I just purchased these clippers for my cat. So far I have no complaints about these clippers. I believe these are a good investment. Here is a picture of my cat after his hair cut.

Works pretty well on my Coon's arse. Very silent! Take each pass carefully, taking a bit off at a time. My coon takes a few poobles with him after poops a few times a week. For my somewhat germaphobic SO this is a problem. A quick shave and for the last month his poo-trophies are few and far between. One warning though, when grooming a cat - they can express their anal glands at you if nervous. The included apron comes in *very* handy. These two statements are very strongly connected. Good luck and try not to be at eye level.

I Never groomed my dog and she hates going to the groomer. After reading other reviews I decided to try this. It was so easy and very quiet. My dog who is a beagle/schitzu mix and she actually was not nervous at all. I highly recommend this clipper. Very well made.

In 2 uses of this, I paid for the darn thing and saved myself future expense at the groomer. I ordered this because I was TIRED of giving my $$ to a mobile groomer. I have 5 dogs, 2 of which are Yorkies that require regular grooming. At $40+ per dog for a groom and every 3-4 months they need groomed, I was spending close to $500 a yr for grooming 2 dogs. Either you drag 2 dogs to a groomer where they are washed and sit in a kennel for hours to dry until they are finally clipped on or you pay a travel fee and higher prices for a mobile groomer to come to your house. I opted for the latter and after 2 yrs, I was done. When 2 grooms and 2 nail trims for my other two dogs made me write a check out for over $100 (and tips included in that), I started checking into dog trimmers. The Wahl name is a trusted name so after looking at the pricier ones, I settled on this one. I saw it on Ebay and I have Amazon Prime so I could get it faster on Amazon than waiting for Ebay shipping. It's simple to use once you read the booklet and do a practice trim on your dog. I happened to have a friend who used to trim her own dog and she showed me how to do it and now I have no fear on using this on fuzzy dogs. You have to start with a clean dog. Dirty dogs will dull the blades faster. Always start neck down and work towards the tail. NEVER start with a bare bladed trimmer. They heat up fast (you need to touch them frequently and if they're hot to you, they'll burn your pet). Do the bulk of heavy trimming with a #1 or #2 blade tip and practice. HAND TRIM with scissors the face and feet. Easy to hold, comfortable, this trimmer gives a precise trim. The kit comes with a nice storage flip tab lid, scissors, the trimmer, trimmer blade covers for less bare trimming, instructions The only negatives are: it's got a louder buzz the bare blade heats up fast and if you aren't conscientious you risk burning your pet

My Wahl U-Clips arrived at 4:15. Around 6:30 I decided to give them a try. Our tribe consists of one Wheaten Scottie, one Dorky with long coat, one Tibetan terrier with long coat, and one Carin terrier... YES THAT'S FOUR...lol. The groomer charges around $40+ each to bath and shave them, and Petsmart charges around $45-$146, depending on the service. Even at $40 each, my groomers bill would have been well over $180 with tip.... The Wahl U-clips went through all of their different types of terrier fur like a charm! Within an hour or so they were well on their way to having a summer shearing. I was very pleased! A little scissor clip around the legs and feet and they are looking pretty good for my first time as a dog barber. And I paid under $40 for the entire clip kit!!! While clipping I found that you may need to change direction to go at the hair toward the direction it's growing. The ease of the procedure was amazing, the clippers didn't over heat even after all four dogs! The dogs were a little nervous at first, but as soon as I gave them an old fuzzy blanket to lay on while they were being groomed, you would have thought they were at a spa.... The Wahl Professional Animal Deluxe U-Clip Kit paid for itself on the first day I used it! SAVE MONEY, GET THE U-CLIP!

Received extremely fast (1 week ahead of schedule) — cracked her open/oiled her up and immediately put my Desiree on the table. This is my first dog grooming and have been working on her on/off for a few days - these clippers are nice - product description states not recommended for poodles, but i did touch up and had no issues - did her head/ears and tails with #7 comb and she looks gorgeous - this clipper will be used mainly for my Bichon and i am looking to purchase poodle specific clippers - i do have 3 standard poodles and i wants their clips to be fast and efficient - was spending $300+ every 6-8 weeks on grooming ... it is not as difficult as i thought it would be, actually rather easy - just want to have the right tools for the job. Given what i was spending, money is but is not an object and in the long run i will be saving oodles on my poodles.

I worked in a veterinary hospital for many years, and I saw how clippers need to stand up to abuse. I also saw how blades can easily become gummed up and dull if they are used on dirty fur. I bought this kit to use with two maltese/havanese puppies. First of all, make sure you use this only after the dog has had a good bath, otherwise you will quickly dull the blade from the sand and dirt in the fur. Make sure that you regularly oil the blade, and that you repeatedly raise and lower the bar next to the blade while its running in order to spread the oil properly. Also make sure that you check the temperature of the blade by pressing it against your finger, to ensure that you do not burn your dog. However even after running the clipper for 10-15 minutes at a time I did not find that the blade became overly hot. For home use, this kit is really great for the price. It has a solid feel even though most of the body is made of plastic, and it seems like it will stand up to a good amount of use and a bit of abuse. It is also very quiet compared to the professional clippers that I used at the vet's office. Take care not to drop it, as a consumer model like this will not take many drops before it won't run properly, or at all. And not dropping it is a challenge, because even though it feels comfortable in the hand you will be constantly manipulating and re-arranging it and your pet and there are many many chances for it to be dropped. If you are clumsy it might be good insurance to place a towel down so that if you happen to drop it the fall will be somewhat cushioned. The scissors that came with it are also nice, and they are blunt to protect your dog. Overall, my wife and I have saved $200 compared to what we would have paid a professional groomer, and this is only after 2 clippings. It takes some time and patience, but in general it is much less stressful for a pet to undergo grooming from an owner than from a stranger.

Our poodle puppy was in need of a face shave. This clipper is quiet and doesn't get hot quickly. I did have to resort to not using a guard because I wanted it so short but the guards in use are also excellent!

We have a crafty, ornery short-furred female tabby: basically, a European Wildcat. About twice a year, her dense fur becomes impossibly and uncomfortably matted. The Wahl works quickly, painlessly, and perfectly. Very simple, safe, and powerful. Working together, and with a towel wrap to prevent biting and scratching (by the cat) my spouse and we can shave the matted hair on half our cat's back within only a couple of minutes. And little Shaitana is so much happier!

These are the first dog grooming cutters we've ever purchased. We figured it would be worth it to try even just once as it would be cheaper than one visit to the groomer. Very pleased with the overall experience with them. We have a goldendoodle with wavy thick hair, sometimes we'd have to cut the same area twice to get it all cut even, but we expected that with the amount of hair we were working with. It's important for your dogs hair to be clean and brushes so the blades can run smoothly through its hair. The cutter also needed oiled, as is the case for any cutter. We did cut our dogs hair in portions so as to not overwhelm him as it took awhile to get through a 75lb goldendoodles long thick hair. We also did it in sections because the unit did get a little warm after running continually and we didn't want to ruin the unit or burn our dog. It wasn't overly loud which was nice. An update for May 2017: the cutters are still working - but require much more maintenance than at first. To get through the haircut of our goldendoodle, I have to take apart the blades and clean along with oil the cutters probably 3 times during our session. This only requires a Screwdriver and some oil, but it is an extra step that is now incorporated into the whole grooming process. I feel like the blade may need sharpened too, but I'm not sure how to go about that just yet. I have a feeling this extra work and dulling of the cutters may just be due to the hair type of our dog as I have read and know from experience of taking him to the groomer, that his hair type is more work.
