When I purchased this, after a short time the plastic casing fell apart, even though the product does function well, so I wasn't completely happy with my purchase. But when I contacted the seller, they immediately sent me a new unit and were very apologetic about it. What's more, they were well aware of the defect in this particular batch, and had already taken prompt steps to rectify the problem. The replacement they sent me was much more durable than the first. I don't expect it to wear out at all. This is a good product at a very good price. Highly recommended. Plugable USB Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy Micro Adapter (Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7, Raspberry Pi, Linux Compatible; Classic Bluetooth, and Stereo Headset Compatible)

I initially picked this up to do some file transfers while getting networking set up on a new custom built desktop computer. Worked fine for my needs. Later when I tried to use it for audio with bluetooth heaphones and earbuds I ran into problems with connectivity, sound quality, etc. And after some experimentation and finding the issue persisted in both Win10 and Manjaro Linux with a few different sets of headphones and earbuds, concluded it was a flaw in the bluetooth adapter. After posting my experience here I was promptly contacted by Plugable, who had obviously paid attention to the details of my write-up and pointed out that desktop components without integrated bluetooth don't often bother with shielding to prevent interference. They suggested moving the adapter away from other components, and quickly sent me a M-F USB cable to do so. I previously had the adapter plugged directly into the rear ports of the motherboard, and sure enough, as soon as I plugged it into the USB cable and moved it a few feet away, my connectivity and sound quality problems disappeared. No more pops, clicks, poor quality, or troubles pairing or keeping devices connected. I've tested it again in both Win10 and Manjaro Linux, and it works well in both and is fast to find and pair with my devices. So, keep that in mind if you are using this adapter with a desktop system. If you're having some issues, it may be interference and just need some distance between the adapter and the motherboard.

Update2: 5 stars restored. This adapter wasn't responsible for my sound quality issues - windows was. There's a retarded default configuration in windows that activates using headphones as a telephone which drops sound quality and different programs use different codecs for the same files, and this adapter handles signal transmission no problem. Andy from plugable customer service was very helpful and helped me solve bluetooth issues that frankly were not even the device's fault. Sound quality via windows is still not 100% of what it is on my iphone, but that is purely the result of windows default sound settings. If I play with vlc EQ settings I can recreate the full sound depth of audio files as on any other device, just default profile isn't configured right for my wireless headphones. That is entirely to do with the software I'm running and not this hardware which does exactly what it is advertised to. For higher quality bluetooth audio sound profile to be able to be active in windows, disable using the audio destination as a microphone in "recording devices" and disable telephony service in the audio device's properties via "devices and printers." If you want to add Bluetooth capability to your machine this adapter is a really good way to do so and the manufacturer is awesome at helping out if you run into any technical issues along the way! Update1: Customer service is super responsive and helped me get multiple devices working simultaneously with this adapter! Apparently windows glitchy default driver setup for Bluetooth isn't as good as this company's proprietary driver, provided for free. Awesome! 1 star improvement for great customer service! The remaining stars shall be restored once I get a satisfactory solution for why sound quality on my wireless headphones is better via my iphone than it is via my desktop using this adapter... Initial review: Cannot connect more than 1 bluetooth device at a time. Has some kind of software glitch with windows 10 where a device I had connected for the last month suddenly can't connect at all any more, namely an ergonomic keyboard, so I have to revert to a USB-based one. Very annoying that I got to this point because I had to choose between wireless music and being able to type on a more ergonomic keyboard. This is most likely the easiest installation I have had of a product in a long time, if you don't count plugging in a pre-formatted hard drive. It literally took five seconds from start to finish. It was so quick, after waiting for a minute, I was thinking "what's going on? Why isn't anything popping up to initiate the installation process?" But in fact, it had already automatically silently installed on its own in the background. To test it out, I took out my PS4 Bluetooth controller, held down the pairing buttons(briefing holding down the Playstation button while the Share button was held down), and in about 30 seconds total, Windows 10 had finished the process of pairing and connecting my controller via Bluetooth - simple, quick, and magnificent. When everything just "works" like this, technology is a wonderful thing, and the world is a better place to live in. :)

I have previously purchase a least three other brands of USB Bluetooth adapters. One was complete crap out of the box. Others had a very low range or needed to be constantly restarted/unplugged and plugged back in. None of that is applicable here. There was some initial confusion as the product did not plug and play immediately with Windows 10, but that was easily remedied by downloading the drivers directly from the manufacturer's website. Pros: Speed/Ease of Connection: I use this product primarily with a set of Bluetooth headphones. After syncing the headphones the first time, they will now connect to Bluetooth immediately after I power them on. You might think this is a given for a Bluetooth adapter, but I have had experience with several others from other manufacturers that cannot make this claim. Range: Easily maintains connect up to 30ft. away with no static or stuttering. Previous Bluetooth adapters that I have used have had trouble maintaining a clear signal from underneath my desk. That's maybe 4-5 ft. from my head. Not this one. Clear as a bell from across the room. Price: Costs the same or less than other products which simply do not work. Sounds affordable to me. Communication: A representative from the manufacturer posts clear, helpful information right here on Amazon. That is how I confirmed that the drivers need to be downloaded from the website. Cons: The only con I can think of is the lack of a working set of drivers on the CD that comes with the product. This is cleared up in the comments section of this product on Amazon, but still, those few moments of panic when you plug in your device and it does not work are not great. The manufacturer should update the CD that comes with this product. Not enough to take off a star, but still not ideal. Overall a good product that I would recommend and purchase again for other devices if needed.

