Great software for digital scrapbooking and make-and-cut projects!
I ordered this software on a whim when it was a lightning deal and I'm so glad I did! I love scrapbooking and paper crafts, but it just isn't practical in my life right now to drag out a bunch of paper and supplies to create. I also love graphic design and creating on my computer so this is a good alternative for me. I have done digital scrapbooking for years in Photoshop, which works fine, but for most people would be overkill (and is more expensive). I have also used other programs specifically for digital scrapbooking, some were good, some not so good. What I like most about this one is that it is fairly simple to use, though some tools did require me to hit the "help" file for clarification on use. While I'm working on a layout I can cut out, crop, resize or edit pictures, cut with shaped scissors, use premade punches or make my own punch or stencil, adjust the color on an element that isn't quite what I was looking for, add text, add shadows and lots more, and most features are pretty quick to find (some I have discovered a bit more buried so look around, you may be surprised by even more options!). The software is set up to lead you to the Daisy Trail website to purchase digital backgrounds and elements, and there are some fantastic kits on there at very reasonable prices, but the software also allows you to bring in your own digital supplies by using the "digikit creator" function. I had thousands of free elements I had downloaded over the years, and they are now all pulled into the software and organized so when I'm working, I can look for items without digging through my computer files...they are all in one easy file system. It did take me some time to get everything loaded in, categorized and tagged, but now that I have I can easily find anything I'm looking for. I have already recommended this software to many friends! My daughter is looking forward to trying some of the print and cut craft patterns that are built in as well.

I love this program
I love this program. It has many different types of things that you can do in this program. Very satisfied. I would highly recommend it to any graphic artist. Design from graphics, to fixing photos, adding text, etc. Many templates to choose from for the scrapbook'er.

This is a wonderful program that can take my Jpeg images and combine them into really neat compositions. It's a fun and entertaining program that takes a while to learn, but is well worth it!

Geat Program
I have used many programs like this and this one is, by far, the best. There may be some learning curve but their instructions are pretty clear. As far as getting digi kits, I agree that Daisy Trail had nothing to offer that I wanted. That being said, there a many places to buy digi kits and many places to get free digital graphics and make your own kits. Between "Granny Enchanted", freebies on sites like My Memories, searching for free digital graphics on Pinterest, Google Images and the many other sources available, you really never have to buy any kits. First, learn what it means to "create" a digi kit in the program and then start adding graphics to your computer so you can build your own kits. The main thing to understand are the differences between using a kit and creating or editing a kit. After you get this down you will love the fact that you can add dimension, shadows, make a frame out of anything, etc. Take your time and try creating a small digi kit of your own then practice editing, saving and using it. I love this program!

a very versatile program. I had a bit of trouble figuring out some of the tools but the videos were helpful and it was worth putting the effort into figuring it out.

FABULOUS program!!!
This is an absolutely fabulous piece of software. I've been making my own greeting cards since 1994. I mostly used Create-A-Card. I had both versions - the one from Hallmark & the one from American Greetings. Those are very easy to use and come with a lot of content. But I had quickly outgrown the cartoonish images. But I continued to use the software because it was very easy to put together a greeting card & I could usually import the images I obtained from other websites. I ended up buying this from HSN during a crafting or scrapbooking sale. Many of the negative reviews of this application mention having to buy content. The program comes with a voucher to buy content ($10) from DaisyTrail.com - at least mine did. Plus, Daisytrail also offers some free digikits. But IMO, you're paying for this powerful software application, not content (like Create-A-Card & apps that are specifically greeting card programs.) But you are not tied to DaisyTrail for your content. There are many other sites where you can buy content and even get some free. If you buy on sale, some kits are a dollar or two, which is less than the price of a nice greeting card. (My current favorite place (other than DaisyTrail) is TheDigiChick.) Or, if you are very creative, you can generate your own content. I'd say comparing CraftArtist 2 Professional with dedicated greeting card programs (like Create-A-Card) is like comparing Photoshop with Gimp or MS Paint. If all you want to do is crop & rotate images, MS Paint will suffice & Photoshop would be overwhelming. So if you're looking for software with a lot of content included, this is not the app for you. (Which may be why they call it CraftArtist rather than Create-A-Card!) OTOH, if you want the freedom & flexibility to get content from other websites or generate your own, you will LOVE this program! It is extremely powerful! The digikits from DaisyTrail integrate easily into the program with the click of a button, after you buy & download them. If you get content from other sites, there are video tutorials on Youtube (from DaisyTrail) that walk you through the process of integrating them into your own digikit. I've purchased a lot of content from other websites and that includes many "frames" from other websites. When I dropped one into CA2 and then dropped a photo onto the frame, the photo was treated as simply another layer, rather than aligned into the frame. But I found a Youtube video that quickly & easily walked me through fixing this & now I'm using the frames I've purchased from other websites. This software also is good for digital scrapbooking, but I don't do that. IMO, this is a brilliant program that takes making greeting cards to a whole new level!
