If your little toddler person is like ours, they love to RUN. Ours started walking, er RUNNING pretty early, and we needed a way to keep him safe while giving him some independence. This little backpack does the trick! The tether is a great length and sturdy. And because it's an actual backpack, it's useful for storing small items in. A backpack also looks less "embarrassing" than a normal kiddie tether. We've actually gotten SO many complements on how cute it is! We sometimes attach a carabiner to the end of the tether and hook it to our belt loop to free our hands. We also use the carabiner sometimes to keep the tether hooked to the top of the backpack so it doesn't drag. And use it to attach the lil backpack to our grown-up backpack when it's not in use. Overall, great purchase that looks snazzy, and saves parents and grandparents from chasing down a sneaky, speedy 15 month old!

This backpack has been a God send for our toddler when we take him busy places like the zoo or to theme parks. This is great to prevent your little one from taking off in random directions, but more importantly, for me, it provides peace of mind from him being snatched from other people. Sadly, that is something we hear about more and more these days. My son loves wearing it too, which is great! I've been very pleased with the quality and I love the size, it's perfect for a toddler.

I HATE the idea of putting my kid on a leash, but son insists on walking sometimes and has no attachment issues what so ever (he's a Houdini at getting out of my grip and a future track star at getting away). But, he loves this "big boy" backpack and seems amused by suddenly running off and bouncing back when he reaches the end of the cord. For me, it doesn’t feel so much like a “leash” because he can walk around holding his essential items in his backpack while strutting around like a big boy, and I don’t have to hold his hand (more like his wrist) the whole time – he can feel a little more independent.

We first attempted using these with my twins at 14mo; at that point they did not work well because the girls were not strong enough walkers and would just pull themselves over. By 20mo, they are working much better. The girls are excited about wearing them and do not mind the leash. We do enforce hand-holding but the leash offers some security if a baby should wiggle free and make a break for it. The backpack portion is small; I imagine my girls will grow out of it by age 3 or so. However, it's large enough for a travel pack of wipes, a few diapers, a puppy pad, some snacks, and a small toy. We don't need to bring the diaper bag at all since they are carrying enough supplies for a half-day outing. I like that the leash just unclips so the backpack can be used without it, in cases where we don't need to restrain them but still want them to carry their own crap. This is particularly great when traveling, since the girls each carry on their own essentials, and I carry on a few toys in my backpack. Importantly, it has a chest buckle. This means that the girls can't just shrug out of it and run off. Many leash backpacks lack this. The buckle is large and sturdy. Public opinion had always been "OMG look at those adorable backpacks," so that's a plus.

This is one of the best $15 I've ever spent. Colors are awesome. I hate it when something is pictured making it look like an awesome citron type green, and after it ships it's an ugly lime green in person. I think this one is the good color of citron green. I saw one review complain that with the strap attached at the bottom (how it's designed), their kid would tip over, but you can easily clip the leash onto the "toy" loop in the middle of the back, or into the top loop. I strapped the backpack onto my 15 month old son, and he seemed to instantly forget it was there, playing normally. I like clipping the strap onto the "toy" loop in the middle, and putting the leash into the mesh pocket for storage. Yes, I know this isn't how it's designed to be used, but seems all pretty sturdy construction - way better construction than I was expecting for the price. This is definitely going with me to the airport so he can get his ya-yas out running around before we get on the plane, and I don't have to worry about him getting away from me. Haven't used it much yet, will update review as we run it (and my son) through their paces. :-)

We bought this so we could ensure our 2 year olds safety while on a cruise. He likes to run and he loves to climb so we wanted him to have some freedom without having to worry he’d jump overboard. This was perfect. It acted as his diaper bag, easily held a few diapers, small pack of wipes, snacks, and his cup. He loved wearing it and would often put it on and hand is the leash when he was ready to go. Yes, we got some looks and a few side comments but we had a blast and he stayed safe. Since we returned the leash is disconnected and he still loves the little backpack and it’s continued to be the diaper bag when we go out. Makes him feel like a big kid!

This is an ultra mini backpack so see pictures for the reference to being only slightly larger than a sippy cup. That being said- great unisex colors, low price, short leash to provide good safety. A great buy for a 2 year old "runner" for parking lot, amusement park, or Halloween walking streets.

Loved that it's not your typical toddler leash/stuffed animal combo - this is definitely a little more fashionable and low profile. Got this for my 2 year old for some family trips where we will be in big crowds and near busy streets. She hates sitting in the stroller for long periods but is too heavy to carry all day. We also have a trip planned to a museum where no strollers are permitted, so this will keep her close. The bag is constructed surprisingly well and is the perfect size for a toddler- will fit a water bottle, some snacks and maybe a small toy (you don't want much more that that, though - it will otherwise be too heavy for them to carry). The leash can strap to top or bottom of bag, or disconnect all together for use as just a backpack. The straps adjust on the shoulders and around the waist to really customize it. It would be near impossible for them to wiggle their way out. They do, however, sit right under the armpits - we will be using this in colder weather, so she will have a layer on underneath, but I could see this potentially being an issue if used in hot weather/no clothing barrier. Overall, super excited to use this more. Worth it for the price and quality!

Okay, so I always said I'd never get one of these. Thought they were lame, controlling, belittling, embarrassing, etc. However, once our 3 year old started running off on us in public places, I started considering this idea more. Well, just a week or so before my wife took my daughter to Disneyland, she had her run off and couldn't find her for several minutes (even though it was just an uncrowded grocery store). So, we decided the pack and strap idea would probably be necessary in a crowded, crazy theme park. The pack is a little smaller than I thought it would be, but honestly that didn't bug me because we needed it less for carrying items and more for restraining our sprinting spawn. I'm happy to report that the backpack did the trick in Disneyland, and not only did it prevent her from running off, it's even helped us "train" our kid from attempting it. At this point, we use the pack as a consequence (aka threat), and our little one hasn't run off on us since. So while I wouldn't use this while going out for walks or simple errands, it was a lifesaver for busy, crowded areas/events.

I can't believe I bought this. I used to be so against putting a leash on a child. Then I had a child who liked to run and didn't like to listen! Now he's safe and I can actually accomplish something when we're out running errands. Love the backpack style. It's the perfect fit for my two year old. When he doesn't need the leash I just unhook it from the bottom and he can continue to wear it. The backpack is a pretty good size to hold snacks and his sippy cup. When in use I usually hook it to my Mommy Hook so I can continue to push the stroller. I honestly don't know what I would do without it!