I would definitely buy this adapter again or recommend it to family and friends. My Asus laptop, which is about 2 years old, apparently had Bluetooth as an *Option," which I didn't know about, because, don't they ALL have Bluetooth these days?! My wife found an old flip-phone with pictures that she wanted to get off. The easiest way to do that is transfer them to the laptop via Bluetooth, but NO DANG BLUETOOTH ON THE LAPTOP! This is about usage with Windows 10. (And why wouldn't you have it? Free upgrade and you can use Start10 from Stardock to make it look and work like Windows 7 if, like me, you don't want to deal with the stupid tiles) This is what *I* did to get it all working: - Insert the bluetooth adapter and Windows 10 installs the drivers - RESTART, because it's not really done until you do - Click the little ^ at the end of the taskbar to Show Hidden Icons - RIGHT click the Bluetooth Devices icon - Click Open Settings - Allow Bluetooth devices to find this PC Then, between the devices, you can SEND or RECEIVE a File or whatever else you need to do. I found that I could only send 10 pictures at a time, apparently due to some limitation.

Plugable (one "g") has always had good products at a great value and fantastic customer service. This may sound negative at first, but hear me out. A few years back I had ordered a plugable Bluetooth connector and it broke. I reached out to customer service and they immediately sent me a new one without even asking what happened or requiring me to return the existing one. Then it broke again. I reached out again, but I did not expect to get the same exact treatment. At least, I figured, they'd question me. They did not and I received a replacement again immediately that ended up lasting for years until I decided to get a Bluetooth 4.0 adapter. Usually, technology products either fail pretty quickly, or they go on to last a long time. If you get a new computer and it doesn't break within the first few days, it's much more likely to still be working fine years later compared to those same chances when you initially bought it. Well, it is now well past the point where I would expect this to fail. In fact it has exceeded my expectations in terms of it's range, build quality, and value. Knowing that their customer service is excellent makes it easy for me to give this product five stars. Even though I'm convinced that it is a quality product, I can rest assured that if someone purchases it based off of my review and something does go wrong, then they will be taken care of.

First off David is the best if you have a problem talk with him and he will get you squared away fast! I had no problem with the product at all it was all my computer but David took the time to help me out to make sure this worked on my laptop! I can't say enough about the service I got from them ! Emails sent back to you not in days but maybe and hour same goes for responding back and forth about the problem! I'm about treating the customer right and these guys knocked it out the park went beyond what they needed to do! So I'll be placing Plugable Technologies at the top of my list for anymore of my laptop and computer needs! If your not that good with computers and you see something they have that you like buy it and send David a message and he will get everything rolling for you if you have any problems!

(I've been using this for my wireless PS4 controller use on my Windows 10 home theater/gaming PC for more than 6 months now). This works very well. I didn't need to install any drivers or mess with any settings. I would just do a "restart" after you install it to make sure everything is working properly with the drivers. I'm currently using it for my PS4 controller on my living room PC set up. (The PS4 controller is the best game controller, in my opinion.) The Bluetooth dongle recognized my PS4 controller. Others seem to be having a bit of difficulty with that, but I have not had that problem. Try restarting the PC after the drivers are installed. I can confirm that this works with the PS4 controller; I've been using it for well over 6 months now. It's important to note that this isn't a simple "plug and play" if you are trying to use Sony's controller on a PC (something they did not design it for.). But, with a little know-how, you can get it working. You will need a third party software program to use the PS4 controller on Windows. I use DS4 Windows by Jays2King. (ds4windowsDOTcom). I play games like Witcher 3 and Mass Effect Andromeda with the controller through this Bluetooth, and I have not noticed any lag or other problems. You can only connect one controller at a time through this dongle; if you try to connect other devices besides the controller, it sometimes has issues, so if you're buying this for the PS4 controller, I would understand that you are probably going to be ONLY able to use Bluetooth for that purpose alone. That might be the only drawback for some (but I think that's true of any Bluetooth, not just this particular adapter.) For $14 this was a perfect solution. Rather than buying an Xbox controller or using a wired controller, for not a lot of money, I was able to use a controller I already had on my computer!

I got this to pair with my PS4 controller and am pleased with the results as I am now able to use my controller wireless on the desktop and charge it by just plugging into the USB cable that came with my controller in my desktop and keep on playing wired until I am ready to go wireless again. I had to turn off Bluetooth temporarily and restart Input Mapper to allow for charging and a wired connection until battery was full. To get it back into Bluetooth mode just turn it back on and restart input mapper then push the PS button on the controller to get it detected again by Input Mapper. I use Input Mapper version 1.6.10 at least currently. Make sure Bluetooth drivers are installed first I had to check windows update for mine after plugging this in. I have found that only one controller may be connected to this adapter at a time but that can be possibly remedied by buying another adapter I have not yet tested this though. Below I shall provide the steps needed to pair your PS4 Controllers. "Here’s how to pair your controller wirelessly over Bluetooth, if you prefer: First, turn off the controller if it’s already on. If it’s on and paired with a PlayStation 4, hold down the “PlayStation” button and then select the “Log Out of PS4” or “Enter Rest Mode” option in the menu that appears on your TV. The controller will turn off. Next, put the controller into pairing mode. Press the “PlayStation” button and the “Share” button on the controller at the same time, and hold them down. The light bar on the controller will start flashing. This indicates the controller is in Bluetooth pairing mode. Finally, connect the controller to your computer like you’d pair any Bluetooth device. On Windows 10, you can open the Settings app from the Start menu, select “Devices,” and then select “Bluetooth.” The DualShock 4 will appear here as a “Wireless Controller” if it’s in pairing mode. You can then select it and click “Pair” to pair it with your computer. On Windows 7, 8, and 10, you can open the Devices and Printers pane in the Control Panel. Click “Add a device” and the controller will appear as a nearby Bluetooth device. It will also appear in the list of connected devices here as a “Wireless Controller” once it’s connected."
