i just got my first pair of danskos today and i couldnt be happier! i've been on a quest to find the perfect work shoe that has a little height to it, and with this purchase i'm pretty sure it has officially come to an end. they are terrifically comfy and i cant wait to try them out. as far as the sizing, i'll share my situation just in case it might help anyone else out...i have very, very odd feet. they're a bit on the wider side, but i have such freakishly high arches, that my shoe size (depending on the shoe) varies between 7.5 and 9. so when i saw the sizing options offered between 7.5 and 9, it was same old same old in terms of me being conflicted on what size to buy. especially after reading that these shoes "stretch out" or "loosen up" after being broken in. if a shoe is leather or will give, and is offered in standard sizes, I usually order a size 8, and if it's snug, a few days of wearing them around with heavy layered socks seems to make them the perfect fit (i've even gone so far as to walk on my treadmill with 3 pairs of socks on to break a pair in...a bit nutty i know, but it's what works!) when i ordered these, it was after both reading tons of existing reviews and going through the questions/answers. honestly, if these shoes were just for fashion, i probably wouldve gone with the size 38, because any cute shoe should fit flush/snug. but keeping in mind that i'm on my feet all day (swelling, etc), that it's cold most of the year, and i'll be wearing much more substantial socks than the dippy little dollar-store throwaway ones i sport in the warmer months...i opted for the size 39. my foot slipped right in, and they do clunk a bit when i walk, but i absolutely made the right choice erring on the larger size for these shoes. i'd rather have a bit of give to accomodate warm socks (and the arch supports/inserts that inevitably find their way into any shoe i wear longer than once every few months), than have to worry about negotiating more room by stretching them out. so if you're around an 8 and dont know whether to go with 38 or 39, and you need these for being on your feet all day, just in my personal opinion i'd say opt for the 39. also, i ordered the black sparkle color, and i was afraid they might look a bit more charcoal-y because of the glittery look but the color is definitely glossy black at first sight. just sparkly, too. overall excellent buy!

Awesomesauce. I didn't even need to break these suckers in. Opened the box, wore them to a six hour shift, and no issues. Impressive, as they're leather, and I have wide feet, so a smoother shoe-transition than I'm used to. (1) Sizing: I read about how it's better to size up, so I ordered an American female size 8. I'm oftentimes booked as a 7.5. This was a win for the hometeam. [Note: Do your research before choosing a size and buying. The different Dansko sellers are unreliable in how they document what size is what, in terms of translating the European sizes/norms to American female sizes. I suggest going to the official Dansko website, reading about their sizing suggestions, and then navigating what to purchase from there. If sellers and/or descriptions seem sketch/vague, I'd pass on it. These shoes are an investment; better to be safe than sorry.] (2) Fit: I wear these suckers with socks, always. I can wear thick or thin socks with these, however I prefer wearing thicker socks because it's a cozier fit for me, and I don't have to worry about feeling like my feet are "slipping around" inside the shoes. I once forgot to wear socks to work, and man, not ideal. It was manageable, but I had to move slow so I didn't flop onto my butt. Definitely had some space to spare, and the shoes' inner lining is leather too, so there's no "grip" on bare skin. Gah. I never forgot socks again. (3) Look: I like the subtle, swirly, dark navy blue patent leather material. I have had no issues with the material fading or peeling. I like that if something splashes on my shoes, it's easy to wipe off and I don't feel anything on my skin. Also, I feel ok wearing these shoes outside of work, because they don't scream "nurse." I like the extra height, too. (3) Feel: Comfy! My friggin spine appreciates the whole "hey! I'm not dying!" feeling. A huge improvement over athletic sneakers and Crocs. The arches in my feet, and the small of my back, could sing soliloquies to Dansko. Highly recommend. (FYI, I badly scuffed the "noses" of the shoes (rubber base and leather toe top) because I often--and unintentionally--tap the nose of my shoes on the ground while standing. So, this is my quirk, not Danskos. This habit makes them look more worn/older than they are. So, just a heads up if you have a similar habit.)

These shoes are great! I ordered a second pair after my Husky Puppy chewed the first pair... I've paid $120-$130 for these shoes in the past so price was fair I guess...

I've been trying to find a proper work shoe for years now. Finally gave into Dansko. I absolutely love the shoe. For someone with very flat feet that has to stand all day (literally 12-14 hours) I've never been able to find something that allowed my feet to not feel like death at the end of the day. Arch support is tricky for me since I do have such flat feet but I don't have any problem with these. The only problem I DID have was that the first pair I ordered were way, way, way too small. I could barely get my feet in them and my toes were smashed. I ordered a size up and they're still a little tight around the arch but much better. I think these shoes are just the type that need A LOT of break in time. I ordered a foot stretcher and actually tried stretching them (for my new pair) to break them in faster and it seemed to have helped a lot. It's kind of weird... Support is amazing for some odd reason but the arch is just TIGHT. Heel feels amazing and I never even got a blister, the arch is just super tight on my left foot. The leather is also rock hard so I figured it's just the way they're made/the leather. I definitely recommend the shoe because now that I've broken them in I find all the pain is gone (for the most part) and I can actually comfortably stand ALL day (with barely a break) between 2 jobs. No more having to sit down or collapse between shifts! It's amazing. I've been in restaurants for 7 years and I've never been able to find a shoe like this. I have no idea how or why it works but it does! I can't wait until they're really, really broken in and beyond perfect.

