too oily to touch.

I absolutely love this beard balm! I don't know why I'm just now putting in a review but I've been using this for about three years and it's amazing! I like to put a little bit more than normal on especially when it's sunny because it glistens in the sun!

I ordered this beard balm for my husband. It is a small metal container that can fit in the palm of you hand. I thought since it was so small it would run out quickly. I was so wrong. This container lasted my husband almost two months and he puts it on every single day. My husband & I husband love this beard balm. Before he began using this his beard was very rough and often he would get dry skin under it. Now it stay moisturized, soft and smells so good. We will be long term customers of this product.

I've used many products in the past for my beard, such as grave to shave and black beard... but this stuff is amazing!! I grow out my beard every winter starting in Aug and go to March of the following year. After it gets to about 1/2" to 3/4" long I start to brush this product in. I highly recommend using a boar brush for the brush instead of using a traditional hair stylist brush. With the boar brush, you will not get the static build up nor won't you get those moments you pull out a whisker or two which are super painful. The direction call to put a small amount in your palm and rub together until it begins to "melt" into a lotion. Which it does, but I prefer to use a hairdryer. Put a small amount the size of small jelly bean, and use the hairdryer to melt it in your hand. For best results, massage the melted lotion into a wet to damn beard. Go on to now use the hairdryer and boar brush on your beard to even it all out. The feeling is none other and makes my beard looks very smooth and clean. My beard feels soft and not wire-like and the Honest Amish product last all day long until its gets washed out again. The smell of it is fantastic too. I highly recommend this to the beard lovers!

I left a pretty negative review that was 1 star previously due to the "licorcie scent and greasiness" it made my beard feel. However, after using this balm for a couple of days im quickly realizing that it's actually pretty d*** good stuff! I'm still not the biggest fan of the scent...To me, it just smells a lot like black licorice and I hate black licorcie. But whatever. The point is, is that i can tell that it's nourishing the hair follicles in my beard. I take a little dab and rub it between my hands and then message it into the skin underneath my beard. It feels soooo good and makes my beard feel nice and soft all day. I actually really like this stuff. Now I'm giving it 5 stars and i will be buying it again in the future.

I have used Honest Amish beard oil and balm for the past 5 months and have nothing but praises to give. on a daily basis I am complimented due to my beard being maintained. every time i give you guys the full credit. I will continue to use daily and appreciate the natural non overwhelming smells that are in this product and not overly potent unlike other brands.
