Oh my gosh! These are the BEST veggie dogs we've tried in a long time. The casing takes a bit of prep to get off of the dogs. We run them under warm water after taking them out of the freezer, then we cut the casing and slip the hot dog out. A few minutes in a cast iron pan with a bit of olive oil and these hot dogs brown up perfectly. They have a decidedly different texture to the LightLife or MorningStar hot dogs, both of which I also like a lot. They are decidedly more firm and they have a more bold flavor. Definitely worth trying even if you are not a fan of fake meats.

I really like veggie dogs in general, but these are exceptional. These aren't mushy and have the perfect chew. An opened minded meat eater would probably enjoy these as well. They may not fool anyone, but they are delicious and they offer a great meat/seitan texture. I could probably make these, but they are so great to have when you're crunched for time. They totally sate my hot dog craving and are much more filling then typical veggie dogs. I wished the Field Roast would commercially release it's porcini cutlet that taste's like chicken fried steak/schnitzel. It's only sold to restaurants.

I've made seitan several times before, so I was open to trying this product. However, they did a better job than I could have done in my kitchen. The frank tastes both believable and good, without all the bad stuff.

Field Roast makes the absolute most delicious vegan food. I'm hoping Amazon Fresh will start carrying more of their products.

This is among the best vegetarian meat substitute I have ever tasted - and from someone who actually enjoys meat sausage, but just like to explore the "vegetarian versions". Reading the ingredient, you can readily see why this tastes so close to actual meat: This company understands the concept umami, and where to find it in plants: barley malt, yeast extract, tomato paste - all ingredients high in glutamate. The other ingredient surprisingly well thought out is the palm fruit oil, source of saturated fat.

After giving up eating four-legged animals in 1990, I have struggled to find alternatives in poultry and seafood. I was a fan of hot dogs prior to 1990, but developed a problem with digesting them later in life, even turkey & chicken franks (always felt nauseous after eating, no matter the brand). So I gave them up. My brother recently went vegetarian & told me about "Field Roast Grain Meat Frankfurters", which he said tasted better than regular meat hot dogs. I AGREE! Not only do they taste great, but I also did not have any digestion problems afterwards. And they taste like meat, not a bunch of flavorless veggies! I highly recommend these to everyone, even meat eaters who are attempting to improve their diets or decrease their intake of meat for health purposes. NOTE: They are not gluten-free though, and the sodium level is about the same level as many brand names.

My husband really loves these frankfurters. Hard to tell there is no meat in them. So disappointed that they no longer carry the Celebration Roast which is really tasty too. At least these are available.

This is the only vegan hot dog I will buy. I have purchased it from Amazon Fresh. It arrived hard as a rock frozen, but that didn't matter. I put it in my fridge where it thawed out, and lasted a long time. Being frozen did not negatively affect the taste or texture. The outer skin of the dog will absorb a good marinade making it taste so close to the real thing that most people wont be able to tell the difference. Enjoy!

Just the burst of flavourfull seasoned umami one sometimes crave. Authentic, yet can be eaten with a good conscience for the animals, one's health, and the environment. Love it!

I've tried some other filed roast and really enjoyed them. So when I saw these although I never have liked even real hot dogs I gave them a shot. I now cant keep them in the house between me and my husband...SO GOOD! Texture is so dense way better than original hot dogs.