As a nurse, the type of shoes I wear plays a big role in my ability to perform my job. I've tried other clogs and the Dansko clogs are far superior. They are completely comfortable, and have excellent shock absorbing potential, which cuts down on back pain after working long hours standing. The color pattern choices are cute and range from plain and simple to wild and colorful, depending on your preferences. I chose the black clogs with a marbled look, and they look really good with my scrubs. I've found that other clogs will often rub my heel after awhile, but these don't bother my heels at all! The fit is perfect and true to size for my normal shoes size (10). I ordered the size 41 and they are just perfect. Absolutely recommend these if you work a job that requires you to be on your feet for long hours at a time.

I ❤️ These shoes! My co-workers called my shoes, “the sour tart shoes”. Since I was introduced to Dansko shoes in early 2000’s I have NEVER had tired feet. I am 5ft so they make me tall too (lol). They are comfy and I like that now they come with cute designs. I use to own one pair per year. But ER walking can be BRUTAL on shoes. So my new technique is to get several cute Dansko’s or Sanitas and swap out. One per day or one a week. They are expensive and this way I have a different style every day every other day or once a week & they last me longer. I change about every two years. I do kill shoes! I recommend these shoes for people with flat feet they are way better than those expensive non-flexible orthotics. One tip. Take note of your shoe size before you buy. Shoe shouldn’t fit tight. So if tight return get a size up. Also take into consideration the thicker the socks the “snugger” 👈🏾 (is this correct?) 🤣 the shoe will fit. I work ER therefore I stand & walk a lot. I wear compression socks which is the perfect fit for these shoes. Not to thin, not to thick... just right. I use the SB Sox. Sold right here on Amazon. I will post a pic when I can. I am wearing a different shoe at the time of the review. Ok that’s enough. Bye🙋🏾♀️

These are my second pair of Dansko Pro shoes. I have severe arthritis in my right ankle and plantar fascists in my left foot. I had been hobbling around using various braces, inserts and shoes recommended by my podiatrist without much relief - until I found these shoes. I now can walk normally, without a limp and without pain. I plan to keep on buying these shoes!

***WARNING*** these are all HANDMADE shoes, so don't expect each shoe (even of the same exact size and style!) to fit the same. It's going to be a total crapshoot if you buy these online, so MAKE SURE THE STYLE YOU CHOOSE HAS FREE RETURN SHIPPING!!!!! Once you find the shoe that fits you perfectly, they're heaven! They're worth the price because they'll take the place of 3-4 other pairs of shoes. These puppies are built to last. I actually went and tried on every pair in 3 different sizes in 4 different stores to find the pair that fit best. Sometimes the size 35 is the same as the same shoe in a size 37, etc, just depends on who made it I guess. Don't forget these sizing guidelines: you should be able to wiggle your toes, the part that crosses over the top of your foot shouldn't be snug, and your heel should slide out a bit when you walk. Do the "kick test" to see if it's too big though (wearing the shoe, make a kicking motion, the shoe should stay on). Good luck to you!

I absolutely love these. I used to wear Dansko all the time (I have worked in a hospital for about 14 years), and one day I decided to buy cheaper shoes. They didn't cut it. I ordered this shoe in the pewter iridescent, and I'm so glad to be back in my Dansko. These are the only shoes that don't leave my feet and legs tired at the end of the day. The color is much prettier in person, picking up all the colors when the light shines on them (much like the old petrol style that Dansko used to have). Definitely worth the price.

I've worn Dansko clogs for 10 years. I'm aware that they have moved their factory to china after their contract with Sanita ended. The quality is still good. My first pair of Oiled clogs lasted roughly 6-7 years of heavy use. I loved them. I went with patent (shiny finish) clogs in both Sanita and Danskos. All of them cracked in the toe box where it bends at your toes. 3 pairs, all the same thing, cracked leather. I hesitantly went back to the oiled clogs and gave them 1 last try. When I removed them from the box I noticed how dry they were. This was the driest, thirstiest leather I have ever seen in my life. I grew up around horses and I'm very familiar with leather oiling, conditioning, etc. I broke out the only oil I had, just plain vegetable oil. I applied it to the clogs with a paper towel. It Sucked up so much oil!! I kept applying until it could not absorb anymore oil. FYI you can use any type of medium weight oil such as canola oil, olive oil or the traditional neets foot oil for leather. leather conditioner is not enough, you need to use oil. I had a realization with the patent leather shoes. They are most likely using this same bone dry leather that they use for the oiled leather and then slap the patent finish on top. If you leave leather in that dry of a state, it will crack! So far these have been awesome and are working great. They have good arch support. They are a little wider than the Sanita clogs but not too wide. You don't' have to wear thick socks to make these stay on your feet. Remember you should be able to get a pinky width space between your heel and the back of the clog and your foot should slightly lift up out of the back of the clog.
