Something I really like about these Jameson guitars is that they're offered in a variety of finishes. I started collecting these because they are offered in six colors currently - and you won't find many other cut-away acoustic-electrics for the same price. The red, green, and blue finishes are all "burst" finishes that gradually transition to black. The black finish is solid black, the natural finish is a light wood grain color, and the pink model is a solid pink throughout. I hope Jameson will continue to add more finish colors. As far as the instrument itself - the pickup is a simple passive pickup underneath the bridge. Sound quality seems good when I recorded to my computer. Because it is a thin-line model, it does not have as robust bass tones as a dreadnought. The gig bag offers minimal protection - it is not extensively padded. If you actually travel with this guitar, I'd recommend getting a sturdier case that can tolerate more abuse.

Just to qualify, I have played guitar for almost 40 years and am an advanced player. I have lots of expensive guitars and, in fact, that's the very reason I bought this - it was inexpensive and something I could take on the go without having to worry about it being broken, stolen, scratched, or whatever. Plus, it had a pickup. All the reviews seemed fairly positive and I knew I could make adjustments, even major ones if necessary, as I have done much guitar repair in the past. So I got it while it was on sale. I received it today in good condition and was very impressed with the quality and workmanship. I tuned it up and played right away. The playability is excellent. It's good for any price, but it's ESPECIALLY good for the price paid. No adjustments are really necessary (although I may lower the saddle just a bit to suit my style.) The intonation is excellent (very important for beginning guitar players learning.) The tuners are very smooth. The neck feels substantial but not too fat.Probably strong, which will make it durable and lasting. The pickup works well enough ( I haven't done any recording yet with it, but I probably will.) Man, what I wouldn't have done to have a guitar like this when I was learning! "Beginning" guitars were generally horrible back then, but this one is quite the opposite. No, it isn't fancy wood, but it's wood, and the thing plays very nicely. At the sale price (79.00 for me) I recommend this purchase for any beginner (or someone like me who wants a "camping" guitar. I can't even believe the price for what it is. At retail (~300.00,) it would be "OK," but there may be some other beginning guitars that may have a richer sound (believe me, I have NO complaints about this instrument - I'm just trying to make a complete review as I see it.) But for the $80-150.00 range, this simply can't be beat. It's a steal. It came with a gig bag, a few picks, a 1/4" cable, and a neck adjustment tool (which I did not need as of yet.) Keep in mind, guitars are wood and some MAY need an adjustment. That's normal. I am very pleased.

I have been a rock drummer for 40+ years. Due to extreme back surgery I am laid up for a few months so I decided to try a little guitar. I wanted something that both looked and sounded good, but did not want to spend a fortune. My son in law just bought a very similar Martin guitar. He was amazed when he saw and played my Jameson, and completely shocked when he was told that he paid 10 times what I did. The finish looks like glass. Not a single flaw that I could find. The color is deep rich and absolutely beautiful. The sound both acoustic and electric is exceptional. My jam buddies are constantly asking to borrow it. These are guys that on a daily basis play vintage models of Gibson, Fender, Martin. My only observation rather than complaint is that I would have liked a better, maybe 3 band EQ. Other than that, it is a beautiful instrument that will fit nicely into our instrument collection. For a beginner, this is a dream.

I own several guitars ranging from 700 dollars to 2000 dollars so I knew not to get my expectations up when purchasing a 100 dollar. I bought this as a gift for someone to learn on but when it arrived, I could not believe the quality of guitar this is. The tuning keys are high quality, the neck and fret board are high quality. It holds its tune as good as my Ovation and Ibanez acoustics as well as my 2000 dollar PRS guitar. Very easy to press the strings. Surely I thought this would be the difference maker from my more expensive guitars but it's actually easier to play. The pickup is a little more brighter sounding than on more expensive guitars but it's nothing you can't fix with your settings.

How good could a $100 guitar be? When I was a kid a $29 guitar was about the same price as a $100 guitar today. And the $29 guitar I bought back then was a toy. It was a terrible thing to play and sounded awful. Today I've graduated to a decent $600 guitar that plays and sounds great. I needed a more portable practice, One that could keep my fingers nimble and let me play a few songs. I looked at a lot of boxes and finally decided I would just not spend a lot and hope for the best. Man, was I surprised. This slim little black guitar plays really well and sounds pretty darn good. If you're looking for a really decent starter instrument, or need a good practice guitar, you can't go wrong with this slick little black beauty. When you look at it and play it, you won't think it's a cheap or poorly made instrument because it's not. You get a lot more than your money's worth in this nice little guitar. ********* This is a follow-up. I've had this little black beauty for a week. I play it every day. I play it with an amp and without. I replaced the strings with some really quality ones. I'm just blown away. How could you possibly get a guitar this good for 100 bucks? Seems incredible. I just love how it sounds. I just love how it feels to play. On my little Acoustic amp (20 watt with 10") with no extra sound adjustments - just set flat, little black beauty just rings on the highs and mids, and just sounds sweet and full on the lows. I have 6 guitars and somehow this has become my favorite. At one tenth the cost of my most expensive one.

