Pentair motor failed to start. I could hear a slight humming after the timer turned it on but nothing else. The motor case was also getting extremely hot. Based on a google search, I decided to try replacing the capacitor. Very simple to remove. The old unit listed the model specifications and they matched this unit. What arrived was an identical match. Instillation took less than 5 minuets and was a complete success. 5/5 stars. Old capacitor appeared to be the original (so at least 10+ years). Hope to get a similar life from this but at 10$ it is worth the risk.

Our pool pump died after hurricane Irma and our pool company was nowhere to be found. I needed to get the pump running again and almost every local stores were closed. I found this here on Amazon and it has saved me tons of money. I wasn't sure what the problem was at first and was worried we'd be taken for a ride by our pool service company. Glad to find this to give new life to our aging pool pump. A few months later and it's still working.

Works perfect. Shorter that what was in there before but that does not matter. The diameter is what fits into the motor cover. Specs and voltage ratings meet or exceed what they should. NEWER date codes meaning longer life (has not spent years in a hot warehouse) My Mom was charged $350 by the 'Honest' AC man to replace one of these. If you can turn off a circuit breaker and work a screwdriver, then you can change one of these.

My pool pump was humming but the motor would not start. I did a little internet research and determined that the easiest fix would be to replace the run capacitor. On my Pentair Superflo it is located in that "hump" on top of the motor. Local stores wanted up to $40 for a replacement. But I could have probably found one on the other side of town for something in the $20's. I knew this wasn't an emergency, although I did want to determine if this was the proper fix. So I ordered on Wednesday and received on Saturday. That's fast in my book and it wasn't Prime. I paid 14.99 w/free shipping from North America HVAC. It was slightly shorter than the original (orig was 3" L x 1 3/4 W) but fit the compartment just fine. So, turned the power on at the breaker (I take no chances with electricity) and flipped the timer power switch and VOILA! My pump started right up. It's so nice when you can do a little research, find the right product, get it fast at a good price, and it works. Thanks to the YouTube help and Amazon and their partner in a job well done.

Noticed my pool pump wasn't running when it should have been. It would only hum when I tried to start it. After a little research and reading reviews, I decided this capacitor might replace my current run capacitor. Received it today, as expected, took about 2 minutes to make swap. Flipped the switch & the pump started like it should. My old capacitor was the original that came with the motor. It was a genteq 27L1358 and also had 638318-308 on it. I'm very happy with the product, the cost, and the delivery. Happy, happy, happy!

Thank god for reviews! I read most recent review, first 2 sentences, then clicked to buy 2. Pool pump popped breaker...reset and pump was buzzing and not functioning. I took off the hatch that held this large cap. Took picture and looked it up on amazon. I added a bunch of chlorine to pool, waited 2 days. Once received prayed then installed. Yee ha!!! Working!

I have a Pro Force cement mixer that gave up the ghost a few months back. The weather is getting nicer, so I decided I needed to get her running again. After some troubleshooting, I concluded that my capacitor was shot. That was reinforced by the fact that it came apart as I was removing it. This Motor Run Capacitor Round 30 uf MFD 370 Volt VAC 12717 was just the ticket. Easy installation, and it fixed the problem right away. You just need to match the uF and voltage rating from the one you took out. It's that simple.

My Centurion pool pumped failed and would only hum when powered up. After a few seconds the internal relay would turn off due to overheating of the coils. I replaced the capacitor and it is now working. A new pump is more than $300 at the pool store and a little more than $200 wholesale, so this part was definitely worth it. FYI, it is made by a very strange sounding Chinese company, so we will see what the long term reliability is. But, so far, no issues.

Perfect fit replacement for Pentair 340038 1hp single speed pool pump. Pump quit working and would only hum after turning on until thermal overload switch kicked out after about 30-60 seconds and then nothing. Guessed it was the capacitor since the ends were bulged out and bingo. Plugged in new capacitor and pump took off immediately and has been running perfectly ever since (pump power even seems slightly increased but maybe that's just my imagination). Easy fix, cost 9 dollars and took about 3 minutes.

When my nine year old 220v AC window unit quit working and hummed, research showed a good probability of a failed capacitor. At this price it was worth a try. I learned more about capacitors than i ever dreamed. The only tools required were a insulated screwdriver and a multi meter to test ohms. The old one tested bad/failing. Take proper safety precautions, namely follow discharge procedures. There's plenty of internet advice. The poles on the new cap are not marked, but the same test with multimeter will reveal the common. I hope to get another few years before a major component failure forces replacement. Well worth the price and my effort.
