Great Course

I love this approach to learning a language. I am 71 and have never mastered another language. While it is taking me awhile, I am taken as to the way you can go back and reinforce. I know it will be a hard road, but it is reactivating a piece of my brain.

Probably the quickest way to learn French.

I have owned Rocket French for several years, but have not had the time to devote to it. I find that it quite comprehensive, so far, for conversational French. I also to Duolingo and really like it to set me straight on French grammar. One gets a lot of practice there, especially if one makes many mistakes, as I do. Also one can review to one's hears's continent. I don't know if one can actually learn conversational French with Duolingo, but it does give one the basics to experiment with French speakers or others learning the language. However, I think that (I haven't actually tried it) one will learn conversational French more quickly with Rocket French. I cannot vouch for any other method. I have had two semesters of French at a university. I also value that experience very highly.

Loves to read

I compared other offers before deciding to go with Rocket Languages. This was my first choice, and I feel as if I have made a good decision. This is only my first week, and I have already learned so much. I do highly recommend this course. It will take commitment, and time, but will be well worth it at the end. Buy it if you are serious about wanting to learn a new language. I am 73 years old, and if I can do it, so can you.

Besides my native Czech I speak and write English and Russian fluently, both of which I learned the traditional way. Now I am at the end of Level 1 of Rocket French. The Rocket approach is very effective, I am learning about 4 times faster than with the traditional school method. It is still work, it does require discipline but there are little pleasures about it as well. The lesson speakers Claire and Paul are very charming, in particular, Claire's speech is just lovely. The customer support is fast and effective even so that it is limited to the application programming issues. They will not respond to anything related to the language itself or any issue beyond that what is outside the screen. The Rocket method "weaves" the language, it gives a hint of word meanings, then hint of grammar then both the meanings and the grammar reappear later with a slight twist building up the full grasp. Similarly so with the common phrases. Another strength is the voice recognition, it works very well (nearly). The computer has no mercy, so when you say it right, you know your pronunciation is right, no less. But the program does have limitations, if I try to work on a lesson around 8pm there is not enough bandwith for the voice recognition. All of sudden 30% of sentences are rejected, not recognized etc. while off hours I get rarely anything wrong. C'est tout

BEST Language Course EVER!!!

It took me awhile to get into the Rocket French lessons. Truth is I didn't want to take the time. But, once I did, I am HOOKED! It is Soooooo fun!! I love practicing saying the phrases and trying to match it exactly to the tutor! The games are more like video games and it's hard to believe I'm actually learning French, but I know I am. I've been trying to set records with the games and increase my badges by the points I've been earning. It's SO motivating, I told my daughter I am literally addicted! Thank you, Rocket French! I can't wait to visit all the French speaking countries in Europe, and impress them with my new found knowledge of this beautiful language!! I give you 5 Stars!!

Brilliant! I can start where I want

Here I go again, I thought! Yet another attempt to learn a language I have been studying from the age of 11 years. I am now nearly 70. I just don't seem to be grasping the speaking part! I can understand reasonably well what is spoken to me, but by the time the brain cells function and my mouth begins to open another topic as been started. Enter Rocket Language, stage left. Brilliant! I can start where I want. I can dip in, dip out, go back, go forward, become extremely studious or just forget it. Just what I need for my type of lifestyle. To top it all there are those little stealthy reminders that gnaw on your conscience sending little waves of guilt through the synapses of your brain. Would I recommend it? Yes! It encourages me to keep moving sometimes slowly, sometimes quickly, but ever forward. Kieran

Rocket languages - tres bien!

Rocket languages works! I spent about 6 weeks learning French in preparation for a holiday break. I was able to order food, drinks, ask for basic directions when lost, and have a very basic simple conversation. The best thing about Rocket is the facility to record your voice and compare it to the native speaker and practice again and again till you get it right (or at least good enough to be understood). Personally, I don't think one could ever be fluent using any online programme. For that you need personal one to one tuition on a VERY regular basis and you would need to live in the country so you are forced to speak the language every single day. Otherwise - forget about advanced conversational level fluency - not ever gonna happen. But if you want to make yourself understood for basic requests, to make your holiday a more enjoyable experience, then Rocket delivers as long as you put in the practice hours and persist.

Love this Course!

I love this program and I have tried many. It’s one of the few that I have actually stuck with. The repetition of hearing, voice recording and writing really help. I also like that I can easily see where I am in the course and my progress.

This is truly a great French course

(Reviewing the online course and not the CD's) I've taken several French online learning courses both free and for fee. This one definitely is the best for my learning style. It attends to all aspects of learning a new language...reading, writing, listening, and speaking. None of the other courses come close to teaching all of these aspects nearly as well. I recommend this course without reservation. Even if you buy it at full price (watch for 60% off sales for online course), it's a great deal. I Love Rocket French!

Recommended for anyone who wants to start or upgrade a foreign language skill

I am enrolled in the French section of the Rocket Languages Program. I can recommend it to any person wishing to learn a new language or brush up on present skills. There is a wide variety of tasks and exercises as well as an excellent interactive opportunity to enhance comprehension and speaking skills utilizing native speakers. This program progresses to include a large vocabulary, which can make it easier to read books, understand dialogue on the radio and TV in the language you choose. I particularly like the every day expressions used in the dialogues. For the more diligent student, there are excellent writing and speaking exercises.