What can I say? I really wanted a Martin...just didn't want to spend $700 or more. I had been going to Guitar Center every couple weeks to play the Martin, and ended up coming to my senses...I bought my first one in blue and this one happened to be my second, for the office! It's a really great acoustic / electric guitar and I've been playing for 20 years. I recommend ordering good strings with the guitar- D' Addario Light strings are my favorite.

Great little guitar for the price, made well with a solid build, looks high quality, doesn't look cheap at all. Paint job shines with a glossy finish. Smooth all around the body, neck and head. It sounds good right out of the box which is double boxed for good protection during shipping, I was impressed by that. Finger strumming is medium volume but once you add the pick it picks up big-time. It plays low with low action meaning the strings are closer to the frets on the finger board which is a good thing. Frets are nice and solid. It has a plastic nut and saddle with plastic string pegs. Switch them to bone and the string pegs to wood & I'm sure it would sound even better than it does now, not to mention adding new strings of your choice. The equalizer is nothing special with no battery and just a volume and passive tone control. I've plugged it into a Fender Frontman 10G amp & it gets loud and comes to life with great sound. It doesn't have the top guitar pin on the body for a guitar strap which is disappointing because it does have the bottom guitar pin. The gig bag was too small, it didn't want to zip up, was way too tight and I risked scratching the guitar if I tried to force it, that sucked. I'm still using the strings it came with and they sound good still. Great paint job, glossy coating that makes it shine. Tune it up and tighten the tuners and anything else & you're ready to jam out. Can't beat the price at just below $100 dollars you get a high quality guitar believe it or not. Get a couple capo's & some picks and you're good to go ready to jam out. Invest in an amp also just to have more fun. I'm happy with this purchase, I've been having fun with this guitar after years of not playing. Peace.

Far higher quality than I was expecting and playable right out of the box. I expect Chinese made cheap guitars to be built decently due to computer guided parts manufacturing, but I also expect to have to do a set up before they are playable. This one has the action a little high at the bridge, but balanced overall and could go for years without needing attention. I bought a bone nut and saddle at the same time as the guitar, so I will be setting it up eventually, but for now I am just enjoying playing it. I was impressed that the body and fretboard are bound. A truly exceptional guitar for the price, and my particular model was worth at least three times what I paid. I can't guarantee that the one you order will be as good, but I am happy.

i'll be 50 yrs old in a few days. i started playing guitar at 8. this is my 30th guitar. i started ordering various guitars from amazon a year and a half ago and have not been displeased at all with any of my orders. i get some for young people who cannot afford to get one for themselves and so have started exploring the guitars in the price range of 80 to 140 dollars. at first glance, it would seem pretty much impossible for any guitars in this price range to be of any worth, but the factories are set up to put out fine instruments now in this price range. i can't recommend this guitar highly enough to convince you what i think of it but i am astounded at the quality, playability and sound of this guitar. it has really good tuners and rings out like a bell without sounding at all shallow. the action is light enough, right out of the box that it easy to play bar chords and any suspended chords ring out and sustain well. i had 2 guitars similar to this, an ibanez and an alvarez. one was 600 dollars and the other 300 dollars but they were no better than this. if you go into a guitar shop and pick up any steel string guitar for under 300 dollars you will see the same displeasing features. mainly, they play hard, they sound shallow and do not attract an owner. this guitar is different. and it has a pickup in it. in a guitar shop, you would be hard pressed to find a guitar like this for under 300 dollars, guaranteed. just try it. you can always send it back if you don't agree and then post a comment that i am a liar.

I was about to give this guitar four stars. However, RELATIVE to the PRICE, this is absolutely a five star purchase, all the way. For under one hundred dollars, I received a pretty Jameson acoustic/electric guitar that also sounds fantastic. Steel adjustable keys, no bow in the neck, lovely all the way around, sounds like a $400+ guitar for LESS than a bill. Even experienced left hand players, order this, even if you have what you need, you wont regret it to have an extra acoustic electric around. It plays like a dream plugged in or acoustically. It is fairly shallow, but surprisingly that doesn't compromise the sound... It sounds full bodied and the slim nature of the body adds to its character. I am actually a right handed player but I am somewhat ambidextrous and I can play the first position chords as a lefty. the action further down seems just fine as well. Why did I buy this? It is good to have around, you never know if your going to have a lefty over, plus, I want my brain exercise! DONT PASS THIS DEAL UP.
