Great budget helmet, really happy with it. Bought it as a loaner but have found myself using it a lot. Very crisp, haven't gotten flashed at all. Not sure about the review claiming they received burned corneas due to the helmet not triggering. Auto darkening helmets block 100% of the UV and IR light, even when off. Edit 11/20/17: Going to add that the brightness on this helmet is variable. Here's a tip: If you see a floating spot after welding, GO DARKER.

I've been using this helmet for around 10 months now almost daily and I have no complaints at all. You just can't beat the price and quality you get for the price. It came with multiple replacement lenses and it hosts a bunch of settings to match what you are doing. I love the ability to choose what shade I want with the simple flip of a switch. From grinding to welding reflective metals like aluminum or stainless steel... this helmet will protect your eyes and do it well. Probably gonna buy another one soon so I have a backup because I simply don't know what I'd do without it!

PROS: Inexpensive. Comfortable and lightweight. Auto darkening is fast and works well. Adjusts easily. Works for MIG/TIG, stick and grinding (Harbor Freight standard helmet for the same price supposedly doesn't work for MIG/TIG) I was glad to get the extra lenses along with the helmet. Exterior lens easy to replace. CONS: Not suitable for overhead welding and the owners manual says as much, the exterior setting dial tends to drift, the interior lens is difficult to replace. For the money, this helmet is great. I will probably buy another one.

This welding helmet has held up very well and I do tend to be somewhat hard on my equipment . Now this is by no means a PRODUCTION helmet , although it could serve well as a daily backup . The point being , the shell is not rugged enough in my opinion for that type of use . The other point being , for this price you cannot go wrong for a home shop welding helmet . I've owned plenty of helmets and weld at least twice a week , often all weekend when restoring mopar automobiles and this helmet is comfortable and reliable . It has three sensors that perform perfectly and delay and sensitivity is adjustable at the viewing element . Two steps of 9 shade levels plus grind mode has you covered easily , more than enough . Viewing area is more than adequate and lens cover is durable and easy to replace . Visibility is excellent and auto shading reacts perfectly as adjusted . This helmet easily competes ( and wins in my opinion) against pro name 100 to 200 dollar helmets ...except for The shell which is merely to thin and flexible for daily " production" work . However it does not crack or come out of raise / lower adjustment at all ... Just a bit thin that's it . Overall this is the best value in a helmet I have ever come across by a long shot .

I'm a brand new welder so honestly I'm not in a position to compare equipment. This is my first helmet. So far I've used it once and it works great. The autodarkening works perfectly and for using a gasless flux welder the tint was perfect as well. The helmet itself is not made of metal but of vinyl plastic that is very tough but is flexible, this also makes it very light weight. The adjustable strap and headband worked well to adjust to my head and the helmet stays up once you adjust the knobs to the right tightness. Overall I couldn't be happier with my price and performance.

Works really well! Reacts to welding instantly! Be warned it also reacts to bright sunlight too especially reflecting off bright surfaces such as my welding table.. So far I really like it! Update: I have used this welding helmet for a while now and it does work excellent.. Recently when I went to use it the lens was flashing and then did not auto-darken.. This was caused by worn out batteries.. Changed the batteries which I ordered from here when I bought the helmet and I was back in business! Thinking that placing the helmet in grind mode when not in use will extend battery life so I am trying to remember to do this when in storage..

I thought it might be a cheaper helmet as it was priced higher than the cheapest but not in the range of the pro models. this thing works great however and comes with replacement plates! I have a lot of sun triggering that I have not figured out yet but I am pretty sure that this is user error. there is a range of darkness that is essential if you want good welds with lower amps like I am trying to do with my little inverter. When I could see the weld, fine. when it was a little too dark, horrible. big difference. Last time I welded back in 1970 there was only one flip-down setting and it was hard. this is great.

First hood. Works awesome! I have bros with $400+ hoods who are impressed with the performance and features of this helmet. Bought the black one and put my own snazzy lil paint job on there.

EDIT: OK, I've gone the opposite direction, and gone from 1 star, to 5. I think I just happened to get a bad mask on my first order, I ordered another and sent back the bad one... then liked it so much that I ordered another. So I now have two of these and compared to every other mask I've tried, I really, really like them. If the switch breaks again, I'll update... but as I said, I think it must have been a one off issue, because I didn't read any other reports of switch issues. I was never able to get in contact with the manufacturer, so I just returned it via Amazon. I've tried a mask from Harbor Freight (returned), and two others from Amazon (also returned)... So what makes this mask so appealing compared to the others I've tried? The resting clarity. By that I mean that when the mask isn't auto darkened, it's shade or, the amount of light it allows through is MUCH greater than other masks. You can actually see what you are doing in normal lighting conditions. When you start welding, the reaction of the mask is instant, and it shields your eyes. The drawback of this, is that if you don't turn on the mask, or don't adjust it dark enough, it can be too bright. It's UV shielded regardless, so it's not potentially damaging, but, if you don't darken it enough, it will make you see spots for a bit. So, start darker and lighten as needed. This mask also gives you a greater range of adjustment, so if you only need a little shielding (plasma cutting for example), you can easily adjust it, so you still have much better vision than with most other masks. The icing on the cake? They give you probably 6 or 8 extra replacement covers. Sure it's plain looking... but no other mask remotely near this price point, gives you the clarity and features this one does. ***OLD review below: The Good: Love the clarity, it comes with a lot of extra lens covers. When it's not dimmed, you can see much more clearly... it's default state is a much less dark shade than most other masks. When it was working, it seemed to react well to welds, but not to overhead lights. There is a sticker on the inside of the helmet, telling you the part numbers on amazon for replacement lenses, etc. Nice. The Bad: The head band is small. I've got a rather large head, and it fits on the very largest setting. There is not bad on the back of the headband, it can be a bit uncomfortable. It physically broke within the first 1hr of use. The switch on the side of the helmet seems to have broken internally. There is a scraping/grinding sound when it rotates, it no longer "clicks" to turn off, and the helmet works erratically now. We were in no way abusive with it... it just broke. Strange. Mask is useless now. Not sure how to get in touch with the manufacturer.

This is an excellent welding helmet, period. It has a wide viewing window that provides a clear view, it has a very responsive auto-darkening feature, and with a base of Krylon Fusion spray primer and a good seal coat, you can paint it (pictured). I’ve used it on a daily basis for the last six months on all of the major welding processes (GMAW [MIG], GTAW [TIG], SMAW [stick], Flux core) and cutting processes and it worked flawlessly until very recently. It has only just begun to flicker in regular room lighting, but it hasn’t been bad enough that I’ve bothered to troubleshoot it yet; there may be a simple fix. Customer service is excellent. I had ordered additional parts for it, which arrived promptly, and in a generous portion. I may be tempted to buy a six pack of these rather than a more expensive helmet.
